Now, it seems, all of the dentists are being bought out by corporations and run like mills. They rush through patients like an assembly line and are always trying to upsell you. I found a great dentist a couple of years ago and said I would stay with him the rest of my life. But then a corporation bought the place out, so he quit and moved away. So I passed on the next couple of cleanings that my insurance would pay for because I didn't have a dentist that I liked or trusted. But then a friend of ours recommended Dr. Rosvall, my wife went for a cleaning and loved it, so I went too. The hygienist was great--the best I've had! And the dentist, Dr. Rosvall, fixed a problem I was having with my four top front teeth being loose due to bone loss. He found a very clever solution, bonding them together, and eliminated the need for me to get braces to move my lower. He seems wise and experienced and thoughtful. I really like this guy!

CASH PAYING / NO INSURANCE - PLENTY OF BETTER CHOICES ELSEWHERE!…read more We WERE patients of this practice the past couple of years and had good service for the times we went (2X/year). However, if you do not have insurance (unemployed, self-employed) you will significantly save by taking your business elsewhere. TMFD provides NO discount to cash paying customers. You will pay the FULL amount of the rate they "bill" insurance companies, even though TMFD collects only a portion from insurance companies due to the contracted rates for said services. Example: I was interested in just a cleaning. TMFD wanted to charge me $112 for the cleaning. I had a cleaning earlier this year (Jan '24) and the rate they billed insurance for just the cleaning was $97. What insurance actually paid them was $45! Yet now, TMFD wants to charge me $112. I called around and found more sympathetic dentists to my current situation who not only had a less expensive rate to begin with, but offered a discount to cash paying customers (because they know they're going to collect more from a cash paying customer they offer a 10-25% discount than they would billing insurance). Once we have insurance again, no problem. Just amazed that TMFD wasn't willing to work with us and would so easily loose two loyal customers! BTW, their in-house plan wasn't that great of an option, once you run the numbers.

But I couldn't have chosen a better office to go to. I love how great the staff is with my daughter. Their prices were reasonable to what we had been quoted at her prior orthodontist so that made me feel good. We've been a patient for a year now and she's getting her braces off in January. Dr. Maxfield really takes time to explain what he's doing to the patients and the parents. The office is also very clean, and I watch them clean often while I'm at my daughter's appointment. My daughter received an Aloha shirt, water bottle wax and flossers at her first appointment welcoming her to the office. Dr. Maxfield himself even called us after her first appointment just to check in on her. They also offer Aloha bucks for a good visit, no broken brackets, and for wearing your Aloha Orthodontics shirt to your appointment. 5 bucks if you meet the criteria. Plus you can get more bucks if you get a good write off from your dentist at your cleaning appointments. You can turn these bucks in for gift cards to local establishments or for the infamous dole whip they serve. I think there's a candy reward at the end of your brace wearing days.
