I was really excited to have a luxury vacation experience at what I thought would be a 5-star hotel, but unfortunately Fontainebleau really dropped the ball. PROS: -We stayed in the Sorrento Tower on the 10th floor. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool and beach, and the view was phenomenal. The balcony itself was very spacious and one of the highlights of our stay. -The valet staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Every time we arrived or departed, we were greeted with a smile, helped with our bags, and wished safe travels. Valet service was also very quick--whenever we called for the car, it was ready within 5-10 minutes. -The room was spacious, although a bit outdated. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of outlets for charging devices. There was a separate mini fridge for guest use, along with the stocked minibar (which charges $30 just to open the door). Unfortunately, the soaking tub was in poor condition with pink mold and brown staining throughout. -The three elevators in our tower were extremely fast, which made getting around very convenient. CONS: -The majority of the staff, aside from valet, were rude and unwelcoming. At a "5-star luxury resort," you expect top-tier service--especially after spending about $3,000 for a three-night stay. That wasn't our experience. Service seemed to depend heavily on how guests looked. Multiple times I saw staff go above and beyond for guests dressed head-to-toe in designer brands and Rolex watches, while completely ignoring others who didn't fit that image. -As a Certified Pool Operator for many years, I was honestly shocked by the condition of the pools. Considering the price of the rooms plus additional service and amenity fees, I expected much better maintenance. The plaster surfaces in many of the pools were extremely rough, actually scraping the bottoms of my feet. There was noticeable staining, and a slick film on the water's surface from oils and lotions. The tile lines had thick layers of grime, and the pool floors were full of sand, broken hair ties, and drink straws. The children's slide pool was closed our entire stay, and the Sorrento Tower pool was also closed. Only three pools were heated, while the rest were very cold. The main pool started the day clear but turned cloudy by mid-afternoon. The hot tubs were more like "warm tubs," sitting around maybe 90 degrees. Then there's the LIV Dayclub pool, which blasts heavy bass music nonstop--definitely not ideal if you're hoping to relax. Ironically, we had a balcony overlooking the pool area and spent a lot of time out there reading and people-watching. During that time, we only saw maintenance come out to "vacuum" one pool--and that's generous to call it vacuuming--before wrapping up for the evening. The pools close at 6 PM, which feels extremely early and leaves plenty of time for proper maintenance and cleaning. Considering the pools are one of the resort's biggest selling points, far more care and attention should be put into maintaining them. With so many iconic hotel options in Miami, I probably wouldn't stay here again. read more

This a review focusing on the many little notable differences from a typical hotel: ROOM 1. Coffee (or lack thereof) - ABSENT. There are no coffee makers in the room and no drip coffee in the lobby. If you want coffee, you'll be paying ~$7 for a cup after having to go wait in line in a very small crowded space Chez Bon Bon.* *CBB doesn't have any standing room and only 2 small tables but their pastries make it worth it. Everything at was delicious though. 2. Clock/Alarm clock - ABSENT 3. Cotton Balls/Q-Tips/etc. - ABSENT (BUT they DO have a shower cap) 4. Water - ABSENT No free bottled water. No water dispensers in the lobby. If you decide you do want the bottled water in your room, you'll be paying ~$12. There were only 2 glasses in the room despite the reservation was for 4 people. Also, the only water dispensers I remember were outside by the pool and in the gym. 5. Mini Fridge - ABSENT (BUT they do have a small mini bar/snack area which appears to be weight sensitive) 6. Robes - ABSENT (I wouldn't have expected them.) STAFFING 1. Concierge desk - Woefully understaffed but when it was staffed - the staff were wonderful! 2. Check-in desk - Again, poorly staffed - but when staff were there there was always a line and the staff were less than helpful. 3. Baggage area - We got there early and there were 6 of us. They were willing to hold the baggage but when 2 of us went to pick up the baggage, they refused to let us use one of their baggage carts with no explanation - so I had to go get the other guests because 2 people was not enough for all the bags. RESTAURANTS 1. Indoor restaurants - Fabulous food and excellent service! 2. Lobby bar - Good drinks, ok service and gets absolutely packed with young scantily clad ladies when their club LIV opens. OUTDOOR/POOL SIDE 1. "Hot Tubs" - There are 2. When I asked where they were the staff member said "Well, we have a "warm tub" and a "slightly warmer tub" and they were not kidding... Both were packed. The "warm tub"s jets didn't seem to be working. The "slightly warmer tub" had jets and felt like a heated pool. 2. Outdoor dining/pool service - Pleasant staff and good food but slow and not accurate. read more

