Lake Success Dental Care Edith…read more Five stars and a dentist's office sounds like an oxymoron, a contradiction, a paradox. It's like jumbo shrimp or a garbage dump that smells sweet. These things just don't make sense or don't happen...and yet, there's an exception to every rule. In this case, Lake Success Dental Care in New Hyde Park 100% fits that idea. Okay, maybe I just have a very melodramatic history with dentists. I didn't go to one for a length of time I'd rather not discuss just due to never having a legitimate dentist I trusted or felt wouldn't yell at me for lack of brushing/flossing/etc. Then my sis/mother told me about Lake Success Dental Care and I finally decided I needed to bite the bullet (preferably not before a dentist trip, tooth joke) and make an appointment (plus they accepted my insurance, so that worked). Upon entering the office building where the practice is located, I was a ball of nerves, but the nicely-decorated waiting area almost didn't feel like I was about to have people stick their hands in my mouth. Things were comfortable and welcoming, with a phone charging station available if needed. Good start. Once my name was called, the nerves rose a little more, but each employee I met was very kind and I have to say, no one even came close to wagging a finger in my direction due to dental hygiene (even if they probably should have). The dentist I saw that day, Dr. Dai, didn't emanate a great initial friendliness, but he still kept things calm in his process. From that first trip back in November to now, I've visited Lake Success Dental Care four times (one more before a break!) and they've done some great work in getting my mouth all caught up on cleanings and fillings. Each trip was more of the same: calm, welcoming, timely, and never reprimanding (a big win in my book). I also met Edith, who will process your payments before you depart. She's a big reason why I almost (dare I say) enjoy coming to the dentist. Her and the whole friendly staff has made a lasting impression on me (even Dr. Dai opened up this last time around). Two other favorable factors worth mentioning are their hours and notifications. They run crazy times for a dentist's office with nights going until 9 as well as weekend hours available both Saturday and Sunday. They honestly make it hard for you to not find a time that works (even if you try...which I might have done when making that first phone call, heh heh). Once you've got your appointment, they'll call, email, and even text to make sure don't forget when to come in. Even though I'm usually good with dates, it's still great to know when I'm approaching that dental visit (you can't escape it!) Overall, Lake Success Dental Care has turned my world around in how I perceive dentists. I'm sure there are plenty of practices that are actually formidable for those without a childhood phobia of dentistry, but if you're reading this review and fear for your next dental visit, fear no more! They said ok and then kept calling me saying a parent had to go and they didn't want to treat my daughter without a parent. I said please ask a manager and then she said ok a grandparent can take her. When her grandparents got there with her they constant calls kept happening. They asked me a million questions like a stranger off the street took my daughter to the office. Also, my dad said they had an attitude like they didn't like grandparents taking her to the appointment. People have to understand that many families have two parents that work so they should accommodate grandparents taking kids to an appointment. My poor husband had to run over there to go to the appointment because they were giving the grandparents a hard time. They legit called me to make another appointment with a parent present. Once he got there it was an easier experience and they were willing to treat my daughter. However, people shouldn't have to leave work or be harassed at work while their child is being treated for a simple cavity.

The anesthesiologist Dr.Joseph that works with Dr.Seo was very attentive and reassuring. He answered my questions and concerns and made me feel at ease. The procedure went well with no issues. Dr. Joseph and Dr.Seo both called to check up on my daughter that evening. Both doctors communicated to me prior to the procedure and afterwards which made me feel comfortable. We had taken one of our children here years ago, under a previous insurance plan--no issues, covered by insurance as expected. The doctor was fine and competent, though I didn't think she was especially gentle or patient with such a young toddler at her first ever dental visit in a kids-only practice. Fast forward to now, new insurance plan, add another kid into the mix. I literally spoke with this office 3-4 times to check whether our new dental plan was accepted as in-network, what we could expect to pay for the visit, and to confirm date, time, location, etc. I spoke with two separate people from the practice. I confirmed with them that our plan WAS IN-NETWORK with this office, and that some or all of the basic visits would be covered under that accepted plan. So we get there day of--my oldest is extremely stressed out and scared about the visit, I fill out the basic paperwork, and literally AS WE ARE ABOUT TO WALK INTO THE EXAM ROOM we're told our plan is: Not accepted Not in-network with them Won't be covered at any percentage They then confidently ask if we'd like to just pay for the visits out of pocket, which would be nearly $300 combined. Why the hell would I have dental coverage for my family if I wanted to pay $300 every time they need an appointment? The front office then disputes whether I confirmed these details or spoke to them at all, suggesting I may have called the wrong number altogether. Then how could you possibly have the 2 scheduled appointments on your calendar for my kids??? Unreal. I will never go back to this practice with my family. It's a shame, because we previously liked their office location and my kids enjoyed their many toys and games. But unfortunately they're either so inept and poorly run they can't properly check whether a dental plan is accepted prior to you stepping foot with everyone into their practice, or they are just disingenuous and running a scheme to bring you in, then tell you you're out of network to try and force you to pay a ridiculous amount out of pocket for what should be a routine and 100% covered exam and cleaning.

