I came here on lunch break craving seafood, since New Baltimore is located off Anchor Bay. I was expecting to walk in and get fried or baked lake fish, but to my surprise this place goes for a more tropical theme. Soon as you walk in, you feel like you were transported to a tropical island in the Caribbean. Most of the seafood items consist of lobster, shrimp and mahi. But they also offer burgers, various chicken dishes, and tropical drinks. I was not expecting to like the restaurant this much, but they are a hidden gem. The lobster roll I got came with pineapple coleslaw for $24, which is a pretty good deal for lobster roll. I also asked to have it with a side of chips, which was a good idea as it gave my meal more texture since the lobster rolls are very soft, but delicious nonetheless due to the fact they use Hawaiian rolls for the sandwich bread. I finished my meal with a slice of key lime pie, which was also excellent. Very disappointing experience. We came in Saturday, September 5th around 6:30 PM and sat for 15-20 minutes without ever being greeted or approached by a server, not even to take a drink order. The bartenders and waitress clearly saw us and made eye contact multiple times but never acknowledged us. We eventually got up and left, and still no one said a word. We've been here before and were excited to come back, but unfortunately after this experience, we will not be returning. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and when my sister and I heard they had soft-serve margaritas, we made a special trip just to check it out. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the soft-serve margarita machine was down and we were told it would be another 30 minutes. We decided to order different drinks instead, but in hindsight we could have waited because our food didn't arrive for nearly an hour and a half. When we first got there, there was only one other table occupied, so the wait was really surprising. As time went on, more people started coming in and being seated, but it seemed like several tables weren't being greeted for quite a while. We even watched one table get up and leave before anyone came over to them. There also seemed to be a lot of confusion at the entrance because the host stand is awkwardly placed. Multiple people looked unsure whether they were supposed to seat themselves or wait to be seated, and the layout just isn't very inviting or intuitive for guests or even the staff. We ordered the lobster roll with a side of mac and cheese and a chicken bowl. The lobster roll was incredibly disappointing--dry, lacking flavor, and honestly just unpleasant. The mac and cheese and chicken bowl were okay, but nothing memorable enough to justify the wait or the price. Speaking of the price, this meal was expensive, which made the experience even more disappointing. I left feeling like I had wasted my money. I had really been looking forward to trying this restaurant, but between the unavailable signature drink, the extremely long wait, the confusing atmosphere, and the underwhelming food, it was a frustrating experience from start to finish. This place has Great Vibes, Awesome Staff & Delicious food. Very cute boutique inside along with seating & a small bar. Outside are heated gazebos with fireplace tables. They supply blankets for chilly nights. Katie our server was amazing & Chuck made sure our fire was warm along with blankets and that we were having a Great experience. I hate the choices yelp gives us to rate. The food is good, the service (waitstaff) is good, ambiance is great.... BUT this place is a mess. We came early May and waited well over an hour for food. After making a reservation for outside that was "lost", we needed to sit inside. Then had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for food. We had a person on our party that had to leave due to other obligations. The owner said he'd "take care of us" which was a measly 15% discount. My friend reached out and said how awful our experience was. The new owner supposedly felt terrible and said he'd make it up to us. We came back today and he promised we'd be happier. Same wait for food....over an hour. We sat for 15 min before someone even asked for a drink order. We will never be back. The ambiance is great, but they need to get it together if they plan to stay open . There are too many great places in New Baltimore. This may be one, eventually, but I will not be back. read more

Back at my one of my favorite places for afternoon happy hour! They have rum runners for 5 bucks during happy hour and it runs from 3-5 m-f. The place has such a cool ambience to it with all the decor about the beach life. The bar area is small but very cool, they have a lot of cool tropical drinks too! Food is very good here as well. This was our fourth visit, and unfortunately it will be our last. When we arrived, four employees--including the owner--walked right past us at the hostess stand without so much as a greeting or even acknowledging that someone would be with us shortly. When the hostess finally seated us, she let us know the kitchen was backed up about 25 minutes. We ordered our drinks and food immediately, hoping to minimize the wait. An hour later, we still hadn't received our food, and our waitress never once checked in to apologize for the delay or provide an update. She also never refilled my drink or even offered to. I finally asked how much longer, and she told us "five minutes." It ended up being another 15 minutes before our food arrived. We both ordered the lobster roll. It came out without the advertised chips, the coleslaw was drowning in mayonnaise and completely inedible, and the lobster roll itself was dry and lacked any flavor. By this point, I still hadn't received a drink refill. The most disappointing part of the experience was watching the owner spend his time hanging out at the bar instead of helping the restaurant run smoothly. We overheard him talking negatively about his bartender behind her back, even making the comment, "Typical woman." It was incredibly unprofessional. When he eventually came over to our table, we explained everything that had happened. His response was, "I'd offer you a shot, but I don't think that would help." We were dining with our 9-year-old daughter, making the comment even more inappropriate. He apologized briefly and simply walked away without attempting to make anything right. Poor service, poor food, and poor management. After giving this place four chances, we've decided we won't be back. read more