The most unwelcoming staff at the reception. They treated us as if they had a goal to ruin our vacation. This hotel was our first pick whenever we traveled to Miami Beach, but no more. It took 6 hours to get us our room. 1st come first serve doesnt apply in this hotel. Had to struggle with 4 front desk clerk, just to get what I thought was right by the manager. And boy was I surprised after getting my room. Nothing in it was functioning right, and that was a junior suite in the Sorrento tower. Shower head shooting all over, toilet seat falling apart, electrical outlet not working, balcony door not locking right, we had to put pillows on our ears to fall asleep because tge whistling winds. Been going there for the last 15 years, bringing my friends with us, every vacation. We get at least 3-4 suites everytime, but F it. We are done with the Jks. No more! read more

Be warned!! If your a guest at this hotel you get what you pay for!! The hotel is fine. Service is acceptable. Upon checking in, We heard anyone guest complaining about the noise. We didn't know that meant club music until 3 am!! We could hear the music and people screaming in our 6th floor room!! Awesome service by Alex on the beach. Great empanadas on the beach. Alex gave great advice and speaks English. The hotel isn't worth jt. They close the hotel hot tub at 5:30 when is still shining. Ritz Carlton has better rates and better drink offers. They don't even have a coffee pot/machine in room. Or a fridge that works. Stay else where and save money. Alex still is the best part of Fountainebleau. We are from Texas. This place needs to step it up big time. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm typing this from my 3rd different room assignment in the hotel. They should be embarrassed to ever claim to be or have been more than a 2 star hotel. Customer service is god awful. The front desk is rude, the manager is rude, and all of the servers/pool employees have a disgusting attitude problem. My first room had a stained lampshade. Bed linens had holes in them. Bath tub water was literally brown with stuff floating in it. Spent hundreds renting Cabanas by the pool and they ran out of mint, pina coladas, strawberry daiquiris and any sort of fruity flavoring. Drinks took forever to come and the servers disappeared for 30 mins on. Couldn't seem to get any of the orders correct. Room service was a joke. Coffee tasted like battery acid. VALET IS A JOKE. 1st room our TV was broken and room definitely wasn't cleaned. Fingerprints everywhere (you'd think they'd be a little more concerned with cleanliness during Covid) I WOULD STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE. It was actually appalling. I've had friends that said it was great prepandemic but i'm finding that extremely hard to believe with how garbage this whole experience has truly been. Don't waste your money. read more

Service was trash to be polite. Bouncers are aggressive and unreasonable. Tried to go to bathroom during a concert and was locked out from the area I paid extra to be in. Had to basically bribe a bouncer to let me back in and see my family again. Prices are crazy, and the main events for most of the showings are outshined by the random no name dj's that they hire. Went to go see Calvin Harris (1000 dollar experience) and he came onstage very late in the showing and for a disappointing amount of time. Fountainebleau, I hope you see this and improve. You lost a customer, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know of this. It's also like 10 bucks for a Reese's. Not to mention you are basically forced into tipping if you want any basic services at the pools or beach. read more

