Items broken that weren't fragile, towels stained, boxes sent to wrong location. They are far from top notch. I understand there are a lot of moving parts but several items were separated into 3 or more boxes with no information as where to locate them, towels had random yellow stains, rugged tools were damaged, delivery was a nightmare - no communication to unloaders that we are 3rd floor, unloaders were late by 3+hours, storage/home items mixed, Nondescript box labels. They weren't the lowest cost, but we went with F&G based on our previous experience (prior Owner) and the owner's sales pitch - sold as best-in-class. The best way to sum things up is F&G is sadly "normal", meaning they suffer from the same societal disease diagnosed as lacking above and beyond customer service. You have to manage them - they won't manage you. Their communication, after the sale, was lacking expectation. Once paid in full, F&G never communicated again. Never told us "who" the contracted carrier was or how to reach them with questions. Never tracked our delivery or called to inform us the delivery date was extended (again) 2 days - a total of 3 days late. They were hands off with no attempt to illustrate an "extra mile customer service effort". We now wish we'd gone with the other, lower cost, local mover who we also used previously. read more

I have some serious mixed feelings about this place. We had them come to our house to move some odd sized/heavy items. They changed the appointment a few times so at this point it aligned with the day I was packing a Uhaul to move out of my house. They parked the massive tractor trailer in my driveway leaving me no space for the Uhaul. After someone had already come out and checked out the items that needed to be moved, they sent only 2 guys. Long story short, it needed a 3rd person. We waited well over an hour for that 3rd person to show up. Did I mention that I'm also trying to move at the same time they are taking up the whole driveway? Time is money. Once they got the items on the truck, they were on their way. The guys doing the moving did a fine job. I negotiated for storage at their place. As others have noted, they really care mostly about the money. I had a handful of times been overcharged or charged for things that were not in our contract. They always gave me the credit back but who wants to sit there and monitor their account everyday because they cannot trust a local company? The storing of the object was fine. We did not have any damage and when we were ready to move all of them out, they were helpful. read more

Do Not, DO NOT use this company!!!!!. In my opinion, and experience ,the local agent is only in it for the money and has no care for the treatment of your items or you. Allied is also not the company you want to deal with. The insurance you purchase is not worth what will happen to your items. You will never recover from a move with them. They do not service anything on their moves. I used Allied on a move from MO to ME in April of this year [2017}. I purchased the extra insurance on my items for full replacement. As of today, nothing has been done and the Owner of Fox & Ginn told me that it was not his problem and I needed to contact Allied. Fox & Ginn took delivery of my Items from Kansas City and stored them for 2 months. I had to Pay for them to take the Delivery and for the Storage in advance, I was not informed, ever, of Items that were missing from the original delivery. I found out about it when my goods were delivered to my home. Also there was alot of damage to my Antiques, and I was not informed of the damage at the time of the original delivery, and I have already told you what the Owner said to me about it after his men brought it to my home. I also had to pay to have them deliver my goods to my home. And they wanted me to pay them $140@hr to reassemble my items that had been taken apart during the move. So far almost every Item has missing pieces. I do not know what will happen, since the Claims Rep has not had the common courtesy to contact me in any way since I submitted the claim in Sept. Many were complicated (including out of state elements as we now live outside of Maine now and my parents and family are long-term Maine residents). Fox & Ginn assisted us in times of grief (such as the passing of a family member and needing to move their items following) and in times of happiness (moving to new residences). Very rarely will I leave any review, good or bad, but my recent move with Fox & Ginn was out of the park. A 20 mile move was proving to be very stressful and when I called Fox & Ginn to bail me out the last thing I expected was a cheerful receptionist, great estimator and and an amazing crew that ultimately helped me finish packing boxes and move everything for me, even the things I could have handled myself in the backseat of my car. I used this company a few years back to move from Florida to Maine. I have moved many times with movers and this was a very bad experience on the Maine arrival end. The movers were rude. My husband overheard them saying"What did they move all this stuff for, It's all junk". They were in such a hurry they just threw all the stuff off the truck and left. They were not professional movers of any kind. They were such rough looking characters they made me very uncomfortable and possibly a security issue at a later date? Much of my things were damaged. I'm still finding damage to the furniture years later. Boxes were missing. Find another company. I certainly would never use them again. read more

I was moving a one bedroom apartment. The owner came and did the estimate. I received a written estimate of $850.00. On April 8th we made the move. I have no complaints about the men who did the move nor the condition of the furniture although I would like to have seen some padding used especially on wood furniture. Once the move was complete I was handed a bill for $1,163.00. I understand an estimate is just that and that there is always some adjustment necessary as I have moved my entire house. However, over $300 on and $850 estimate, slightly more than 1/3 of that estimate, is way beyond the norm for an adjustment. I have all the paperwork supporting what I am discussing. I called and left a message for the owner, He returned my call, I explained my issue, he told me he, "would have to go back and do his homework". I have not heard from him sense. Either he doesn't know how to estimate or we were low balled either way I would find a different company to move anything. read more

I'm afraid I have to agree with the previous reviewer. The F&G people including the estimator and moving crew were all very pleasant, and they met their estimated pricing and timing...but that's where the positives end. The crew did not give us an opportunity to inspect the last day of packing, and turns out they left two room sized rugs in bedrooms, a 47" framed artwork on the wall, and many drawers unpacked in the office. Completely inexplicable...and had it been an long distance move it could have been a real problem to retrieve our property. So far, so bad. But then we found that hardware needed to reassemble a work desk was missing. This is not 'off the shelf' hardware I could get from a local store. An urgent email was sent asking that the crew be queried. The email was acknowledged, but almost a week later no information has been provided. Summary: Nice people, poor supervision and follow up. Thank goodness it was a local move and we could do the work they did not. read more
