This is an awesome place, the food is always good, our service is always outstanding I've been here several times and each time it has been excellent. We had the prime rib and we had the ribs, they were both delicious and tender. Drinks are solid. The beer is ice cold, and the mixed drinks are not weak. This place is busy so if you want to go, be prepared to wait a little bit or get there early. Want to talk about going off the beaten path? I found this bar/restaurant completely by accident. Initially I just wanted to get a bite during lunch break, but it ended up being a nice place to watch the Tigers opening day game. It was packed, and the service was very good despite how busy it was. Decided on the lake perch dinner, which came with perfectly fried pieces of perch. The fries and cole slaw were no slouches either. They are located in Chesterfield just off I-94 and there is not much going on in this particular area, so it must be a hot spot. The food is subpar from what it used to be for a much more expensive price. Also service is terrible. They hire very young people that couldn't care less about delivering good service or quality. When you call to complain, they have attitude and don't try to troubleshoot what the issues are. Bottom line, would get more for your money AND better service somewhere else. Food was good, service was okay and the place was clean. Prices were very fair. I had mild cramps after my meal, I suspect that the bartender put a diuretic in my food. I'm not sure why? Cute little spot in town. We went with some mozzarella sticks which were tasty and not too greasy. I had the steak bites and half slab of ribs. The ribs were so fall off the bone tender. So tasty! Went there on a Saturday; the place was busy but we were quickly seated and waitress came over for drink orders just after seating. We ordered saganaki; it was not flamed at the table and was not super hot. Husband ordered prime rib and salad. He said both were good. Waitress was attentive when his beer glass was getting empty. I had the stuffed shells with cole slaw. The shells were very good and I ended taking one home. Creamy coleslaw not my style; like mine more vinegary. Dawn! Need I say more? I don't think I've ever had a server give me a password as quickly and kindly as Dawn did-its usually a shrug or a nod in the direction of the #sign. I wanted to look something up, and when she hit me with it's #allaboutthebush, I cracked up. I had to thank her for that because it really made my day. We had mutual interests, and chatted for a bit, and she was so patient. My friend is a regular, and recommended the perch, so we went with that. He ordered the dinner (5pc), I got the lunch (3pc), both sauteed. His meal Included the lobster this when it came to the table, he asked me right away if I wanted to try it. Well, of course, I did...and it was absolutely out of this world! Just the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Lots of lobster. So, again, Dawn, who was never far away, came over and immediately got the order taken care of and brought me my soup in less time than it takes to say, "No soup for you!". This was a #FirstEncounterOfTheDateKind, and we were there awhile. We never felt rushed, drinks were refreshed promptly, orders delivered quickly, and all in all a 5 experience. The red skin taters were a nice add to the dinner. Now... one thing reviewers don't like: having to give feedback on a dish they're not particularly fond of...as a Michigander, I've been a #PerchAndPickerel fan forever. I've never had perch sauteed. I won't again. It def needed SOMETHING spicewise. I tried drowning it in lemon to no avail. I don't "do" tartar sauce, so that's on me. I do limited gluten, BUT, since the perch is a fave, I would def try it the next time, but breaded and fried. No shade! We've been here in the past...my 'spousal unit' Bev loves fish and chips and I am not a fan, but there's lots of other choices, and tonight it was a new (to me) item: 10 boneless chicken wings with choice of sauce for $10. These days, that's not a bad price. I tried them, and they were very, very good. Chunks of white meat in a Michigan cherry BBQ sauce hit the spot nicely. This place is not close to home but once we came here we make a point of returning. The food is great and we love a place that has interesting and diverse specials. There is a polish day one day, I had chicken parmesan another day and it was really delicious. There is a half off bottle of wine special on Tuesdays where my wife had one glass and took the remaining bottle home. Went to Sugar Bush Tavern on Friday April 14th about 6:00 p.m.. The place was very busy and had a short wait. Always love this place for Keno, a beer, and a meal. Server was great though the meal took quite a while to receive. Usually they're much faster. I love a good perch dinner on a Friday night, though the perch is a bit different here at Sugar Bush. The skin is still left on, which you can see in the picture, and it is very tough and chewy when you try to eat it. Most other places actually remove the skin before cooking, leaving it a pleasure to eat, which wasn't quite the case this time. I tried the perch here once before, and talked to the waitress who told me she checked with the cook, and no one else had ever complained about the tough chewy skin on the perch. Being as I've never had perch anywhere with tough chewy skin on it, I found this quite unbelievable. Seems they don't really know how to prepare batter fried perch properly. On a positive note, other menu items I've had here, were all prepared properly and tasted great. read more

This place was recommended by my hotel and it was close, so I tried it out. There are 2 locations for this tavern and they are known for their ribs, along with the perch and french onion soup. It was actually the 1st of 2 taverns I visited during my short stay in the Chesterfield area. I started with a horny monk which happened to be on sale that night for $4, and then ordered a 1/2 rack ribs with red skin potatoes, and a polish wedding stew. I had wanted baked potato as a side, but they were out. I've never even heard of Italian wedding stew, much less a Polish version which uses diced polish sausage instead of meatballs. Either way, it was a nice start to the rest of the meal. My favorite part of the dinner was the ribs, and the cherry bbq sauce, which is one of their top sellers. Although the meat was slightly dry, the ribs were still really good. Nothing special about the potatoes. Three of us had a late dinner on Friday. We live 2 hours away and noticed how busy it was, so stopped. We were seated immediately and waitress did ok. The food though was not good. One had bone in wings. They were so tiny and fatty. 6 of them for $9! We should have sent them back. One had a burger; overcooked and nothing special. One had Maurice salad and enjoyed it. Moved to Chesterfield in July 2021. Everyone said you need to try out Sugarbush Tavern once you live in chesterfield. I've tried it twice and won't be back. Both times we ate at Sugarbush the food has been decent but the SERVICE WAS BRUTAL. First, the table was dirty we got sat at. The busboy wiped the table down after we asked but clearly missed a few spots and didn't give a damn. Next the waitress was rude to us during the whole meal. She slid the soups across the table with the crackers and did not care. She seemed bothered to have to fill up our drinks. She was annoyed when I asked for the check. Maybe she had a bad night but no need to take it out on us. We had a similar experience last time we went to Sugarbush Tavern so it seems to be a trend and not an off night. To sum up, AVOID SUGARBUSH TAVERN DUE TO BAD SERVICE and support other local restaurants in the area. read more
