My son has been attending Journey Education since kindergarten and is now in 4th grade, and we have had such a wonderful experience. We found Journey Education is a small community to be a part of that is rich with integrity and scholastic competence. As a nonprofit private school, it is a total diamond in the rough for Las Vegas families. Our son has transformed in the past 2 years of being there with reduced anxiety and grades he feels proud of. Parents are given many opportunities to contribute to the students' experience and that was a big plus for us. The teachers are full of purpose and care about the students. The owners of the school are involved and genuinely care about the contributions their nonprofit school makes in this world. Highly recommend this K-8 school if there is space to enroll. I decided to write a review in response to the other Yelp user who called the founder a "disinterested snob" and issued a few other insults. I wouldn't consider myself a friend of the founder, Mrs. Jensen (whom I can only assume is the founder who the nasty review was about). I haven't spoken with her since I was 12 or 13 years old when I attended her school over 10 years ago. I found Mrs. Jensen to be very kind and deeply passionate about what happens to her school and the children in it. I had a fantastic teacher while I was at journey, Mrs. Jackson, who did a wonderful job managing both my hyperactive tendencies and her responsibilities as a 7th grade teacher. I haven't kept up with the school since I left, but my experience was positive, and I would encourage all readers of this review to summarily disregard the mean-spirited slander posted to this page by that other commentator. We have been going to Journey Education for the last 4 years and I can honestly say it is a wonderful school!! Both my boys have been in Journey since 2nd grade and Kinder- if I could do it again I would still have them in Journey. Everyone there the teachers, principal, administrators, staff, and assistants are simply amazing human beings and beautiful souls. They are loving, caring and supportive in every way. The school not only focus on academia but also compassion, respect, and leadership. Though it is a small school (which is a huge plus) this schools is not missing anything. A friend told me about Journey, so I did some research. Being in the food industry, I work Tuesday thru Saturday and am off Sunday and Monday. Journey's school week is only mandatory Tuesday through Friday, so I'm able to send my daughter to Chinese school on Saturdays without feeling like a tiger mom sending her kid to school 6 days a week. It's perfect! My daughter is in kindergarten and what I love about this school is the small class size. They also teach all grades their subjects at the same time, so if a child is more accelerated, he/she can go to one of the upper grades and not be held back simply by their age. But mainly they stay in their home age group so it's not a stigma socially. I love that my child gets pushed in first grade but generally gets to stay with her age kids since she's so small already. Someone mentioned not having extra curricular activities...they really get the families involved by having the older grades host carwashes and yard sales. It's such a small school of course there wouldn't be sports teams, that is just nonsensical Also, they have before and after care. They play more, and also do their homework so if I have a longer work day, my kid's homework is done when I get her so I don't have to worry about it. Love!! read more

I appreciate this school. I trust them with my children. We looked at a lot of schools before picking Journey. What drew us to the school is that each child is placed in the class that suits their needs. Our kids go to the next grade up math class where they are challenged, but stay in their grade's writing class where they are also challenged. My kids love going to school. All three of my kids attend Journey. I love the small classes and the fact that because of that our kids aren't ignored like most of the 30 + kid classes out there. Another plus is that the kids are taught based of their level. If your kid is at a higher math lever for example, he/she will be in that higher level match classroom. The teachers are phenomenal. I know how my kids are doing in school always. The teachers are always reachable. They use gradelink so I'm always able to see what their grades are in all subjects. My son attended Journey education as a kindergartner for the 14-15 school year and we absolutely loved it. The class size is very small so he received a ton of personal attention. The teachers are excellent and go above and beyond. There is ZERO bullying and the older students are always kind and helpful to the younger ones. They also teach the children the pledge and say it every morning which I love. We are moving out of the state and leaving Journey is one of the hardest things about it. Journey Education one of those rare schools where children feel both challenged and loved at the same time. It is the end of the school year and my Kindergarten twins can READ and WRITE at a 2nd Grade level. Mrs. Coon who teaches Kindergarten and 1st Grade is the most amazing teacher for that age group that I have ever seen. She is like a grandma who has complete control over the room and creates an amazing learning experience for the kids. They have also had great field trips this year to the Discovery Museum, Shark Tank and even been taught by a genuine Astronaut. My son, like all children, was born with a "love of learning". As he started progressing in the school district, he became bored, complacent, and restless. His "love of learning" quickly deteriorated and began to manifest as behavioral issues that included acting out and an apathy toward learning. The answer was simple. Find a school that challenged him enough to feed his "love of learning", acknowledge his individuality, and guide him to "do the right thing". I found this in Journey. Journey brings out the best in every child by tapping into their individual strengths, while creating an environment of kindness, responsibility, and leadership. Absolutely amazing school. We switched to Journey Education from a more "prominent" K-12 private school for both our boys and could not be happier. Caring, dedicated teachers, and the most positive learning environment imaginable. My son and daughter attend Journey. I LOVE it! I have never been to a school that has such a positive atmosphere where every teacher and staff member truly care about the success of your child in and out of school. The class sizes are small providing for individualized attention. Each child is given their appropriate level of help whether it be easier work, harder work or right on their level. The teachers adjust the difficulty based upon each individual child. Along with the great loving staff, the small class sizes and adjustable curriculum, Journey is one big family.
