After 10+ years of acceptable service Fox Valley has become the company to avoid. It's been about 10 months since several extinguishers were taken for recharging and Fox Valley left loaners that were pulled out of a dumpster and left for loaners. The response to every call to return extinguishers the building owned and purchased is that the matter will be escalated and you'll receive a return call which never happens. They over charge for their services. I needed to use them for a job because building management insisted. They were on site for 30 minutes and billed me for 3 hours and 45 minutes. The quoted price was $240, but they ended up billing me $610. Don't use these guys if you have an alternative. I called to get the bill adjusted but they insisted that was their actual time. Where to start...first off, my biggest mistake was I didn't read the reviews. I know now why they have such low ratings. The rep who I had for ansul system was great, great at taking the money and never responding to calls/emails for scheduling or any sort issues or follow ups once I sign the contract and paid my deposit. They have a "sister" company that connects the ansul system to the alarms. But they all operate in the same office. The so called sister company is no better, they don't communicate and takes forever to respond. They have multiple people that handles scheduling, not that it helps since you can never get hold of them. They are very frustrating to work with. I would be fine if they could just communicate like professionals without you having to call their direct line that goes to VM, sending emails to inquire about status and calling their office to talk to someone who knows nothing and has to call you back after they track down the tech or whatever and never do. The only good thing about this place is the one person-Nancy who takes after hour calls that was actually helpful and sympathetic. Everyone else couldn't care less, they are incompetent and unprofessional. Save yourself from all the frustration and time you will waste dealing with this company. read more

We have taken our fire extinguishers to Fox Valley Fire & Safety for annual servicing and certification for some years now. Until today, the service has been unremarkable. Unfortunately, that has changed for us. This year, we took our one year old fire extinguishers over for service and dropped them off. It normally takes a day or two and they call letting us know our extinguishers are ready. In the back of my mind, I knew something was up when we didn't hear from them for 10 days, so I called them up. "Nope. Still not done." A couple days later, I get the call that our extinguishers were finished. We went over to pick them up and were shocked when they brought our extinguishers out. One of the extinguishers was rusty, dented and all beat up. It was also twice the size from what we had given them. Suffice to say, it was definitely not our extinguisher. They looked all around and could not find our extinguisher. Apparently it was lost, stolen, or given away to another customer. What happened next is most shocking -- They really didn't want to do anything about it. They told me, "Well, that happens sometimes..." Oh really? What really chaps my hide though is that they had the audacity to charge my account for refilling and re-certifying the large fire extinguisher that wasn't even mine! Additionally, the certification tags were not completed correctly. They are required to punch the date of service and type of service on the tag so that when the Fire Dept. comes by for inspection, they know when last servicing was completed. There were no markings at all on the tags. For all I know, the extinguishers were not even properly inspected and the work was just pencil-whipped. A day goes by and I tried, without success, to make contact with someone in management. Then they tried to pawn off some other used and rusty fire extinguisher of approximately the same size as the original fire extinguisher of mine that they lost. Unfortunately, it came nowhere near adapting to any of the brackets already installed in my building. What am I to do? Leave the fire extinguisher sit on the floor from now on? Again, no corrective action on their part. All I wanted to hear was, "I'm sorry sir. We seem to have lost your fire extinguisher. Here is a new replacement." Instead, all they did was try to pawn off junk they had laying around their shop on me. The last thing I want is to have a fire in my office building and then have to rely on some old, questionable fire extinguisher in a time of emergency. For that very reason, I replace my fire extinguishers with brand new every couple years because I want my equipment to inspire confidence in that it will be ready to go to work in an emergency. In the end, someone claiming to be the owner got involved and still did not want to make it right. Only upon our insistence that we would have to file a Police Report for theft with the Elgin Police Dept. did he want to "make a deal." The terms of his "deal" was that he would give us a brand new fire extinguisher with orders to "don't come back no more!" He did provide what appears to be a new fire extinguisher, which he should have done to begin with. All we wanted was to have back the fire extinguishers we entrusted to his care and control. Of course, the new one he provided was without an inspection tag, so we are back to square one again with fire extinguishers needing inspection. The credit card charges have been disputed, naturally, and he can sleep soundly knowing that we will *NEVER* bring any further business to Fox Valley Fire & Safety. In fact, I have now scheduled to get all of the fire equipment re-inspected from a reputable company that will inspect the fire extinguishers on-site and for the same fee we were paying Fox Valley to chase fire extinguishers across town multiple times. Fox Valley Fire & Safety's practices have inspired zero confidence in their ability to properly inspect our safety equipment and I will gladly pay again to have their work re-checked by a reputable inspection service. To the owner of Fox Valley Fire & Safety: Sir, I can assure you, I will *NEVER* take any of our business to Fox Valley Fire & Safety ever again. Further, everyone I know will be made aware of your abhorrent business practices, non-existent customer service, poor business ethics and horrible quality control. The facts are simple: Your people screwed up and all we wanted was for you to make it right and you were unable to do so in a professional and civilized manner. You have no idea how glad I am that Fox Valley Fire & Safety was not the winning bidder on our recent fire and security alarm installations. I had no idea your customer service practices were so outrageously poor. read more

