I was in the area for a meeting and 1/2 way through my meeting realized I skipped breakfast. I looked up nearest restaurants to find a place for lunch. Foundry was less than 10 mins away and the pictures looked promising. The interior is a bit dark but the staff was very friendly. I sat at the bar and started with the sweet Thai chili boneless wings. They were good but I didn't really taste any sweet Thai flavor. They taste like well seasoned chicken bites but no additional flavor. The southwest salad was full of flavor. I'm happy the bartender brought the salsa, sour cream and guac on the side because I think all mixed together would have taken away from the crispiness of the lettuce. The dressing is already on the salad so any additional moisture would have been too much. I have a meeting in the area about once a month and I will adding Foundry to my visit. I look forward to trying more things on the menu. read more

We grabbed take-out as the open air front part of the restaurant was closed, and we are not yet comfortable eating indoors, due to Covid. First and likely my last time here. Great concept, wonderful scratch menu with a large local selection. Specials Monday thru Friday, including 3 for $5 Taco Tuesday. The bar has a great craft beer selection with custom cocktails. We came out tonight as a party of 9 to celebrate a birthday. We had reservations for 6:30, arriving a few minutes early, we were sat immediately and then we just SAT. After a few inquiries a server finally made her way to our table, introduced herself and walked away. Once drink orders were taken, out server Christen disappeared again. Upon reappearance, she took food orders rather quickly, too quick for first time patrons. It looked like our food was finally coming out, one order at a time by servers from other stations, christen was not one of them. Plates were missing, condiments never brought and drink orders not refilled unless you asked quite a few times. The food was good, great even. We had pizza, tacos, chicken and waffles, crab cakes, pretzels and house made chip dip. Did I mention the food was great! The service was bad, really bad. It was a Tuesday night, approximately 10 or so other tables were occupied, not a busy night at all. I understand that as a party of 9 gratuity is automatically billed, even if the tabs are split into multiple checks. Unfortunate for us, the service was not 20% worthy. As a former bartender and server, I feel confident in posting a not so good review. I hope the service gets better, the Foundry is an eclectic funky discs with awesome food. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. First time here. Nice looking restaurant with a nice crowd. The menu was really good. A lot of different choices. No drinks today just iced tea. I ordered a wedge salad. It was delicious, best I have had in a really long time. Ordered 5 chicken "wings", I would pass on those next time. They weren't regular wings they were boneless...on the dry side. There are enough TVs scattered around to make it a decent place to watch sports. Everything seems very clean. Service - very good. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Everything was served in a timely manner. Food - very good. I ordered a cup of lobster bisque and a cheeseburger with the restaurant's homemade chips. The soup was flavorful, but there were only crumbs of lobster (no pieces of any size. The cheeseburger was excellent. The bun was fresh and the burger was large and cooked perfectly. However, the chips were so salty, they were barely edible. My wife ordered the French fries. They were similar to, what I call, fair fries and Idid like them. Value - very good. Amazing find for an I-80/I-90 traveller. Take a couple of minutes to go to revitalizing down Elyria. The Foundry is an outstanding restaurant and tavern. Awesome beer and bourbon list, great specials. Our meals (caprisi, wasabi deviled eggs, and spaghetti Asian were all delicious. Great, attentive service. One of my favorite places in Elyria to eat. The drink menu has such great variety and supports local brews, which is always a plus. The food is also always pretty good - its really easy to find something you'll like! I personally always get the BLT salad w/o bacon, sub avocado and they have no problem making it taste delicious for my needs. I also like this place because it is such a good place to eat at with friends or family. The reservation/large party room is cozy and accommodating, so I highly recommend asking to be seated in this area with a large party for reservations (after the pandemic is over). Additionally, the layout makes it easy to socially distance so that you can dine without having to worry about anything. Finally, parking is on the street and in the parking lot to the side, and there is plenty of it, so that's a plus! read more

I always had good food before but today was the worst. The sweet potatoes were not much bigger than the ball of sweet butter on top. One was so small and had so little flesh that it looked like it was just the shell of one that was previously eaten. It was returned. My portabello sandwich was small, dismal and disappointing. Very little of anything between the bread and could have passed for buttered bread at first glance. It had one small slice of mushroom on each half. It should have been called an onion sandwich as it had a few stringy carmelized onions and not much else. The pork chops were also different and not served as they had been in the past. One had a sliver of apple and the others had nothing. The fact that the sweet potatoes and my sandwich made it to the table is concerning. Never should have left the kitchen. read more

