We LOVE Fox Den. The store is fun, colorful, welcoming, and the people who work there are even better. Every time we've gone in we've got great new book and game recommendations for my kids. What a find! River Falls is so lucky, this store is a total gem. The gift selection is amazing, it's my new go-to for teacher, nurses, and other similar appreciation gifts. Also the toy gift selection is on point, there's always something special for the kiddos I am shopping for. Local jewelry, candles, quirky and whimsy, I love every inch of this shop, it emotes love and kindness with creative window displays and wildly fun activities for the community like storytime, letter writing to Santa (at-hem, Santa writes back if you mail your letters here!), and the inspired Buckthorn Academy magic school (their take on a Harry Potter type magic and mystery school). Game nights, book clubs, and probably so much more.. Used book selection is excellent, there's always something for my basket, and I enjoy the brand new books they have too. read more

My favorite small business in town! I am so thankful River Falls has a local used bookstore, that buys and sells books. It's becoming quite the toy store which is great for the children's community in town. I have sold books to Fox Den before, and I feel like I get a decent store credit. read more

This is the cutest, most charming little store! Every time I walk by it, I wish that there had been a store like this near where I grew up. Anyway, a few weeks ago, we took our almost 3-year-old son into the store, as he had been admiring several of the Green Toys in the window days earlier. We brought him into the store with his Ziploc bag of dollars (which he had received in various birthday/Christmas cards) and let him pick out the toy he wanted. He picked the cutest little school bus! Fast forward 3 days, and the wheel broke off. I emailed Green Toys and after not having heard from them after several days, I asked my husband to bring the school bus back to the store so we could exchange it. Much to both of our surprise, we learned that Fox Den 'doesn't have an agreement' with Green Toys, so unless the $31 toy school bus is unused/unopened, there was nothing that the sales associate could do. She asked my husband for his contact information to pass on to the store owner, but we never heard from them. Thankfully, Green Toys eventually responded and offered to replace the bus, but this experience was disappointing and hcaused us to reconsider buying similar items from a local small business in the future. Not sure what the return/exchange policy is on other items in the store and it isn't on their website (from what I could see). All in all, super cute/fun store... Though, potential customers would be wise to inquire about store policies prior to purchasing anything. read more

Update: I've sold my books here (and tried other stores as well). Fox Den gives you a decent deal, and even if it is not a lot of cash or in-store credit, it is something and you're supporting a local business! It's disappointing that I can't always trade in my YA fiction for non-fiction but that's simply because there's not enough sales of YA there for them to be able to re-stock. This is the best option for shopping local for books in the area. They have such a variety of inventory which is very nice, but also, kind of overwhelming at times. I'm so thankful they have wishlists, and I look forward to selling my books to them! The Harry Potter lover will adore the store. read more

The cutest little nook in downtown River Falls. I love going to Fox Den books. They always have awesome themes, decorations, books, toys, and knick knacks. I love to go in and browse or buy gifts. They sell used book at a fairly affordable price and have neat events. I have bought several childrens books and toys for my daughter as well as puzzles for my sister. Recently they had a Harry Potter themed event and the whole shop was decked out in harry potter themed decorations and products. Palm reading books, crystals, and anything else a young witch or wizard might need. Seriously, if you havent been here make a point to stop in. You won't be disappointed! read more

Fox Den Books is a welcoming, fun place that has such a variety of things to purchase, even if you aren't looking for books. The staff are always helpful and friendly. It's always such a joy for me to go there and I will often go there just to lift my spirits. The activities they provide for the community are fun and imaginative. It's one of my favorite places. Fox Den is truly a gem within the River Falls community. I love that they sell new and used books. The staff is incredibly helpful. I have frequently sought assistance in finding exactly the right book or gift and the staff nails it every time! My kids feel like it's walking into a magical wonderland- they especially love to update their wish lists. I came across this store last week and almost didn't go in, but I'm so glad that I did! Not only are there fun used books, but the kids toys are really cool (and probably educational too ). There are also old dictionary pages printed and/or stenciled with images from Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Disney, etc. I was determined not to spend any money that day, but faltered after seeing the one with Snape. Already happy with this bookstore! My 11 year old twins had plans to take a friend each for a road trip to RF for year one Harry Potter magic school. Unfortunately it was sold out! Bummer! I had no idea it would be a sell out type event! But, the owner was so gracious and gave us tips for things to do in RF and we got tickets for the next magic school weekend. I might have hung-up very disappointed for my kids, but instead I will happily bring them all twice and likely spend even more money there! Now that is good customer service! read more

This bookstore is definitely worth a stop if you are coming to downtown River Falls. Once you enter the store, you will see that the owners take great pride in attractively displaying their large selection of merchandise. Besides the great choice of books from every genre, there are many other items for sale that will appeal to children. I enjoy bringing in my used books to sell. I choose to take the 'store credit' rather than the cash because I am always able to find other books in this store that I want to read. I also like it that they have two stores (another in St. Paul) which gives me a greater inventory to choose from. If they don't have a particular book I am looking for, they will check with their other store. And if they still don't have the book, they will contact me if a copy should come in. The owners will only buy books in good condition so that is a selling point for me. So, if I have the ability to be patient with them and wait, they will do all they can to meet my current reading needs. I believe in supporting independent bookstores and the Fox Den is one of the best I have found. Give them a try yourself! read more