We stumbled upon this place on a still cold and relatively quiet Friday evening and immediately liked the covered cozy patio sitting with fire pit. The service was fast and smooth. The waitress humbly agreed that she is new and that mine was the first coffee she made and asked for feedback.( the coffee was great, btw). A little lukewarm for my taste but reheated on request. I was disappointed for a minute there seeing coffee in a to-go cup but it was just a matter of setting expectation. We ordered a Margarita flatbread and power-blend salad and both were good. They push the lobster (higher profit margin?). I took the bait and ordered a lobster roll. It was underwhelming, I want my $25 back. Festive decor with pseudo-beach vibe meets boutique, gift shop and all. Cool wall mermaid. Cheaply constructed tables and chairs. The unseasoned staff were attentive and chatty. They tried. Not much value here folks. Foodwise, it's a glorified high school cafeteria. The price point demands much more effort and quality. The strong point here is the bar. We had been wanted to try this place since we moved here a couple months ago! We finally did! I loved the ambiance! There are little decorations around that you can purchase! It's super cute and gives tiki/beach vibes! We started with a giant pretzel...and they aren't kidding! That thing was huge! It came with a house made queso that was amazing! We originally wanted to try bosco sticks but they were out. They were also out of pasta, surf and turf, and mahi mahi among a few other things. Basically everything my husband wanted to order The waitress had said their truck hadn't come in when it was supposed to. That was kind of a bummer. I got the burnt ends and they were okay. They were really small and a little dry. They needed BBQ sauce or something. The roasted red potatoes were so good! I didn't care too much for the pineapple cole slaw. It was pretty much just regular cole slaw with pineapple tidbits thrown in. My mojito was nice and strong! The service was great! We went in for cold beer, and we got one. Didn't get a chance to eat here but it seemed like everyone else was enjoying their food. The bartender was friendly and definitely it is a neighborhood kind of place, most of the staff knows most of the customers. Very casual dining they have a great patio out back. The front of the house is a little confusing whether you should sit and have a drink at the bar or if you should shop. But I think that's kind of what the owners were going for. read more

I'll start off by saying I attended the Tropical Cocktail Garnish class. It was amazing! Food great, service great, cutest restaurant and bar! This week I recommended it to my parents. Sign out front advertising walleye special. They ask for the walleye special and are told no walleye special. They say ok, we will take the walleye regular price and are told we don't have walleye, didn't even realize they had a sign out front that was from last week. Order the lobster roll and mahi mahi (terrible can't cut). Shortly after immediately sick from the lobster roll. There was so much potential. Last time I recommend this place! read more

After a disappointing anniversary meal on Friday, we decided to try something different on Saturday, and what a difference! I heard from locals that this used to be just a boutique/store, but relatively recently added the restaurant out back on the beautiful covered patio. I'm so glad they did. Started off with Street Corn Nachos with pulled pork. I wish we had 4-6 people at our table, because this appetizer was fantastic but huge and filling! Splitting it with just my wife and I meant I was already mostly full for when my dinner arrived :) The pork was more like cubed pork than pulled... but I think that works better in this nacho format. Only thing that could have made this appetizer better would be a small cup of salsa in which to dip the rare nacho that didn't get a dose of queso on it. My dinner was a delicious blackened mahi mahi. The waitress was afraid they were out of it (at 6pm on Saturday) but fortunately that wasn't the case. The fish was delicious, layered and flaky. It came with brussels sprouts and roasted red potatoes. The brussels sprouts were fantastic - they came with feta and a drizzle that I loved. I wish they trimmed them a bit better, though - I found myself cutting the woody ends off many of my bites. The potatoes were delicious as well. We were also pleasantly surprised by having a live singer / keyboard player. She had an excellent vocal range, and picked some awesome songs that really highlighted her talent. I was worried it was going to be too loud and spoil the "anniversary dinner" vibe, but it was quite the opposite - it made the experience fun and unique. I hope if I ever return that she is there sharing her talent once again. I also had a Rum Runner. It wasn't super strong, and it was a bit too sweet, but it fit the island atmosphere and went well with the very mildly spicy blackened mahi mahi. The service was great. Someone was complaining about their service on the way out, but ours was great. Helpful with the menu, friendly, and attentive regarding water refills and checking on our meals. She was on top of little requests, like bringing me a cup of lemon wedges I could squeeze on my fish. I would love to visit this location again sometime in the future, and maybe try one of their shrimp or lobster dishes. They looked delectable! read more