Dr Reale was compassionate, gentle, knowledgeable, funny, and thorough. Everything you could want in a pediatric dentist. Anyhow; My 15 year old developed a bad toothache when he ate sweets or drank or ate anything cold on the bottom left side of his mouth. We were recommended to try out Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos (a local pediatric dentist). When I made the appt, I clearly stated my son just had a check up but has a toothache. I was asked to send photos of his tooth and was given an appointment for a week later. The dental office called me the following day, stating they can get him in sooner being he was in pain. Appt day comes, we waited in waiting room and then exam room for a decent amount of time- ok fine, no big deal. When Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos finally entered the room she asked which tooth hurt and my son pointed to the area. She had different instruments she used to find the exact problem area. Guessing she couldn't see the cavity??? Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos asked if we had x - rays or photos and I told her yes; we emailed them days ago. She then found them. She repeatedly blew cold air, sprayed cold water, and then used another instrument used to tap hard on all the surrounding teeth as well. Dr. Kitsos also had her assistant blow air on the tooth/area for a good amount of time while she held a cell phone over my son's mouth to try to take her own picture. While this was going on my son was moaning in pain and they were completely oblivious, until he literally yelled "stop" After this charade went on for 25-35 minutes she had her assistant the 2 x-rays. Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos finally returned & explained although there may possibly be a cavity in the area, she wasn't sure, she wants us to visit an endodontist to see if something else is going on. (My son was in excruciating pain from all of the cold water spraying and air.) I literally asked the dentist if she could fill what looked like a cavity to me...and then we'll see the endodontist. Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos told me her staff only scheduled my son for a 15 minute consult not a filling appt so she didn't have time to fill the possible little cavity. She did say I could possibly come back to get it done maybe tomorrow or maybe even later that night. At that point, I didn't trust her judgement or didn't like the fact she was lying to me. She had a photo of my son's tooth with a picture of the cavity. She was well aware we were coming for a cavity to be filling by the mere fact they moved his appt up due to the pain he was in. IMO Dr. Elizabeth Kitsos is an incompetent liar. She was careless and unresponsive to my son's pain as she was checking for a cavity. She left him worse than how he started. Absolutely a horrible experience!! FYI- we went to a local dentist in FS. Got an appointment right away. FYI- It was a deep cavity- Cavity was filled today! Amazing experience!

From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by a wonderfully welcoming, kid friendly staff, no wait and the office is spotless. In the waiting room there are activities for the kids and video games. It's nice, they have a TV to keep the kids occupied while their teeth are being checked. Dr Elizabeth as well as the dental assistants also are so friendly and awesome with both of my children. The first time we visited, my son was quite concerned as he had a troublesome loose baby tooth that was not coming out toward the back, a little hard to maneuver. Dr Elizabeth put him at ease with her natural super friendly mannerisms, the kindest smile and funny banter. When it was time for the numbing injection, she knew exactly what to say... he thought it was fun as he was going to receive "sleepy-juice", opened wide, didn't wince or notice that he received a numbing injection. I sat there amazed and said to myself "what a pro"!! All dentists are trained however that type of care and skill comes from within. We recommended Dr Elizabeth Kitsos and her practice to our friends. Their children love her. Some have gone to college, come back during their breaks and insist on continuing to be treated by Dr Elizabeth, their favorite pediatric dentist :) We can't wait for our next visit. I was told my youngest daughter needed certain "upgraded" treatments that would cost close to $10k, including different levels of braces like "platinum," but it didn't seem like there were any real added benefits.The covering manager Britney came across as dismissive and didn't seem very concerned about patients, more about the money. I also overheard staff talking about things that sounded very unprofessional, including discussing other patients in front of others, which felt inappropriate and possibly a violation of HIPAA laws. Another concern is that many of the assistants appear to be in training and don't seem to have much experience, yet they are still working directly on patients. I also noticed QR codes for reviews posted all over the office, and there seemed to be incentives like gift cards offered for positive reviews, which didn't sit right with me. That being said, Dr. V and Urooj are very patient and kind, and I do appreciate them. Overall, this office feels like it has gone downhill since the beginning of this year. I'm honestly just grateful my eldest daughter was able to complete her treatment before the management changes.

After he left to attend to other patients we were just left standing there and waiting for info packet and pricing. No one was around for us to ask about it so I went back to the doctor and he said there's no pricing and hurried walked away. We were a bit confused. The whole reason that we're here is to get pricing. Went back to Jasmin who was busy with another patient and ask for the pricing. Waited longer and she gave us the pricing package. She said our insurance most likely won't approve the palette extender but she'll send it for approval anyway and we can always appeal if it was denied and just wait for her to call us back. We were in the office for over 2 hours. We waited two months (July 2025) and never heard back from jasmine. I called and asked for the status from our insurance approval and was told they didn't have my daughter in the system. I mentioned that Jasmin was supposed to call us back so they suggested that I speak with Jasmin but she was busy so I left a message. A week later I still haven't heard back so I called again but Jasmin wasn't in the office, I left message for her to call me back again but she never did... I'm very disappointed at Straight Set New Hyde Park. They totally dropped the ball and never responded back. I personally will never recommend this place. I called my insurance to double check if they ever submitted the claim and it turns out jasmine never submitted the claim. It worked out in the end cause we found another orthodontist that was love! She was kind, patient and submitted our claim with our insurance the same day and we got a call back that it was approved with in a week! Thank goodness that Straight Set forgot to submit the claim and I was able to find a better orthodontist instead! It's September now and I still haven't heard back from Jasmin from straight set. Now I just tell everyone not to go there cause they really don't care...
