The exterior look a little divey, but the reviews were good so we went in. Wow. This cafe has a soft 70's vibe that welcomed us. Vintage rock posters covered a wall. Wooden tables were scattered around. There's a coffee and tea bar. The ladies working were very kind and efficient. The menu had a few salads and sandwiches. (Earlier we asked a shop owner for a good lunch spot. She said Woodstock had the best and healthiest food in town.) We ordered and shared the Rueben, asking for a side of Cole slaw to go with the second plate. There is a beer list, but none of the beers were local. I asked for coffee and a fresh pot was made. A hippie enclave in the middle of nowhere Ohio, serving up high quality, California inspired food, with classic rock & roll memorabilia on the walls? Sure, why not?! Sign me up! We found Woodstock by accident, having rolled into town for a weekend visit, and found an empty parking spot in front right as the lunch rush was over. We walked in, not expecting much, and were more than pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere and staff. I imagine if you spend any amount of time in Vermillion Ohio, Woodstock would become your home base, and while we were only able to visit the once, I secretly wished we could have something like this closer to our home. Here's the problem: *you're a coffee place and don't open until 9 am *you're a restaurant in a weekend town and close at 6 pm. The food is great! The ambiance is great! But when your hours are soooooo limited, I just don't know how they can afford to keep their doors open for the limited time that they do. We ordered food at 5:00 pm, we're told 15-20 minutes. Off to a good start. Compostable straws!! Lots of Jerry Garcia memorabilia. We stumbled upon this establishment while coming to Vermillion for the Ice Festival. Glad we found it. I have been here before, but I was looking forward to trying their pizzas before I wrote my review. Sadly, there was no pizza today. Their toppings. list includes anvhovies, today there were no anchovies available... so I didn't get a pizza. (Anchovies are a fantastic way to observe how a kitchen is working. Good anchovies are a delight, discount anchovies are what chains serve and are the primary reason anchovies have the reputation they have among the general population...) So, I opted for the Reuben. Reuben sandwiches have a reasonably simple formula and balancing the ingredients is a good thing. My server, a younger person, in late high school / early college was prompt and rather curt with the "we don't have anchovies" snap. Suddenly I could see the writing on the wall... Here is your sandwich now I shall disappear until I bring you the check. The sandwich arrived and she did vanish rapidly, which is a shame because I would have really liked a shake of pepper onto the sandwich and the coleslaw. The provided chips were amazing and also very sparse. Like less chips than in a 50 cent charity bag of Lays. Think: airline portion of potato chips in economy. I would have paid for extra, but. alas my server had long sincr vanished into the ether. The sandwich proper had all of the requisite components in reasonable quantities. It was described as being pressed in a panini type of machine which should have made the exterior toasty with panini stripes and some char. I calculate that the sandwich spent less than 15 seconds in the press as the ridges from the pressing were present, but the toastyness was not. Zero outsude crunch and warm innards. A bit more kraut and a smidgen less 1000 island would have been to my liking, but that is some fine-tuning in the face of the rest of the sandwich dissonance. The coleslaw was harmless and I think would have been the star of the plate with some black pepper added. But there were no shakers on the table and my server was. AWOL... All of the other servers were studiously busy with their guests and I couldn't get anyone to notice me. Last. time I was here I had a sub and it was exemplary. This visit really tempered that experience. Yhe atmosphere is pleasantly quirky and the musak was set on hippy-dippy, which was perfect for the venue. I just wish they had stuff to make a pizza and that my servern hadn't evaporated... but they didn't and they did. So 2 stars. Quirky and engaging atmosphere. You don't have to be a hippy to love this place, but being a hippy makes the experience better. The inside is small, so social distancing is a little difficult. The coffee bar is always a good choice if wanting to keep the distance. The decor is the best part of the place. I'm a huge hippy Woodstock fan and really believe that in my past life I was there. From Janis Joplin to Jimmy Hendricks, music covers are spread over the walls which brings the vibe of being in the audience to life. Oh, wait.... we need to talk about food - right? Not Woodstock music and performers. The Woodstock Cafe offers soups and sandwiches. The menu is different each time we go, which is about once a year because we live in Cincinnati. They also offer a wide range of coffees, teas, and hot chocolate drinks. Whether you are looking for a place to take a break or for a delicious lunch, this is the place to go. Woodstock has always been a place I enjoyed but it's recently become my favorite spot in Vermilion. My family has ordered takeout from them several times recently and we always love it. The decor is so cute. From the Woodstock memorabilia to vintage concert posters and general hippie vibes, I love it in here the minute I walk in. It's the type of place you could stay and truly hangout a while. They also have a small outdoor seating area if you're seeking some fresh air. The salads at Woodstock are big and hearty. We usually end up each getting a salad and splitting a pizza. My favorite is the Maui Waui Hawaiian pizza. While most artisan pizzas tend to me thin and flimsy, these are anything but! What a great place this is. Would have never stopped here without reading the positive Yelp reviews. Very unique little stop. It's a mix of tables with bar stools, regular chairs, and large wicker bucket chairs. Great seating for this size of place. It's coffee shop meets a beer list with good food and great music. The food was fresh and very good. Enjoyed the submarines and a salad. Cool older building with an old tin ceiling. However the place was cramped especially during Covid times. Also I would not recommend taking young children. The restaurant does not have good seating for them. Also cups don't have lids so my son accidentally spilled it and one of the staff members was not very happy about it. read more

