I went in for a lab testing last week and waited for the results. Usually, lab results came back in 3-4 days but not this time. I called the office. They are now called Closeknit. The person answered my call was nice. After he put me on hold a couple of times, he found out that my sample was never submitted. The reason was when the lab technician came to pick up samples, the person that worked in the doctor's office never printed the doctor's order for my sample. As a result, they never submitted my sample. I don't understand why 1st, the person that was responsible for printing the order didn't do it; 2nd, why the technician didn't alert the office there? 3rd, why nobody from the doctor's office called me and asked me to go back and give sample again? It's frustrating and makes me wonder what kind of other mistakes they can make? Mixing up patient's samples or orders? As of now, I am waiting for their office manager to call me back. read more

When Dr Dinesh was practicing it was a great clinic. I has an 8am appointment, checked in at 7:45am and I was left in the doctor's waiting room for 35 mins and not seen. It was an appointment I had booked two months before and was due to have blood work as well. I had to walk to reception to request blood work as I had been waiting for almost 40 mins. Reception staff are inattentive, rude and I would not recommend this clinic. I left the office as the waiting time was ridiculous. read more

Based on the other comments and my own experience, Comprehensive Primary Care has a serious problem with their support staff. CPC has an office on Cedar Lane opposite NIH. I saw Amy Manley (CRNO) on Sept 2 for a preop exam; my second visit. I discussed my need to track my testosterone levels (I am 72) and asked that testosterone be included in my blood work. I brought a package that contained a pump bottle of Testosterone solution-to show exactly what I needed. I asked for a prescription for three months with one set of refills, my standard prescription. The giant pharmacist received a prescription for one bottle and testosterone was not included in my blood work request. I sent an email to Amy via Jamin.gusman (the receptionist) requesting at a minimum to change the prescription. Five days later, I called and Jasmin said: "we have been soooo busy" (they weren't busy when I was there.) A week later and no response and I am "So Never Going to CPC again." read more

Today I went for a rheumatology appointment with Dr. Eugene Miknowski. This was my second horrible appointment with this lazy awful human, and my last visit to Comprehensive Primary Care ever. I am a patient of Dr, Kodroff who is too busy to be attentive to anyone, no fault of her own. Before her I was a patient of Dr. Dinesh and she loved me and I loved her. She knew I was honest and hurting and I needed her and she was always there. I have had problems with my health since birth and she knew it. She just had a heart a bedside manner that made you feel seen and trusted and trusting. Dr. Eugene Miknowski is a horrible doctor. Horrible. The first time I met with him and I gave him a notebook full of symptoms and my mothers long history of 2 types of arthritis he kept saying in a nasty way, not a normal kind way you aren't your mother, stop referencing your mother. You don't have to tell me about your Mom... Stuff like that. When in fact family history is relevant. He didn't seem to believe my pain or that I have arthritis, even when i told him a prior doctor told me I had the genetic marker for it show up in a previous test. A month or 2 later I had a Bouchard node grow on the finger I had been complaining about and the knuckles I told him would swell and not allow me to form a fist would still flare up at times. This node grew and was painful so when I got the chance to go back and kind of be like see? Told you, I do have arthritis, here is proof in the bone that grew from my finger!! He told me it was a cyst that he could move. Now ladies and gentleman. IT DOES NOT MOVE. I asked him to make my finger move it and he could only make my skin move, I said that to him and he said, why go to a doctor if you don't want to hear what the doctor is saying? I was like I do but it doesn't move and like it doesn't so like why won't you help me? It hurts. And then I was like ok so the area around my eyes is painful from my tears, he was like no thats a Dr. Kodroff thing. I was like but I'm here with you, can't you help me. He was like I'm not an eye Dr. I was like neither is she. I was like in the past when Dr. Dinesh was busy you helped when I was sick you won't help? I also think I have a sinus infection, you won't help me? He actually said "Don't make me feel guilty" WHAT????? Dr. Kodroff has no appointments. You have helped in the past, you just won't now because you don't want to and I am not well and I shouldn't make you feel guilty???? Holy Cow!!! Like WTF. I then went to the lobby and asked Joanna and she had the MF's back and I was like I will never come back here. I am going to complain to everyone I can. That is insane. read more

