Parking was $15 on-site & fair entrance was free for me with my FL medical professional license ID card since I went on a promo day for it. The best part of the Fl State Fair was the petting zoo of baby goats, donkeys, llama alpacas which was free to enter & pet at your own risk of poop & pee from the animals. Some of the alpacas were very agreeable to selfies lol so funny they knew the assignment well. 5 stars for the animals & zero stars everything else. All the food was terrible. I definitely wouldn't go back again. Even if the entrance fee or parking was free... not worth it. My friends that were born & raised in the Tampa Bay Area told me not to go that it's not worth it... should a listened to them lol. None of my Florida friends wanted to go that have lived in Tampa their whole life. I went for the experience. I didn't go on any rides, my germ radar was on too high alert lol.

We have been coming here for the past few years for U-pick blueberries and love the farm. At $3 per…read morelb for berries, we really go nuts out there. Trust wherever they guide you for the biggest berries- we took their advice and went way out in the back and found seriously the most gigantic blueberries I've ever seen in my life. They were as big if not bigger than cherry tomatoes! You won't find those at your local grocer! Each row of berries is labeled with a color ribbon because they don't just have one type of berry- some are sweeter, some are more tart. The owner said that it's nice to pick some from each row, especially if you're planning on making a pie because you'll have a mix of all the great flavors. I'm sad that they're already closed for the season, but we will be back next season!

What a fantastic experience! I've been wanting to visit this blueberry farm for a couple of years…read morenow. They were open this past Friday at 7:30 am. It was perfect timing for this early riser. Do check their posted seasonal u-pick schedule on their website or FB before making a special trip. Blueberry season typically starts in April and runs into May. The dates are posted weekly. It was easy to find and very close to Valrico. Especially if you're coming from Lithia Pinecrest Rd. There's a pathway that leads you to the parking lot once you get to Neal Rd. It's a short walk to the covered barn where you will receive your bucket. Just tie it tight around your waist so that it doesn't fall under the weight of the blueberries. The bucket holds up to 6 lbs. It's such a well organized process. The farm is huge. There were at least 10 families there, and I rarely saw them. There were so many beautifully ripe blueberries ready to be picked. The Jewel clusters of berries seem to fall right off when you touch them. Be sure to cup your hands underneath it. The Emerald variety is larger and tend to stay clustered together. I picked a mixture of both varieties. Before I knew it, the bucket was halfway filled. It was such a fun experience! So much so, that I'm hoping to do it again before the end of the season. It's such a happy place! The ladies who run it are so friendly & kind. They're even selling local honey from Sam's Honey Bees. Everything is so delicious! I also appreciated the shoe scraping & hand washing stations. Again, everything is so organized. It's a must if you're looking for great blueberries and/or a great family experience. Just do it. You'll be rewarded with fresh berries, and a peaceful retreat from urban life.

I was just starting the process of figuring where to go to pick blueberries, and I saw Karen V's…read morerave Yelp review, and my mind was made up. I went to their website and signed up for their newsletter, which was helpful because they sent out notice saying they would be open the upcoming weekend with hours of operation. I went early on Saturday morning, arriving about 9 am, and they were already busy. Fortunately, they have a huge field of blueberry plants: both Jewel and Emerald. They are also super organized which I love: someone directed me where to park and then I went to main building next to the field where I was handed a bucket with strings on it to tie around my waist in order to leave both hands free for picking. I picked a few pounds in no time, and checkout was fast and easy. They had short sleeve and long sleeve shirts for sale, but they were out of their baseball caps. So, even though this was a bit of a haul from Tampa, it was definitely worth the drive.