Scammers! They have shown up at our business multiple times with work orders that are not authorized. They will prey on one of our employees who is not aware of our normal service provider and gives them access to our fire extinguisher. They don't even check anything! They slap a tag on the extinguisher and leave you with a bill. Our REAL inspection company actually removes the hose etc. After speaking with the company it seems our company may have used them legitimately once several years ago, but they randomly show up since with bogus work orders. When we refused to pay because the work was not authorized and they had no proof that it was, they sent our bill to collections. Talking to them is infuriating because they insist that since they have a name on the order it's authorized. Get this: it was my name! They got it from calling in the past and put it on the work orders! When I explained that I did not authorize it their reasoning is simply: "but it has your name on it." WHAT? Seriously avoid these people at all costs. read more

I have used this company for several years for our annual fire extinguisher inspection. I scheduled the yearly inspection recently. Upon receiving my invoice for their services there was an additional charge for $361 for an unauthorized test. I called there billing department to inquire about the additional charge and was told that it was for a text that was required eery six years. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this costly test I was told that it was required every six years. No other explination, no apology. I informed the billing department that I will never use Fox Valley Fire and Safety again. read more

We have had them for the last 9 years. I cannot say that everything has been smooth all the time but one of their owners Bruce has been very helpful to getting involved and taking charge of things. He has wowed me each time I was frustrated and was upset with their performance. Even this year, the same happened. We have used Fox Valley Fire & Safety for a few years. After the latest incident, we will NEVER use them again. To make a long story short, Fox Valley came out 2 months ago and installed a new sprinkler head in the front of our building. To do this job they have to disable and shut off the water to the sprinkler system. Fast forward 2 months (today) we have a new company out to do our inspections (because for the past few years that we had Fox Valley out to inspect, they didn't care to mention that we needed to replace our hydraulic placard) and the inspector informs me that we have not had a functioning sprinkler system for the PAST 2 MONTHS. We are a woodworking shop. Thank God there was not a fire. So aside from the HUGE liability issue we have here, the office staff/people answering the phones have the WORST attitudes. They are pushy, rude, and misleading. Do not risk the safety of your employees, or your business with this company! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

I would like to say that working with Tom H. and Nasario on the new Fire Alarm installation at our condominium building was nothing but a great experience. These guys are really an "A-Team." I truly thought the installation would take longer than estimated. Both Tom H. and Nasario arrived on time every day and worked really hard. Additionally, they took time during the install to point out issues and educate me as to what would need to be done in the future. I did see these guys every day on the job and they really did provide a great installation in a fast time frame. Also, great communication throughout the job with Kevin, my sales representative. I couldn't have asked for a smoother Fire Alarm Installation. If I ever have to do another Fire Alarm Installation, this is the team I want. read more
