So I was at fox valley coins yesterday. I had brought some coins for them to look at. Everyone was very helpful except for the tall skinny guy. He started to seem frustrated when I was asking questions about my coins and gave me answers like I should know but I don't. And then eventually he said he would have to charge me 10$ a scan. And I thought that was very unreasonable of him because I also bought some silver and some coin sleeves. They have some very cool stuff to buy but if you're getting your things looked at make sure to get someone else other than that guy. I went in looking for Walking Liberty Half Dollars and the selection was beyond incredible. I got a few 1946 and 1947's both of those dates are tough to find and I finally got them. I got an upgrade for my Silver Kennedy Half Dollar collection and I got some beautiful 1899 and 1900 Barber Dimes. The kids behind the desk provided excellent customer service. I've been slowly collecting various coins and metals basically forever, but I'm not a big spender by any means. I'm the kind of dude who comes in, picks through the generic silver box, and picks up a couple bars with interesting mint marks I might not already have. A problem I've had with other coin shops in the area is that unless you're looking to spend a ton of cash they aren't that interested in your business, and understandably so- If I come in and buy three generic bars, they made something like $3 off me, I get it. Fox Valley Coins has never given me the vibe that I'm annoying them with small purchases, quite the opposite in fact. The guys who work here are super pleasant and have no problem shooting the breeze with you while you root through their inventory. This has led me to stop buying things online entirely and only buy through them. I've sold coins here several times over the past couple months. Before this I had never sold coins so I was weary I was going to get low balled. I work at the Verizon Wireless down the street and stopped by on my lunch. I got a quote earlier for $24 from another place. I went to fox valley and they quoted me 21.50 because silver dipped a bit.