Definitely would not recommend comprehensive care. It took me almost 2 weeks to get a prescription refilled it. I really needed this rx recently passed out at work due to the lack of calling in an RX to be refilled. This place is terrible. Would not recommend that you go here. You will not be treated well. read more

My complaint to the practice was that the phlebotomist seemed to rush through when she tried to do my blood work. She couldn't find my veins (I do have small veins), poked the needle four times, and left my right arm with bruises for a week. read more

My wife and I tested positive for Covid yesterday. I called the main line to get the antiviral drug and the lady who answered the phone was VERY rude, and unsympathetic. She told me that there were NO appointments in any of their offices, I was not allowed to talk to a doctor or to a medical assistant. I had questions about what alternatives I had being that this was the Friday before a 3 day weekend. Her response was that "no one is available because they are on vacation." I have been a patient at Primary Adult Care in Chevy Chase since January 2008. Dr. Cohen is my primary care physician,but, in a pinch, I have also seen Dr. Subramanian and Dr. Khludenev. I have had nothing but great experiences with this office and am happy to write them a glowing review! Dr. Cohen is a DO and a fantastic woman. She takes a full history of all her patients and takes time to discuss all medical issues in full. She is not a doctor who is in a rush to write you a prescription and shuffle you out of the office- she really takes time to make sure you're getting high quality care. I go to her for annual check ups as well as my woman's visits. I saw Dr. Subramanian twice last year when I came down with two bladder infections. She also took time to sit down and talk to me about how to prevent the infections and different methods to relieve symptoms. One of the coolest things about Dr. Subramanian is that before working at this office, she was a Doc at a free community clinic. It seems like she really cares about the work that she does and making people feel better. On top of having great docs, the staff at this office is great also. I got sick last year and basically just needed to run in and grab a prescription. The assistant squeezed me into the schedule that same day so that I didn't have to go to an Urgent Care clinic. Once, I completely messed up and showed up on the wrong day for an appointment. Instead of chastising me, the assistant put me in the schedule for that same morning. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes at this office, while the docs have spent upwards of 30 minutes with me. I highly recommend this office to anyone seeking holistic medical care...or anyone who just wants a really fantastic doctor! FYI: the office is about a 5 minute walk north of the Friendship Heights Metro stop (Redline). They accept most types of insurance. read more

I never knew finding a doctor could be such an ordeal, but I got "No Vacancy" from doctor after doctor before I finally scored an appointment here. I should have been suspicious of why this office was the only one taking new patients. When I got to the office, my appointment had been booked wrong, so I was pushed back half an hour, and they had to add a new patient exam. Maybe it was because she ended up having to examine me during her break, but Dr. Cohen was hands down the worst doctor I've ever had the displeasure to meet. She ignored my input, and seemed to think I was lying about my medical history. Without getting into medical details on the internet, she was horribly insensitive and really violated that whole "do no harm" thing. The nurses and other workers here were perfectly nice, though my appointment was booked incorrectly, so maybe the other doctors are good. And maybe I caught Dr Cohen on an off day. Regardless, I can't give this place more than one star as I'd sooner ask for healthcare at a teabagger protest than go here again. read more

My experience with Comprehensive Primary Care over the three years I went to the practice is mixed. The practitioners I saw were perfectly fine, I never experienced any kind of administrative mix-ups, and I can't remember ever having a problem booking an appointment in a timely fashion. My biggest complaint is that the practice does not call to inform patients of test results, even when the tests show abnormalities. All test results are available to patients through their patient portal, but the portals require multiple passwords and are not user-friendly. For example, they have no mobile version of their portal. Even for individuals proficient with the portals, the care can be sub-optimal. For example, I had to have a bone density scan and had a question about my results. However, when I called the ordering physician (Dr. Neelima Marpu) she didn't even look at my test results and gave vague, unhelpful answers to my inquiries. That being said, Dr. Ghulam Abbas is truly a wonderful practitioner. He is knowledgeable and exudes warmth and compassion. I happened to see him while I was going through a difficult time and he took a few minutes to talk to me and share stories about similar things that had happened in his life. I even felt comfortable enough to request that he give me a pap smear, despite normally preferring female doctors for any kind of pelvic exam. read more

