Walked into a record store to view some of the vinyl music selections when I spotted a large wine bar in the back of the building with a beautiful view. Stopped at the bar and ordered a soda. The bar is actually part of a wine cooperative to support the small local wineries in Jerome. They offer their facility for small businesses to try out their brands to the public. You can order a number of samplers, or a particular brand. They also serve wine ice cream floats if that is your choice. Nice ambience and place to cool down and enjoy the view. read more

The wines here are a little hit or miss for me, but they have a malvasia bianca that is kicking, so I can't help but give it a little love. The service was really great, and I loved how it was quiet and chill when we stopped in. They have an amazing view from a comfortable seating area. There are even a few board and card games you can play while hanging out. There was an adult version of Trivial Pursuit was a lot of laughs. It is located in the back of a record store that is excellent for people watching, and I kind of feel bad for the staff having to deal with crazy fans, but it is what it is. I liked that the pretension level was dialed way back from Caduceus next door. read more

Not my favorite wine drinking place, but the venue was interesting as when you walk in you go past an entire rack of vinyl records available for purchase. The views were nice at the back near the bar, but the only thing all of us really didn't like was the music choice blaring loudly. It was kind of a metal band vibe on the speakers and I wouldn't say it matched the vibe of a traditional wine tasting experience and it was pretty overstimulating to listen to. read more

Staff was very knowledgeable of the options when winetasting. They also had non-alcoholic beverages. The view was fantastic! The inside of the business was full of old things to look at. And we were there on Martin Luther king Junior day and there was an old radio tape machine playing that I had a dream speech. It truly made the experience eclectic. Prices were fair except for the stemware which was very overpriced. Restrooms are downstairs and you have to have a ticket before you go to down there and the staff down there was not too friendly. A nice tasting room to visit to get the lay of the land in Jerome! This wine co-op and tasting room allows the smaller vineyards in the area to sell their wine without a larger distributer, providing visitors with the chance to taste wines you won't find anywhere else! Plus, the room plays mostly rock music (inspired by support from Tool frontman Maynard Keenan and his Caduceus Cellars down the street), which made for a nice change in atmosphere from most other wine tasting rooms I've visited in my life. Although service was a bit slow due to staffing shortage it seemed, we had a nice visit and tried a bunch of the co-op vineyards in some flights. A spot I would recommend as a unique place to enjoy a glass of wine! read more

I had to stop by here today since a friend of mine had bought a bottle last year from the store next door (two doors down) that is also a part of this same project supported by Maynard. Along with being a fan of Maynard's music, the wine was fantastic. So research into what else they had was absolutely needed. We got as far as this first spot and the very first wine I tried (and only one I tried as I was hooked), wound up in a sale. They don't have much of a selection compared to the other spot a few doors down, but so far, I like it a lot. It isn't about wine so much as it is the records though for this one, as it is mostly a record store with some apparel downstairs and the small wine bar/tasting in the back. Record prices seemed on part with that of something like Guitar Center, so that was nice to see, and the staff was awesome. They were also very adamant about using the hand sanitizer on the way in and the use of masks to help protect everyone during COVID concerns. It's a fun place to hit if you're a fan of music, records, and wine. I actually visited the store this round with the same friend that found the bottle last time for me. This place is VERY interesting. A wine co-op with super interesting merch! Theres wine on tap at the bar and a little lounge are as well as high top table seating with a beautiful view. There was tons of vinyl records for sale as we walked in and tons of cool/different gifts/souvenirs. It had kind of a Spencer's gifts vibe only cooler. There is also and actual barber shop in the basement. There's an old cigarette machine that has been converted into a mini art machine. You buy tokens from the cashier and put one in the machine, chose an option, and out pops a little piece of original art from a local artist! read more

At the Certified LocalAZ First Fall Festival in Phoenix I met Aaron Weiss. He is a tasting room teller for Four Eight Wineworks. After sampling "Merum", a delightful red from Iniquus Cellars, I was surprised to learn two things. Four Eight Wineworks is a coop. Their tasting room offers beer (open 7 days a week). Winemaking can be an expensive adventure. This cooperative enables almost anyone to join the pursuit of creating "that amazing bottle of wine". It's no wonder Four Eight Wineworks was at a LocalAZ event. Their wines are truly local products, created by local folk. Four winemakers plus a house wine are available for tasting in their Clarksdale space. Three local beers are on tap. And (there's more!) you can comfortably fit 48 for a party. Four-t-y Eight. A great place with a great view and superb service. I definitely recommend ordering a four pour flight, preferably one of each (red and white) grabbing one of the comfortable chairs by the large windows overlooking the valley below and savoring the moment. What a please surprise in a town that does not have a lot going on. First of the building is an old bank and a super cool atmosphere. There is a little bit of space for outside seating which was perfect since we had the dogs. The owner was very friendly and spent time with us and very helpful and willing to accomadte us with the pets. We had a couple of flights with a nice selection if diffent wines and they all were excellent. They are part of a co-op and again have a very nice selection. read more