It was my Birthday yesterday and my family took me to On the Bay in Downtown New Baltimore ! I give it 5 stars or more! It's very nice inside and the outside dining is wonderful the tables have center built in mini fire places ! The food was amazing there were a lot of choices . A very quaint, cozy place to enjoy life for a while. Our friends took us there yesterday to enjoy some conversation and food. A small place that has both indoor or outdoor seating. Most outdoor seating was well covered from the sun, which was definitely needed yesterday. Our server Mike was laid back with a good memory as he needed to write not anything down. We started with drinks and the Brussel Sprouts, done as well as anyone could ask for. Lots of slushy/slurpy drinks to pick from both non alcoholic and spiked. From there my wife went to a Chicken Salad Croissant which she thoroughly enjoyed. Lobster! There were four different Lobster dishes.I opted for the Lobster Roll, on King's Hawaiian as I never see this on anyone's menu unless I back East in Maine. While the flavor was good it lacked character, the taste unfortunately left me wanting to head back to Boothbay Harbor. For a good lobster Roll I would pay more, here or anywhere. But, give them credit for trying. Definitely worth going back for. read more

Place is falling off. They closed the majority of the "Boutique," and now focus more on food and drinks, with an emphasis on drinks. Where patrons were formally greeted by a boutique, with the option to sit on a small patio, they're now greeted by a full bar that has a nice selection of shirts and tchotchkes. A welcome difference, the prior setup was confusing and uninviting. That said, the food, and the drinks have gone downhill since the renovation. The old lobster roll was served on a buttery delicious Hawaiian roll, double long, packed full of lobster. The new version was dry, on an overly toasted bun, with less lobster; far less enjoyable. Mac and cheese is pretty good, but it tastes like its from GFS. The "Hot White Russian" would be a good drink... if it was hot... It was served Luke warm, at best. They need to add hot cream to it, instead of cooling down the coffee with cold cream. She topped off my drink with more hot coffee, and it still was barely warm. My gf got an espresso martini, which was just ok. We requested that they don't make it with Bailey's as the menu suggests, and the bartender explained that "she doesn't make hers with Baileys." That's a bit concerning, because the bartenders are apparently not following the ingredients on the menu. The drink had too much simple syrup, and was too sweet for her taste. I'm not sure if they don't store their cream properly, or if there is some other food quality issue, but I had a terrible stomach ache shortly after my lobster roll and cocktail. read more

I have been here several times and have always enjoyed it. Stopped in yesterday to sit on the patio have a few drinks and see where it goes. We got seated at a table and were informed the flame/fire table wasn't working. It was fine the weather was nice. We then waited atleast 20-30 minutes to order a drink. The place was not busy and we constantly saw two servers walk past us many times. We finally stopped one and asked a question and he did ask if we had been served. The server eventually came back in 10-15 minutes. We ordered 1 drink each, we would have easily ordered several if we had the opportunity. One of my favorite drinks is a pain killer (which I have had here before) I don't know what I was served but it was not correct. After almost 1.5 hours of sitting I told the server to return it. We cashed out and left. It seemed like no one really cared about taking care of us. The table next to us had drinks and food before we had our drinks and they sat down well after us. It was a terrible experience and definitely will not be in a hurry to return. read more

Walking by, you'd never expect what a great spot this is to hang out at! Great inside and even better outside in back. A fun spot to have cocktails.... We went for the frozen strawberry daiquiri, rum runner and a mojito. Lunch wise.... Had the lobster flatbread, lobster roll and mahi-mahi tacos... all were great. The flatbread had a key lime-tangerine sweet oil drizzled on it... I think I'd prefer some sort of chili infused oil but my family all loved the sweet oily they used. This is a quirky little shop located in downtown New Baltimore. The place seems to have a touch of an identity crisis, trying to be a gift shop, coffee shop, smoothie shop, bar and restaurant. I came here to grab a quick takeout to go and enjoy by the water at a nearby park. Now, I spent a good chunk of my childhood in New England, so I've had my share of lobster rolls. This one was.. well, the kind thing to say is it's a decent attempt at one. Some forgiveness must be given as it is in Michigan and as much coastline as it does have, it does not naturally have lobsters native to its waters (haha). The lobster was not the freshest and it was mostly small shreds of meat. It had a lot of butter added. I prefer mine fresh, large chunks and with just a touch of Mayo and that's it! My biggest complaint though was the choice of roll. It was a soft dinner roll type of bread and it didn't stand a chance in holding up against all the butter. They also forgot my side of pineapple slaw that was supposed to come with it. Overall, it's a cute little place and I'm sure it's nice to come have a drink on the patio, but if you are looking for a real deal lobster roll, this really isn't it.