***UPDATE*** Dr. Subramaniam left the practice. I started seeing Dr. Shotashvilla and she is PHENOMENAL. She's smart, extremely thorough, takes time to explain her process, and considers EVERYTHING before sending you home with an Rx. Highly recommended. I was thisclose to quitting this practice until I became Dr. Asha Subramanian's patient. Prior to seeing her I'd been seen by both a PA and NP at the practice, in spite of my requests to be seen by an MD. As a new DC transplant I quickly learned that good physicians are hard to find (90% of the MDs I called were not accepting new patients) and started to get really frustrated. Dr. Subramaniam has great bedside manner. She conveys medical information in a way that is easily understandable. I never feel that she rushes through my visit--she takes time to explain everything. On a couple occasions I've been able to see her within a week of requesting an appointment. The practice has a new system whereby patients can view lab and test results online which is really convenient. They also store patients' preferred pharmacist's information and will send a script to the pharmacy. Your meds will be there waiting for you! read more

My 1st visit (Dec. 2010) went soooo smooth! I was referred by a co-worker; she told me about Comprehensive in Rockville,but I went to the Chevy Chase location...had an appt with Dr. Godwin. I thought I had a Upper Resp Infection, but she said it sounded more like bronchitis! And boy, was she right because the meds she prescribed had those symptoms under control within two days! Other places I've gone to have missed the mark every time...they usually misdiagnose me and give me the wrong Rx! The doctor was very receptive of my concerns, and seemed to genuinely care about the way I was feeling...she even invited me to return in the future for a physical. read more

I had a really good experience with this practice. I'm relatively new to the city and had a nasty stomach virus. Just to ensure that it was a virus, I wanted to go see someone and had to cold call about 20 practices before I found someone that had same-day openings. It was easy to find the office, and it was clean and the people were very nice. I saw Dr. Borelli, who is a nurse practitioner (with a Phd in nursing). She was very knowledgeable about different types of medications and took the time to listen to my symptoms and talk about different options for medication. I will definitely go back to Dr. Borelli. I've seen a lot of comments on this page about these doctors and NPs not being specialized--isn't that the point of primary care doctors? Dr. Borelli seemed ready to refer me to a specialist if my symptoms persisted. read more

I'm Asha Subramanian's patient, and she is really nice. I can say that doctors here are not specialists but they give good advice, they recommend the right person, and they are really helpful. You will not leave this place unsatisfied. The only issue I had was with the front desk. Once I requested to walk-in because I had a terrible hand injury and I wanted to ask my doctor's opinion. I did not want to go to the ER for a deep but tiny hand cut. After making me wait for 20 minutes the guy at the front desk told me to come back on Monday (it was a Friday). It was very disappointing as it was more urgent than a regular office visit. read more

I was recently able to make a new-patient appointment with less than a week's notice for the Chevy Chase practice, and was so impressed by their efficiency and friendly service. It was such a relief to find a new primary care provider since I've moved back to town, especially given how tough it can be to find someone good who will take your insurance. While I was waiting (briefly), it was interesting to see a range of other patients come in--they clearly treat everyone, young and old. I got what I needed from the appointment and feel incredibly relieved to know there's a doctor I can rely on whenever I next need one. read more

