Hubby and I came here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We got lucky and were able to get a table right in the window (which was open for the beautiful breeze). Such a perfect table! ((Full disclosure it does get sweltering hot as it's right in the sun around 2/3pm)). The service was perfect and the food/drinks were delicious. I had the hotdog (low-key delicious), and hubby had the Signature Burger (devoured the entire thing!). We also shared baskets of regular fries and Chipotle Cheese Fries. Stopped in for a quick beer&snack as this is next to my kids house. There's nothing like the dark pastures stout if you like dark beer like I do. So delicious, like an espresso but way better Also kudos to the kitchen, we got an order of garlic parm fries, and my husband & I practically picked the bottom of the bowl. We arrived near 4PM on a Wednesday afternoon. The bartender actually met us at the door after we utilized the parking along the street. I ordered a flight that included a Hef (slightly more bitter than expected), a Rye IPA (exquisitely balanced), a Munich Dunkle (nicely toasted in aroma and flavor), and the Imperial Stout (big chocolate and roasted but body thinned as the beer warmed). The stellar service continued when we ordered food. My wife had the stuffed grape leaves which were surprisingly tasty and I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich which was delectable. We were packing up after a long ride and asked some folks in the next car over where to get a good burger. Without hesitation they said "Fox and the Hare". Alrighty then! The little downtown area is busy but we found parking easily. Walking into the Fox and Hare we were pleasantly greeted and told to sit wherever we liked. Like a number of other shops on the strip it's a converted older building with lots of charm. We ordered beers, (my IPA was solid right down the middle) and one of the fancy garlic parm fry selections to share. Typically I don't mess around with adulterated fries but it looked good. We both ordered the signature burger. Fries came first and were good. They didn't overdo it on sauce so they had plenty of flavor but still crisp and crunchy. Burger was great, loose patty using the cheese for structure. Unlike a lot of places who make a really thick patty resulting in a tall burger, they made a larger diameter patty so you get plenty of flavor per bite. I sometimes get bored with a burger 3/4 into it but this was good all the way, juicy and flavorful. Cold craft beers, tasty burgers and a neat location are hard to beat. I hesitated between 4 or 5 stars as it's kinda simple food but went with 5 for fulfilling its mission well. read more

I have been coming to Fox N Hare for several years., Never disappoints. The Craft Beer goes without saying. Today, the Strawberry Cider was interesting and my wife loved it. OK we both are very partial to the Buffalo Brussels sprout dish and get them every time. What is special is the atmosphere here. Wait Staff is always nice. However the owners / brewers are always walking around and helping out. It is not unusual for them to stop by the table and talk. Its make it more than just a local brewery but where the owners want you to feel like you are not just a customer, you are a part of the neighborhood crowd who share what they are personally proud to serve with you. read more

This place felt underwhelming... Hipstery-Instagramable, sure. But the food was awful and the beer was meh. The Brussels had Buffalo sauce and were super greasy, and I paid $7 of a hot dog which I'm sure was some grocery store Nathan's If you're a parent they don't have high chairs just one booster seat. This is a hearty brew pub right downtown in Port Jervis. Easy walking distance to the nearby Erie Hotel. We gathered there with friends and put ourselves in the hands of salty/friendly barkeep. He curated their collection expertly, and we tried a variety of terrific beverages. We had some great nibbles to go with our sips, too. It seemed like there was almost as much merch as there was food & drink. If you're passing through, looking for something to take home, this is a good spot. Aaaaand the food is overpriced and not particularly impressive. We came here for Father's Day and everybody got a hamburger. Which costs $15. In Port Jervis. Which is the same price for a respectable burger in Austin. Also, fries are not included. The burgers were unpleasantly greasy and the bun was a bit too stale, but otherwise they were fine. We enjoyed the order of large fries (it did have a few in there that were not cooked all the way through). 3 stars, but not an angry three--just your average Poconos 3. It is absolutely possible to spend a pleasant afternoon here. read more

The service was lovely and it was rather quick. We were able to see ourselves, but a server came very frequently to check on us and see if we need anything. They had a wide selection of alcoholic beverages on tap as well as soft beverages. Their garlic fries were delicious and I really appreciated how everything on the menu was labeled as gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan. They used primarily gluten-free batter, which was very helpful for me with dietary restrictions. The location was cute. We went on a rainy day so the garage side was down, but I imagine in the summertime. It is lovely. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Wow- my husband and I found this gem today on our way home from a trip. The staff is awesome! I got the lightest beer- I forget the name and my husband got an IPA and a stout. We both enjoyed our beers. We shared some garlic parm fries- delicious!!! I got the ahi tuna salad which was very good and my husband got their signature spicy burger which he really liked. The staff was one of the friendliest I've encountered. They were this way with every guest who walked in. They all serve all the tables, which is really nice because we never had to wait long if we needed anything. I can't wait to go back next time we're in the area! Love this little brewery! We enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere, sitting in the open air storefront. Everyone who took care of us was extremely helpful, friendly, and warm! My boyfriend is THE craft beer junkie, so he insisted that we go here during our getaway to the mountains. While I have my own beer preferences (i.e. anything not an IPA), I figured I'd come--at the very least--for the food. We parked outside the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised to see how hip the place was, with great decor and ambiance that could fit easily in Hoboken or Brooklyn. We were seated by an unbelievably warm and friendly waitress, who took our drink and food orders. We went to split the biscuits, the pretzels and a mountain salad, with my boyfriend ordering their Caught in Darkness dark ale after much deliberation (our waitress gave him some insight on flavor profiles, SRMs, IBUs, and other beer-related metrics). The service was standard since it was the lunch hour and we saw several groups of families and friends celebrating with cocktails, beer, and tasty-looking food. Finally, we got our wares. My boyfriend LOVED the beer; I myself had a taste, and could best describe it as "if Guinness was an IPA." I don't love hops, but he really enjoyed his beer and I could see the appeal if that's more your style. The biscuits were made with grains leftover from the brewing process, so if you're expecting the golden circles from Popeyes or KFC, look somewhere else. These were whole grain biscuits, but they were fluffy, warm, and paired as well with creamy honey butter as it did with sweet/tart strawberry preserves. The pretzels came out on the lighter side, so I was a bit nervous, but they were cooked through with a good amount of salt. The two mustards (a traditional spicy brown and a sweet honey) were both strong enhancers--I actually thought the sweet mustard was really beer cheese; that's how creamy it was. Lastly we had the salad. They emphasized blueberries on the menu and they did not disappoint; the salad was sweet with a good dressing, even if the other elements of the salad seemed a little lost in the shuffle. In any event, this place is a must-try in the tri-state area, especially if you love beer and want a little taste of city-esque eats. read more

I walked in and was immediately hit with delicious smells. I could smell all the yummy things cooking and the beer. It was delightful. We got a crowler plus some food for takeout (all of which I forgot to photograph). It was all really good. Be careful the ghost pepper cucumbers have a little spice!
