My husband and I fell in love on our first visit. This place has such a unique style and the owner/staff are great. The food was delicious, fresh, no shortage of flavor. What we loved most were the multiple themes that each booth is given on top of the "grandparents house meets southern log cabin meets Deep South food" vibe that you get, not to mention the fact that they have an extensive menu to the point where it took me an hour to decide what I wanted to eat. 2 adults & 1 child went for dinner on Sunday. Restaurant was about 1/4 full of customers. We were seated and given menus & water. Waited & waited for waitress to take our order. Then we waited at least 30 minutes to get a kids meal, nacho supreme & grilled chicken dinner. No reason to wait this long when there was hardly any customers. Menu is too large. Food is overpriced. Food was awesome! I had the pork belly sandwich. it was delicious. My dad had the quarter chicken quarter ribs meal it was also incredibly good. We were seated right away and got to pick our choice of boots. We sat in the ice shanty.We waited a short while for the food to arrive, but Looking at the unique decorations made it really fun. He was very friendly, professional & I appreciated him asking me if we wanted him to bring out our order or if I was fine coming inside to get it. It was nice he offered, especially since restaurants have only been open for inside dining for two days. He also thanked me for choosing them to order our meal from & I got thanked again when I went inside to get my order. Also, all the employees were wearing masks, which I appreciated. I had the Pulled Pork Sammy, which was super yummy. I liked that the server asked me if I wanted my sandwich "deconstructed" since it was a to-go order, so that way the bun didn't get soggy. What a great idea! Wish other BBQ joints I've had take-out from had that same concept, because it works! I chose the sweet BBQ sauce, which they gave me two containers & that was plenty......not to mention all the pulled pork that was in the container, WOW! I put half on the bun & still have enough for a second sandwich. Hubby got the Plain Jane Burger, which he said was great. He ordered it cooked medium, which it was cooked perfectly. He just got the house potato chips, which were really yummy. We split an add-on of their onion rings, de-lish. This place came highly recommended and I was extremely excited to give them a try but unfortunately left disappointed. The service struggled to keep up with an approximately 75% full restaurant...I understand that times are tough trying to find good consistent help these days and I give them a pass for that however a bit more attention could have been paid to at least assure us our food was coming albeit slowly. The appetizers weren't bad but also nothing to write home about. When the main course finally arrived about an hour after ordering the vegetables were undercooked and the meat portion of the dish was severely lacking. I am jot one to complain and judging by the performance that night from the staff I surely withheld my dismay...they were certainly struggling. My wife and kids had similar complaints. Willing to try again I just hope management can iron out the issues. I can tell a lot of work went into planning and executing this place so I hope they get it together. Will be back. read more

So I've come here twice and both times wasn't left disappointed. The first time I had the nachos and one of the speciality drinks. The nachos were ehhh but the drink came in a mason jar with a cute little straw and a piece of fruit. The drink was really unique and had both cider and whiskey in it. The second time I came I was fully prepared to get a salad BUT BEING CELIAC I noticed they had a gluten free bun as an option. This was such a game changer. I got the beef brisket sandwich with a GF bun and it was to die for. Dont let the rough appearance and authentic country feel fool you. This place was country chic and so yummy!!! We had been there several times in the past and went again for the Thanksgiving dinner It was amazing. Nothing from a box, can, or frozen. All homemade, including the pie. Way too many good choices in the area than to risk this place. I had high hopes at first. Typical bbq joint decor with lots of stuff glued to the ceilings and walls to look at. This was a good thing because the wait was way longer than it should have been. The place wasnt busy and every step from having our order taken, to getting our food, to getting the bill took forever. My wife and I ordered fairly simple items. A pulled pork sandwich with fries (extra) and a spicy sausage sandwich with fries (extra). I wouldnt usually mention that fries are extra but its especially painful when they arrive cold. My pulled pork was ok, but it wasnt drained very well so the water and grease turned my bun into a gross soggy mess. My wifes spicy sausage smelled like bologne and had the same consistency. My wife soldiered through the first bite and against her better judgment, went in for a second. After that she laid her napkin over the sandwich to avoid looking at it and smelling it. She gagged a little when she tried to describe it to me. No lie. My first clue should have been the ten page menu. Sorry, but not many places would even attempt to think they can pull off ten pages worth of food. This is the worst BBQ food you will ever eat. I ordered the so called smoked meat platter. There was no smoked flavor at all, as a matter of fact there was no taste at all. It was not cooked in a smoker. Very Dry, Very tough, no bbq sauce, just plain lousy food. Your much better of driving 8 miles away the the Black and Blue bbq resturant in St. Clair. We've been here a handful of times. The service has been slow every time, regardless of how empty it is. The last time I came, I ordered the portobello mushroom burger. 45 minutes after ordering, the waitress came back to inform me that they were out of portobello mushrooms. Why it took 45 minutes to figure this out, I have no idea. It's been a good 9 months since we've been back. Decided to try it again tonight. Once again, ordered the portobello mushroom burger. When the waitress brought out a salad, I jokingly said that I had thought she was coming to inform me that they were out of portobello mushrooms, but she didn't.... UNTIL A HALF HOUR LATER, when she really did come out to inform us that they were just about to start out order. HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW YOU ARE OUT OF GIGANTIC MUSHROOMS? We ordered a family meal to go and this is what happened: 1) Cheeseburger with Mushrooms, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomatoes- I was missing my Tomatoes, Lettuce and Bacon. Hamburger was Raw and Cold in Middle 2) Philly Stake Sandwich- Missing Stake. Pure Mushrooms, Onions and Peppers 3) Pulled Pork Sandwich- Ice Cold, Missing Sauce and Coleslaw 4) Cod Sandwich- Ice