Such a beautiful hotel located in miami! My best friend won tickets to the y100 pool party and so i went with her, her bf and another friend. We had so much fun and definitely enjoyed being in the pool with this hot summer we are having! The only downside is drinks, super expensive (welcome to miami duh) lol after the pool party we headed over to the lawn for the concerts. They had a few giveaways and samples of drinks as well. Nice hotel.... but the first room they put us in on the 35th floor smelled like pure mold and u could see mold,half of the snacks out the mini bar was gone and all the waters gone.. I didn't get pics of the first room, we then had them move us to the 25th and that room was much better no smell but the shower head was loose and not connected to the wall, the toilet paper holder was lose and I could actually spin it around my husband tighten it a lil bit to stay stable the wall. walls dirty and none of the lamps were plugged up! Amazing hotel, only place to stay in Miami. We stayed here for our 2 year anniversary for 1 week and man every day we had something to do.

I don't even know where to began we booked a room got the keys and the room was occupied. We go down there get another room. The keys never worked I came home drunk just to find that I couldn't get in my room. Ok we got another set of keys by the next day I still couldn't get in my room the manager Keandra was nothing but useless the costumer service I received was embarrassing. He popped up out of no where to help us out of difficult situations twice. He got us a reservation at a restaurant and when I was not feeling well he got us a later checkout at no charge. The service was terrible! Rooms weren't properly cleaned! They made a mistake on the billing of the room and as soon as I realized it I called them! They said they would do it and never did! Updated review post Covid- They reply have stepped it up on customer service, cleaning and beach service/ restaurants. Yes we went back after that last review because this is truly one of my favorite hotels. I think Covid make everyone short staffed and they closed everything early last time, no music it was ridiculous. This time we enjoyed the brunch daily at Vita restaurant, dinner and strip steak, Pool side service and they had pool parties and a Dj! The many restaurants on site are delicious and the staff members are so kind. Good: I have stayed in their Versailles Tower. My room had both beach and downtown views. Beds were comfortable, upscale finish in bathroom. Facility was very clean. They have plenty of restaurants and a night club. Tried couple of them, they were good. Also went to their LIV night club, its okay. Bad: Their rooms are stocked with cheap toiletries (in good bottles though); hair dryer is from 70s (okay may be 90s). Unlike other 4-5 star hotels, they do not have Bluetooth capability on their TVs to play Netflix or for that matter, they don't have that feature built in at all. Worse: This hotel has at least 4 towers (it may have more, but I did not notice) and for all 4 towers, they have one gym and its towards one end of the complex(campus). There are no showers in their gym. The guy at gym hands you over a rolled towel after you signed in. What is this ? University gym or a upscale hotel??? Gym also does not offer complimentary ear phones (like many at this price range). However, it has wide range of exercise equipment though. They do have refresh lounge in LL of Versailles tower. That place has bathrooms and towels. My flight was not until late evening; so after checking out and checking in my luggage with their luggage storeroom I went to the gym and had to walk over half of the hotel complex in my sweaty outfit to get to refresh lounge. It was not a pleasant experience. Then I find out there is no body lotion, but I was told I wouldn't need to take any toiletries as they stock the room well; well it was not the case. I called guest services and I was transferred and then transferred and then transferred ... maybe 4 times. No response from anyone. I got tired and hung up. They do not have a decent hair dryer either. It was broke and full of lint. I do not even bother. All in all - if you want a personalised service, this hotel is not for you. There is nothing luxurious in there, just a lot of hype. I have a suspicion that after spending ridiculous $$ on this hotel, people convince themselves that they are staying at a luxurious resort. read more