I had my mom's 70 birthday party here. This place was amazing! They were so accommodating. I needed a place that could host up to 25 people and they had a special room, off to the side. If I wanted it private, there were doors. They let us come in early to decorate and we were there a total of 4.5 hours. The service was amazing. I am so thankful for the hospitality we were shown! Friends had been telling us about $5 Monday Burger Night, so we finally made the trip. I love the atmosphere and the decor. There are old pictures everywhere as well as fun "characters". The bar is impressive and well designed. There are tons of seats, and at 5:45 on a Monday we were easily seated. Service was quick and our server was friendly. We all opted for the burgers, with different toppings. 2 had fries, and 2 had the chips. The burgers came in a timely manner and were hot. We all ordered medium well and they all came that way. I seldom have the burgers I order cooked to the temperature I prefer. I was thrilled! Plus, all the burger orders were right. We did ask for yellow mustard and mayonnaise on the side, and had to wait while they went back and found those condiments. My only complaint was with the chips and fries. The chips were soooooooo salty they were pretty much inedible. I think we got the leftover fries as they were all little pieces and didn't seem fresh. I would definitely return when I can try some of the great martinis they had as well as the craft beer. read more

Kept hearing good things about this place so we decided to come. We ordered the salsa and guac to start with. The salsa had a gross flavor, we didn't bother eating it and the guac was salty. I ordered boneless wings which were good and my partner ordered the burger and he liked it. The French fries were weird. I think it was the fact that they didn't taste fresh. My husband and I have always had a great time at the foundry. Food is great, service is always on Point and good vibes all around.

I want to give Foundry five stars because the food is consistently delicious and the space is inviting and lively. The service is also consistent - if you enjoy being treated like an annoyance and waiting far longer than necessary to get orders in and your check taken care of. Look, this place could be fantastic and clearly has some issues with staffing where there are sometimes not nearly enough servers working the bar and floor. But even on the best days, the servers - as a whole, it's not isolated to one or two, it's all of them - pull the most obvious tactics for ignoring tables by appearing busier than they are. I was a server, I know the game. They will do everything to avoid eye contact, with the quick head sweeps to look like they're checking on things as they move through too quickly to prevent you from catching their attention unless you are prepared to wave them down. They also have a habit of checking on only one table at a time and then heading back to the bar to chat and "pick up drinks" aka hang out til one set of drinks are made, then huffing and looking around when they do deign to check on you to give the appearance of being rushed and busy every time they choose to stop by your table - it's pretty clear they just don't give a crap about moving things along. I don't need them to treat me like their best friend, but damn sometimes I just want another drink after finishing my first. Let me spend more money! I have only once, after multiple visits to this spot, had a server who checked in on my table regularly and got us our drinks, food, and check within a reasonable amount of time without making me feel like I was a massive inconvenience. The staff needs some training. This can be a real sh*t job and I'm not asking for royal treatment by any means (I don't think anyone should kiss a** just for a tip), but I don't want to wait 15 minutes to get in an order, wait 15 minutes after finishing a drink to ask for another, and wait then another 15 minutes to get the check once I'm done with my food. I don't want to have to flag someone down every single time just for the basics of service to be fulfilled. Furthermore I have never once, after a year plus of coming here, encountered a manager or owner. No manager has ever introduced themselves or checked in, I never see anyone managing the floor to ensure things are moving along. Despite being relative regulars by this point, no one recognizes us, no one bothers to. Much as I want to love this place, it's increasingly difficult to justify going. When every night there feels like an off night, it gets pretty tiring. TLDR: could be great, it's worth a visit for the food, don't expect much from the service. read more

My wife and I ordered a variety of appetizer and main dishes...deviled eggs, fried pickles (one of their specialties), poutine and a burger. * Wasabi deviled eggs - slight kick of the wasabi overpowered by the Sriracha sauce they were plated over * Fried pickles - the best dish of the bunch, briny and served with a cooling ranch dressing * Poutine - started off okay, but served with shoestring fries it became cold quickly and all of the gravy settled at the bottom made for a half dish soggy mess * Burger - a half beef and half bacon concoction that turned out very dry Idea wise they certainly had some creative recipes, but actual preparation left much to be desired.
