But after going on the tour of 90 minutes I was able to understand all that the sanctuary does for these animals. Most of these animals come from other people who have kept them as pets or who have not kept good care of them, so this is a safe place for them. I was so honored to get to see so many animals being cared for with respect, and get to meet the people who volunteer their time to give comfort to these animals. The best part is that all the proceeds go directly to the animals' care and welfare. It's not like other places where a percentage will go to the employees. At this sanctuary the proceeds go straight back to the animals. If you're an animal lover like me I would recommend going!

Before the safari even started, Elena showed us around and introduced us to so many amazing animals. We saw two different species of otters, monkeys, lemurs, a tortoise, tiny deer, guinea pigs, pigs/boars, and even some very intimidating velociraptor-looking creatures (still not sure what those were, but wow). There were only three other people on our tour, so it truly felt like a private experience. Elena is an incredible storyteller. She is knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely kind. My daughter and I learned so much about the animals and the farm, and we were completely engaged the entire time. During the safari, we fed four different giraffes and saw deer, zebras, a cheetah, tapirs, warthogs, and a pygmy hippo. One of the giraffes, Kya, came back to us again so we could feed him more and he even let us scratch him, which was amazing. Then we got to feed the lemurs. There were about 30 of them who gently climbed all around us while we fed them grapes. They were so sweet and careful. Then Lex took us to feed the monkeys. We fed so many different kinds, and Lex was just as kind, knowledgeable, and engaging as Elena. He shared his background and how he started the ranch. They even have an adorable little gift shop to wrap up the visit. Elena and Lex truly could not have been more hospitable. We highly, highly recommend visiting.

My friend took me on the best birthday adventure at Bambi's Mini Petting Farm. It was a surprise…read moreand when we pulled up I saw goats, sheep, donkeys and highland cows. I can't think of anything that is more fun than spending an hour with two different capybara babies. Mango and Kiwi. On the way in we petted the camels. They came right up to the fence and stuck their large heads out. They were seeking attention because they very used to being petted. We were startled when one made a loud guttural braying sound. The owner explained they were letting us know they want carrots. We had about 20-25 minutes with each capybara so all together the encounter was an hour. We got a plate of raw sweet potato sticks and romaine lettuce leaves to feed each animal. They were about 4 months old and Mango the male will be about 140 pounds full grown and Kiwi was the runt of a different litter and is expected to be approximately 90 pounds when full grown which is a very small capybara. It was just my friend and me so we spent time petting and feeding them. They love water so their coat was smooth but fur like a beaver. They are in the same family as guinea pigs so they make a similar sound. They have leathery pads on the bottom of their back legs because they can kick like a kangaroo. They like being scratched under their chin and relax so much they fall over and then are disoriented about what just happened. Hilarious. Bambi's Mini Petting Farm has several different types of animal encounters including baby doll sheep and two miniature cows. They had three goats which were having kids the following weekend and you can either tour the farm or select to bottle feed the baby goats. They have plans for a holiday tour and are getting a sloth. It all started when we checked in and got our first cup of feed for the day. A short stroll over to their petting zoo led us straight to the donkeys, goats, and some of their youngest Highlands. We strolled around their petting zoo while we wait for our tour to start. After a proper introduction to all of the animals in the petting zoo, we loaded onto a tractor driven by an infant and a farm dog and were taken farther onto the property and there they were! There were at least a dozen Highlands ready for eating! We were given buckets with pellets and the feeding began! Feeding the cows was absolutely hilarious. Loved to see all their wildly different personalities. Some a gentle as a butterfly, some charging at you like a bull after a red flag! We loaded back up on the tractor (yes, the baby was still driving) and headed back to the front where, thankfully, there was a handwashing station. What a fun and funny experience on this close knit family farm!

We paid cash on the spot to pose while holding a baby alligator, which turned out to be our favorite souvenir photo of the whole vacation! Since almost the entire park is outdoors along open boardwalks and natural trails, carrying a raincoat or umbrella was an absolute lifesaver when a typical Florida rain shower rolled through. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, and the staff was 10/10--friendly and helpful throughout our visit. A great bonus is that Florida residents get 50% off admission, making it an even better value for a family outing. Between the amazing military perk, hands-on animal encounters, and welcoming atmosphere, we loved every minute. We highly recommend giving yourself a full day to soak it all in! Children at that age can easily become distracted by the excitement around them, and the situation should have been handled with patience, kindness, and professionalism. My daughter attempted to get help and guidance from several park officials, but unfortunately, it felt like our concerns were dismissed. We were told they would "talk to her" about the situation, but that did not address the fact that our family experience had already been negatively impacted. This was supposed to be a happy memory for our family, but instead, it became an upsetting experience. After reading other reviews, it appears that concerns about unprofessional behavior have been raised before. Families come to places like this expecting a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment. Management needs to take these concerns seriously and address the behavior of their staff. Until improvements are made, families may want to reconsider supporting this attraction.