My car took an HOUR to be pulled up after being told 20 minutes!!! Managers just said to call the police. Wouldn't give any names!!! Not even Managers gave names. They also told me my money wasn't stolen. HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED! HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Also didn't get into out room until 6 when check in is at 4. This hotel has been in my bucket list for years and I'm sad to say I have been sadly disappointed from my check in experience to trying to get my money back so I can go somewhere else. The hotel clientele act like animals, the halls reek of marijuana, there are roaches, there has been a domestic dispute going on in the room next to me and I can't sleep. When I try to find resolution, the staff tells you to call the reservation line who isn't open for calls. I tried to get a seat on the beach and you can't even get a seat where you can see the water unless you rent a $350 cabana! I could go on and on... no umbrellas or towels available at the pool. Worst Stay Experience Ever!! My experience at Fountainbleu have been one of my worst experiences ever and highly do no recommend to stay. Their 5 star reputation is slowly falling off and not at top tier as they once was known for. Be prepared for long check-ins and reservations mishaps. We booked and prepaid for our hotel room and once we arrive was told they could not find our reservations. Not to mention their system have been down for weeks so the organization there is awful! After having a horrible conversation with their guest services who refused to get management to help resolve our situation we had to threaten to call corporate to get a room for the weekend. After dealing with their low service and lack of customer service now we are facing double payments on our credit which is another mishap on their end. We have been calling for over a week for them to refund our money but there's no sense of urgency in doing so. There main excuse is THE SYSTEM IS DOWN!!! I repeat do not stay here! read more

I had an early morning flight to catch and called for a bell hop before I went to sleep to help with my luggage and again when I woke up as I didn't trust the service. No one showed up. The maid service was much more helpful than any other worker in the establishment. Called for a Microwave, it took one hour to come to our room. Asked for towels and ice, brings only ice. Checkout at 12 pm then we get locked out with our cards with our bags still in the room. We go down to get new cards. Then the door still doesn't open. Nothing compensated. Not worth coming back to a shit establishment who claims to be over 2 stars. They don't clean the public restrooms either. Our room also had empty bottles in our fridge and took pics left just on our window. Not the best experience. To drop alot of money and not get at least decent service not worth it. Where do I start with this terrible hotel. It was my first trip to Florida and I was so damn excited to be in Miami for my 30th birthday. My father and I were staying across from each other. I got to my room and this is the beginning of a terrible experience. My room was completely dirty and disgusting. On top of that it smelled STRONG like cannabis, which I don't care but it shows they didn't clean. On top of all of that the mini bar was completely empty and these turds tried to charge me for it. Across the hall from me at my dads room he discovered a USED CONDOM and bag of COCAINE with my 6 month old sister in the room. I was in shock. You might ask, what did the hotel do.....NOTHING. We called several times to try to get this handled..NOTHING. Talked to the front desk and they were absolutely awful and rude with no remorse. No help what so ever and did nothing about it. Mind you we were spending a ton of money on our suites and at the bar and they dont give a F***. If I could give this hotel a 0 or negative I would. They clearly need different management or to just disappear all together. NEVER GO HERE, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE because for sure you will catch something awful from the lack of cleaning. read more

They gave us a fan and didn't look into the problem, on day 2 it got worse and we told them- no one came to check it out. On day 3 when the room below us complained about leaking they called us at 6:30 pm in the middle of getting ready to go out they told us to change rooms. The bellman took 2 hours to come our room. We missed our dinner reservations and club reservations. They "credited" us money for drinks and endured on the day of checkout we could use it for drinks and check out at 3 pm. Come the day of checkout, we got locked out at noon. Couldn't use "room charge" for drinks or food etc. the supervisor didn't answer her phone (when she gave us the back line). I could go on and on. This place was a horrific experience. I would never ever stay here again. I truly don't understand how they're a "5 star" hotel. read more

They overbooked their hotel rooms and didn't let us into our room until 5pm. We landed at 11 am and waited 6 hours for hour room to be cleaned. Hotel rooms are in rough shape. Dirty carpets. Ceiling in bathroom peeling. Rust on countertops. Furniture falling apart. Cannot get a reservation in a restaurant. We waited two hours to eat in a pizza restaurant and they are out of most of the items we want. If you are coming for a high end weekend don't bother. This is a spring break resort for college students who cannot afford the Four Seasons. read more