The patient portal is a joke. They do not read the messages and reply time is 2 or more days or none at all. I am fine with calling in for questions/appointments, but if you encourage using the portal, there should be a reasonable amount of time (i.e. within 24 hours) to reply and take the time to actually read the message. Generally people don't make doctors appointments when they are feeling good and need to get in as soon as possible. Or have some days with later hours for people that can't call or make it during regular business hours, hence using the portal as another option. I told them I was having pain severe pain in my right side and might as well get a physical while I was there. The only response was that I am not due for a physical yet. Did you miss the part where I said severe pain? I replied to still set up an appointment otherwise and have gotten no response. Thank god for urgent care because I discovered I had a kidney infection. I will never use this place again because had I actually depended on the available patient portal service, I could've been in real trouble. It's a bummer because the doctors are good and the staff is nice when I have gone in the past. Call or end up worse off. read more

My first experience with Dr. Randi Kodruff recently was not very pleasant. After explaining to her that I thought I might have a blood clot in my right calf, I asked if she would order a D-Dimer test, which I understand to be a way of ruling out a blood clot. If the D-Dimer test comes back negative, you most likely do not have a clot. She told me I should have a venous ultrasound instead, because if the test came back positive I would need to have it done anyway. I explained that I am having financial difficulties, have a very high deductible of $6200, and that I would prefer the less expensive option first. She rolled her eyes and told me that she had no idea how much either procedure cost, and then got up and started walking out and said over her shoulder "Go in that room, they'll take your blood, we'll call you with the results". I called several times over the next couple of weeks to inquire about my results, and finally I got a call from Vanessa asking how my calf was doing. I explained that it was fine, and asked about my test results. She had to check and call me back, at which point she told me that Dr. Kodruff said that the test had been run improperly, that there was no value in repeating it again, and that I should have the venous ultrasound done if I was still concerned. I decided not to pursue it because of my financial situation, so at the end of the day I ended up with a $186 bill for a rudely-conducted visit that didn't give me what I had requested. read more

My primary doctor is Dr. Cohen, and oddly, I've seen her maybe once during all my years of coming here. But that's the nice thing about this place - because of all the people who work here, I almost always get in the same day or the next day. Everyone is pretty nice (even the front desk staff), they can email your prescriptions to your pharmacy, and you can walk here from the Friendship Heights metro. The downsides are that 1. it's really close to all of the fancy stores in the area and my wallet quivers in their presence, 2. if you park here, they don't validate, and 3. the parking garage is confusing...whatever you do, do NOT forget what floor you're parked at. Once I was wandering around, up and down, trying to remember where I parked, and when you're sick, that's the last thing you want to do. read more

Since I moved here 1 year ago I started seeing Dr. Cohen at CPC. She is a DO, and a great doctor. She listens to you, takes time to talk to you, and is fairly easy to schedule an appt. with. She takes a holistic approach to medicine, which I think its great, and is able to recommend non-perscription remedies to supplement her care. She also was able to make a recommendation (who turned out to be great) when I needed specialized care. She is close to the friendship heights metro, and accepts BCBS Basic. It's so hard to find good docs who still accept basic health insurance, I definitely recommend her. read more

I've seen Dr. Dinesh three times for three different reasons and found her to be an excellent primary care Dr. She is quick as a whip - listens intently and with a true desire to understand me. I feel like I'm being heard and understood. She explains things thoroughly and with a friendly manner. In addition to the wonderful Dr.-patient interaction, Dr. Dinesh and her staff were quick to respond to my requests for a new prescription I forgot to ask about during the appointment. I'm sorry to say this, because these people are very nice, but if you actually have a health problem this is not where you want to be. I have been playing phone tag with these folks for weeks, just trying to get them to send me some test results. If you want to talk to your doctor they put you through to the voice mail of the medical assistant, who then doesn't understand what you are talking about. Communication with an actual physician is next-to-impossible unless you make an appointment. Unless you are just going to the doctor to check your weight and chit-chat, keep looking. read more