Cornfusion. That's why we recently went to the Smith Ranch. I know they have other services…read more(weddings, etc), but my experience is based on Cornfusion, just so you know. We went as a part of a large group for a homeschool field trip. It's a farm so expect long bumpy dirt roads and be aware of where you put your feet. Again, it's a working farm. This really cute guy will greet you right away; he's got golden hair and the sweetest smile! His legs are often covered in mud, depicting what fun he has on the farm, but he probably won't jump on you. And his floppy ears and droopy cheeks just make me want to squeeze him. Do keep an eye out for him when parking your car. If you do the hayride, you'll see him again working as a ranch hand, corralling the cattle alongside the tractor, forever wagging that tail of his. As far as activities go, there are quite a few for some fall fun... as "fall" as Florida gets. There's a kiddie area with a fire truck to play on, swings, eats, pony rides (I think; it wasn't operational when we went), tractor train ride, and more. Elsewhere, there's a pumpkin patch, Duck Race (rubber ducks), photo ops, a giant bounce pillow (it's like a bounce house except it's a big ol' pillow), giant tubes like hamster balls to roll in, cornhole and our kid's favorite, the corn box! It's like a bi sand box except instead of sand, it's filled with dried corn. Who knew that could be so much fun?! The hayride takes you out through the farm in a trailer that happens to be partially covered; that was nice for us since it rained a bit. They provide food for feeding the cows, too. If you go at night, they have Zombie Paintball; you ride the hayride and shoot zombies. Sounds fun! Don't forget the corn maze! It's was a nice, quick trip through but I think we didn't go very deep. I'm sure there's more to it than what we did. We enjoyed ourselves and our kid was wiped out! The Smith family are awesome people so if you happen to have any questions or issues, let them know. Things to know: restrooms are PortOPotties and they do have handicap accessible ones. The food station DOES take cash or card. You'll be picking corn out of your clothes all day if you use the corn box, but it's worth it. It's pretty "stroller friendly" but it is still over grass. Just have fun! And give that cute guy some ear scratches when he says "hello!"

Out in practically the middle of no where you'll find the Smith Family Ranch. I've heard in the…read morefall, they host corn mazes, zombie paintball hayrides and concerts hosted in the barn. On this occasion we were here to celebrate a wedding. When you arrive you'll drive down a long dirt driveway, there isn't any gravel area so prepare to park on the lawn. The wedding ceremony was being held in a field and the reception was in the barn. It was a perfect country style wedding if that's you're thing. You know what's not my thing? Cow patties everywhere! From right outside my car door to the actual wedding aisle! I was surprised that even though the ceremony was held in a small field, the aisle wasn't even cleaned up for the bride. Walking up to the ceremony space we walked through a gate except they were doing construction on the ground; so there were large exposed pipes sitting in the ground covering a deep hole. In order to walk across, they put a small piece of plywood all the way over to one side and a traffic cone. It was definitely a safety hazard with so many kids running around and at night it was the only area with a light. Thankfully I had my phone flashlight to keep an eye on the ground as we walked back to the car. The barn was beautifully decorated with lots of twinkle lights and a stage for the bride and groom to sit. There were bathrooms in the barn as well but one was out of paper towels the entire time. Another room in the barn was reserved for the groomsmen to get ready. What I really liked was they lifted garage style doors on the side that had hid the kitchen. Once the doors were lifted you could get in line to be served by the caterers. It was definitely a unique place for a wedding but there were a few cosmetic things I would have changed and there's no good way to hide from wind or rain.

It's blueberry season in Florida and we arrived at nearby Keel Farms first thing in the morning on…read morea Wednesday with the impression that they would have u-pick blueberries. They informed us that they usually only open u-pick on weekends and gave us a list of nearby farms to check out. Out of the 4 on the list, Blue's Berry Farms was the only one open. There was a torrential downpour in the forecast for that afternoon, but the lady on the phone said that she would stay open for as long as it was not raining and safe. We were only 15 minutes away and headed over. Blue's Berry Farms is located off the beaten path. Two men were coming out as we were coming in and maybe one other person in the field. Not crowded at all. She had buckets lined with plastic bags and a makeshift lanyard that you can borrow for picking. The price was about $25 for the bucket which she said was about 6 pounds. We started off on the rows right by the entrance but they were kind of sour, but we went deeper in the field and that's where they got sweet! We picked the bucket in no time between my family of four and my in-laws. We made it out just in time with a bucket of freshly picked blueberries, make the drive home and even some time to settle in before the storm unleashed. The blueberries were so fresh and delicious by themselves and I even made some blueberry muffins for the fam which were equally delicious.