Felt completely safe eating on patio on a late Saturday afternoon the service was exceptional and friendly. The food here is salad and sandwich fare in addition to their pizza. I had the magic bus chicken sandwich and it was excellent. A perfect blend of seasonings and bacon was crumbled which is way better than strips. Served with house chips and coleslaw, it hit the spot. It is a fun and funky little oasis in the middle of downtown Vermilion and the names of their menu items alone will make you smile. Only alcohol is beer, but they have a nice list of craft beers to choose from. Was driving along the North Coast on RT 6 and decided to stop in Vermillion Ohio for some coffee. Woodstock Cafe was right in the small crossroad area so we thought we'd give it a try! What a cool little cafe! We ordered latte and a chai tea, service was friendly and the Baristas were great as was our drinks. We ended up ordering the "Far out man" pizza. My boyfriend and I have been here twice so far and love it! The atmosphere is so cozy! The first time we went we got the bruschetta which was amazing! I had the grateful grilled cheese and loved it so much I got it again the second time we came! I used to love this restaurant. Then they took out the bar and shortened their hours so much that you can't go for dinner unless you get home at noon. Then you look at the website and they rarely update it, but you get excited they may be open late. Although I did not order any, the coffee options sounded very good. We ordered a 12 in pizza (1/2 Maui Waui 1/2 Meaty) & a sub (San Francisco). Food was brought out in a decent amount of time & the everything was good. I loved how thin the pizza was but was heavy on the toppings. I looked up their menu online & the other options on the full menu sound delicious. Loved this place after a stop through vermillion at lunchtime. the owner (i assume) was attentive and puts a lot of care and love into the restaurant. they also have a nice selection of coffee beans that you can take home. i had the chicken salad for lunch with a beer. very good choice! across the street is an old time chocolate store and the lake is a short walk away. service was excellent, keep up the good work. read more

This cafe is very cute and we were excited to find it until we got our food. We ordered veggie burgers (and are vegetarian) but when they came they tasted like meat. We attempted to confirm that we had the right order and were informed that they were Impossible burgers which are designed to taste exactly like meat and are extremely processed. We asked to switch out our food since we didn't know this when we ordered and the owner came out. The owner was extremely rude and insisted we pay for the burgers. He continued with the statement that he wished he could review customers like us and stalked away. The rest of the staff was apologetic but we won't be back. read more

We stopped through Vermilion on our way out West and, as a rule, we like to try local joints. Woodstock was a real treat! We enjoyed the Roasted Beet salad with chicken and the 16" Maui Waui pizza as a family. The salads are very large and a meal in their own right, and the pizzas are amazing. The thin crusts are delicious! It's by far the best pizza we've had in a long time. Also, their craft beer selection is superb. If you're in this neck of the woods, it's worth a bite! read more

It used to be one of our favorite places in Vermillion. No more. We stopped in today at lunchtime. Place should have been full, yet it wasn't. Back room was empty. Service was a bit slow but acceptable, she didn't seem too thrilled with her job, but OK, not my problem. Sandwiches were OK, coleslaw was delicious. Then the check came. Hmm... sandwiches as expected, 14.00 each. Coffee and tea were a bit pricey, especially since no refills were offered and we didn't order anything special, just coffee & tea, but OK, no big deal. Then I see a charge of $ 3.50 labeled "Nonalcoholic beverage tax". What? WTH is that? Another ploy to pad the check? Never heard of that one! Then the normal tax. Made me wonder if they're pricing themselves out of business, especially with sneaky little additions like that. We won't be returning. There are better places than that in Vermillion. read more

Stopped in on a cold winter day to get some delicious coffee and sandwiches. Was not disappointed. The retro/rock and roll vibe was very very cool. The atmosphere was super homey. The special house lattes were served in adorable coffee mugs and were beyond delicious. The sandwiches were pretty good and huge. If you like unique cafes check. this. place. OUT! I am writing in support of Rachel A.'s post from last night. I was one of the customers sitting near her group. Everything she posted is true. I have been to this establishment many times over the years, and was shocked at how her group was treated. Maybe the gentleman/owner was tired, short staffed, etc but that is no way to treat customers. We were extremely uncomfortable at the gentleman/owner yelling at this group, who were indeed talking calmly and trying to explain/diffuse the situation. We couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. Not sure I'll ever go back. "Hippie" vibe? Not so much. read more

Meh, we didn't have the best experience here. We had hoped to hear some groovy tunes, Like any band that was at Woodstock would have Been expectEd, but instead 80's hair bands and radio commercial blasted on the outdoor speaker. The food choices were lacking substance, I just wasn't drawn to anything at all. Maybe if we got a pizza we would have enjoyed it more. There are also some gutters attached to the side of the building with what looks like big weeds pouring out. It would be so cool if that was an herb garden used by the kitchen.?.? Cons: This is a pro and a con: I went in knowing I wanted a "beyond meat burger," and it wasn't on their lunch menu. I knew they had one though from reading other reviews. All I had to do was ask for it, and they made one for me. The waitress explained that it's on the dinner menu. I wish I could rate the food but after waiting 1 hour and 40 min we never got it. The place was cute decor and sounded like it would be good but the service was terrible. We felt like we were in the twilight zone because the waitress kept telling us why they had no ice and how the ice truck was coming and then brought us ice, but no news of when we might see our food.