Very disappointing. I'm a huge supporter of AZ wines & Four Eight just didn't deliver. The 2 young ladies working seemed unhappy, like they really didn't want to be there. My sister ordered a glass of the Four Eight red blend. She did not receive a full glass because the keg kicked and the bartender did not change the keg. I decided on a red from Heart Wood Cellars. I got the bottom of a bottle that was questionable. I will not return to Four Eight nor will I recommend it. We stopped at Four-Eight Wineworks on recommendation from Corinne at Chateau Tumbleweed since we were in the area and limited on time before we headed back to the valley. What an interesting little spot with history to boot! Who knew there was robbery here at this local bank way back in the day? Coming into the area felt a little like going back in time to old town USA. It was Labor Day weekend so there were flags flying around the town square with the smell of barbecue smoke hanging in the air. Small town USA was made even friendlier when the neighboring business is walking in the door to bring a plate of grilled fixings over to whoever is working at Four-Eight Wineworks too. We did the beer sampler and had a bit of wine while learning from John about the wine growing region and the Viticulture program he's currently attending while working here. Got a chance to hang and chat with Joey, THAT Brewery's Lord of the Yeast, for a while. Heard a lot of entertaining stories about the local wine and beer community that added another layer of intrigue to our fascination with the area. We heard so much that we'll just have to return for us to retain it all in our memories! Good wine, beautiful views out the back.-but the bartender was certainly lacking in customer service skills. My family and I stopped in to have a glass of wine during our day in Jerome. When we got there-there was nobody else there. The bartender, Dylan, was condescending and rude, and as we were leaving accused us of taking a wine glass. Had a fantastic time here after the 4th of July parade. Stoped in with my mother in-law and wife for a few drinks and couldn't have been more impressed. The drinks were awesome and the space is beautiful. Perfect mix of paying tribute to the original bank which occupied space and all of the modern day features you would want in a bar. Four eight wineworks is attached to a little store with a great ambient of punk rock vibes and art. I was excited to finally sit down for the first time to enjoy some wine with my boyfriend as I had always passed by this place but never sat down to enjoy it. Sadly I was extremely disappointed as I was never attended by the 2 ladies working the bar after almost half an hour. We walked into the bar area and sat down but we were never greeted. I saw as they helped out two other parties there. I was patient but after 10 minutes I had to get someone's attention by saying "excuse me", as they passed by me and asked if I had to order at the bar to get something to which she replied no and took our order. I asked for some wine and my boyfriend wanted gelato. One of the ladies came back around a few minutes later and asked if we wanted water and we said yes. We never got our water. Or the wine. Or the gelato. After almost a total of half an hour of waiting, we saw new customers being attended as they began wine tasting. We were sitting right next to the cash register and wine area where the girls constantly passed by. I don't understand why we were seen as undervalued customers but we clearly weren't going to get serviced and we got up and left read more

Stopped here last Sunday on our way back to Phoenix from Antelope Canyon. It is a little out of the way, but we had purchased some good wine here last time we were in town. This is located in an old bank so the decor is intriguing and cool. We were the sole customers the whole time we were inside. Since we were driving, we weren't here for the flights of wine- we really jut wanted to figure out which bottles we wanted to buy. We seemed to be a bother to the gentleman working there. As we talked about which bottles to try, he really didn't want to let us try anything and did not offer any samples. I had to ask specifically for a sample of a wine. He gave me a dingy glass and then did start to share his knowledge of the wines. It was funny that as we tried a couple more, he poured them in the same glass. A little effort would have been nice with fresh glasses. We ended up buying 12 bottles and staying no more than 30 minutes. It was nothing like the great friendly service we received at Chateau Tumbleweed. read more

We stayed in Cottonwood for a long weekend and planned some wine touring while we were there. We were in Clarkdale for the Canyon Verde train ride so checked there also and decided to go by here after our train ride before we headed back to Cottonwood. We were thrilled at the quality of wine they had to taste. We lived in CA for 20 years and so have been spoiled by Napa Valley and other really nice wine tasting areas. In our opinion Four Eight Wineworks had the same quality. As we gave our opinions, the person serving us changed what we tasted to fit what we liked best rather than stay strictly on the list. We ended up buying two bottles which says a lot (we didn't buy any when we did wine tasting in Jerome or Cottonwood). We will make sure we stop by regularly for more tasting whenever we are in the area. read more

I got a bottle of wine from here. They gave me a paper bag which was not strong enough to hold the bottle. It broke and broke the bottle. When I called them they were like we cannot do anything. Seems like they were saying like "You made a mistake by buying a bottle from us". Please don't buy a bottle from them. Don't waste your money to break your bottle. read more

Husband and I went here March 2014. It was a very nice set up, but on a very quiet street. There were a few customers there when we walked in, so that was a good sign. This review is for the Customer Service (or lack thereof) for this business. Since we didn't stay, we cannot review for the wine or any other imbibe here. My partner and I entered with 3 of his family members, their first visit to Clarkdale. Up in crowded Jerome about 12:30pm, we decided to ditch the traffic there and "go down to Clarkdale to Four Eight Wineworks" (we had never been either, so it was to be a treat for us too). Enter about 1:30pm, one gentleman employee at the "bar" he doesn't look up from what he's doing (measuring wine - for who? no one else there) or acknowledge us. We walk over to the window "sofas" and plop down, thinking we will be waited on. Suddenly a limo pulls up with probably fifteen 20to30-something/corporate people on their lunch break. He tells THEM "folks if you want to order something, you'll have to come up here to the bar, I'm all by myself" So we get the picture...they obviously are going to take a LONG time to order - 15 of them -vs- 5 of us. So we decide to leave and go across the street to Main Street/Canoe and Kayak - we eat (and drink) there. Four Eight is a cool place inside, wish we could have tried their wine/offerings. Not sure if we'll return - like to support local business, but it they're not prepared on a Friday afternoon with more than 1 employee to acknowledge a customer... or serve, then why bother?? read more