Cold and Missing Sauce 5) Club Sandwich- (was perfect, no complaints) 6) Fired Cauliflower- Found 3 HAIRS in box, Missing Dipping Sauce Side Note: All Meals were missing the "chips" that were to come with the meal. The cheese burger was a kids meal and it was missing the cookie and juice. I called and spoke to a waitress who explained to us that we could throw the food away that was cold and next time we come in they would offer us a "discount" on our next meal. When we found 3 HAIRS in our food I called and spoke to the Manager he stated if I brought the food in he would refund my money. The kitchen staff said we were late picking up our order and it was not their fault, they put everything in the to-go bags. This was a outright lie! We arrived at the restaurant only to wait an additional 15 minutes for our order to "finish-up". I explained it already went into the compactor per the waitress's directions. We were at the state park for a weekend of camping and decided to stop in on our way home. So happy we did! First, the fun starts in the parking lot and just gets even more amazing when you step inside! How unique and eclectic with a lot of humor sprinkled in! We sat in the tail gate right next to the air conditioner on this 82 degree day and DID NOT freeze ...no hot tea necessary or temper tantrum needed. The menu is FULL of southern specialities and some classics with their own special twist. There is absolutely something for everyone. Best and most important part...it's homemade!!! Expect a wait time and enjoy the food prepared with heart and wholesome goodness. Great adult drink options and non-alcoholic. We totally recommend the sweet tea! The manager and maybe an owner stopped in to check on us, gave a great description of our pork belly process....took care of our drinks....they were great. Now...I will say the waitress wasn't superb but she was young and learning the ropes. But this is why management is on the floor and checking in with customers. I'm sorry...but how often does that happen? KUDOS to you! Leaving we stopped to amaze our eyes looking at all the HOMEMADE deserts. "What is buttermilk pie?" I asked when we were paying our bill. Not only did I get an explanation but we got a sample to try. Yup! Different, unique and DELICIOUS. It isn't common and it isn't some extravagant desert...it is special and one of a kind! The food is mixed here, some days are better then others. They have a nice breakfast special with free coffee in the morning. I had lunch here once and I felt that for the money the portion was more on the small side, don't charge 10 dollars if your going to skimp on the side I say. The decor is extremely unique, if your ADHD you might go into over load looking at all of it. This is a newer business and they are still working out the kinks but are getting better with time. Dude...if you are going to write your own review no need to be so intimidated by mine lol, talk about tantrums;-) I really want this place to succeed....It has amazing potential to be a fun family place to eat great food. But (sorry)...it's not there yet but really only because of the service kinks. We went in early on a Saturday and were seated quickly. However, there were a lot of open tables and they put us immediately next to another group and it kind of felt cramped. But they were waiting for some staff to come in and didn't want to seat us near a larger group that was going to come in. We were understanding...but after sitting there for a bit we realized there was an air vent very close by. It was 80 degrees out, and we were dressed for that...but sat in the restaurant freezing. We put our order in, my kids order drinks. Those took a bit to get to our table, at that point my son changed his order to hot tea because he was miserably cold (and crabby at that point)....the large group hadn't arrived yet, and still other open tables (we should have just asked to move at that point)...they went to use the restrooms and found the rest of the place was quieter and not freezing (quite cozy actually). But thankfully the appetizers came...and they were good (all fried, so they do fried food really well). Then we waited....another couple who ordered after us had their food arrive (it looked good).....we waited some more (nothing came out of the kitchen at this time)..waited some more. Then the group behind us got some of their order....then the rest (oh so ours should be next)....waited some more. Finally it came. To be fair they are still new and working out kinks, so I expected a wait. However....there seemed to be not much coming out of the kitchen to explain the delay. Entrees...nothing was bad and certain things were really good, but I think one of the downfalls is the large menu. My husband got a burger (Blarney stone) and it was really good. He had asked for a side of BBQ, and we really liked it. I realized BBQ dishes may be the way to go. I had the Jambalaya, it was good (not a lot of shrimp but they were cooked really well), but I would rather have ordered something great. One kid had pizza, and the crust was yummy. The other kid had pasta...way too much sauce and the sauce was over sweet (if it had less sauce it may have been fine). The homemade chips served, were just ok. The kids had cookies which seemed a bit stale (but came free with kids meals so there's that). But we had no real complaints about the food. However I think they need to pair down the menu so they can just focus on what they do great. It may also help with the speed of service. I would not recommend sitting in the middle of the bar side...it was really cold and we constantly had people squeezing by us. The other tables seemed fun and cozy. The staff all seemed nice, just still need to work out the kinks. I was looking forward to the desserts...they were also ok. I've not had buttermilk pie before, I don't know what to expect. But I wasn't wowed by it. A lot of whipped topping which took away from any flavor of the pie. Even when I had just the pie I didn't understand what the big deal was (a lot of signs declaring we had to try it lol). We will try again, but not until the fall or winter. I wish them the best, and I hope others try it for themselves! I know I will keep checking back to see if there is improvements. But so far the issues I had seemed to be the same others have had. The menu is way too long and confusing even to the waitress to try and explain. Tried breakfast the first time around. Service very slow. The bacon was inedible. How do you mess up bacon?? The potato Bomb was a bomb. I asked for no gravy and guess how it came eech!! Then we went back for lunch on another day a week later. Again the wait time for our food was long with few customers. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was good and tasty. My partner had the ribs that he said were very good. Would go back again, but never for their breakfast. if you go, Allow a lot of time.