I recently had to switch doctors, due to a change in my insurance plan. After trying a few multiple-doctor offices, I settled on Comprehensive Primary Care for several reasons: 1) The staff responsible for making appointments is quick to respond and very nice to deal with. You can also request appointments online, which can come in very handy. I've never had to wait more than a week to get an appointment, either. 2) Dr. Asha Subramanian is wonderful--caring, responsive, eager to listen, and made me very comfortable. 3) The waiting room is peaceful. I spent very little time there, too. Appointment times are honored and you don't spend forever sitting in a room in a gown waiting for someone to show up. This has been true even when I've shown up late in the afternoon. 4) They also have an online prescription refill request set up, which I haven't used, but seems as though it could be beneficial. (I only hope that my insurance plan doesn't change their approved doctors list again--because I really like this place!) read more

In terms of getting a simple prescription refill completed, I am now on day 3 of trying to get this task completed. Having been in the front office for 45 minutes to then be told I would be getting a call to not getting a call to leaving a new VM message to get a prescription refilled....there has GOT to be an easier way. read more

I think I've seen every provider here (I'm not even sure which one I belong to) and they're all quite good. The nice thing is that even though I may not always see the same doctor, their electronic medical records help provide really good continuity of care. When my health insurance plan at work changed from PPO to HMO I had to find a new primary care physician in a hurry. I wanted to find a female doctor, but even if I hadn't limited the field in any way there were not many to choose from within a few miles of my home in Tenleytown. I bike everywhere I can and location is a factor for me. After some annoying calls and the realization that the Blue Cross physician list needs updating, I called Comprehensive Primary Care. I had an appointment within days with Dr. Asha Subramanian, who I wish I had met many years ago. She is warm and perceptive, listens to her patients, and brings a much-needed comprehensive approach to healthcare. When she heard that my cholesterol might be creeping up, she did not bully be to start taking lipitor, but instead gave me many good ideas for dietary changes, while suggesting that we check my cholesterol in three months to track the progress. She is responsible and caring. An additional high spot in my visit to this office was the staff behind the desk. Jenny is intelligent and hard-working and managed to find me a spur-of the moment appointment when I needed it. She sets a tone of friendly competence from the start. read more

Efficient office, very little wait time, doctor quickly and correctly diagnosed my foot problem, and they allowed me to essentially walk-in when I had to bring someone in with bronchitis. So, not sure if they de facto allow walk-ins, but I was able to come right in. Minimum parking cost is $5 in the deck, though, which kind of sucks if you are there for less than an hour. read more

I go here every year for my annual gynecological check up, and had previously gone to Dr. Cohen. She got the job done, but her bedside manner wasn't very pleasing to work with. This year, it was going to take me a few weeks to get in to see her, so I booked with Dr. Dinesh instead, and I must say that I'm much happier. She's friendlier, but still efficient. Most importantly, she paid attention to a side remark I made about a symptom that I didn't think was very serious and ordered blood tests that were not really related to my visit. Well, it turns out I have thyroid disease but can now be properly treated. I like that they have early hours- I can get visits out of the way without missing work. I haven't had any problems so far with booking or billing, everytime I call I get someone on the phone quickly. I also like having the online portal so that I can view my results. I am not sure how to rate this practice yet, but so far one huge pro and one huge con: Pro: I called over 30 doctors in Washington, D.C., and every one of them rejected me with the standard "we're not accepting new patients at this time" line. One office said they would only see new patients with HIV. Finally, a coworker who goes to CPC recommended the practice; she has been with them for years and likes her doctor. To my amazement, I got an appointment within a couple of days--which is good, because I'm having bizarre symptoms and I really needed to see a doctor. The doctor who saw me was patient and seemed to be listening and, rather than jump to conclusions, he ordered a ton of tests and left me with a reassuring "don't worry; we'll figure this out." Con: See "bizarre symptoms" above. My blood is being tested for everything, and I gave six vials of it (plus urine) at Quest a week ago yesterday. The Quest Diagnostics person (no patience for me whatsoever!) grunted that the results would be in in 3-4 days. I have been calling CPC for three days, and nobody has called me back. I've left two messages for the medical assistant and two for the receptionist. I'm really, really nervous/afraid of what my results could be, and there is literally no way to get through to a human being at the office other than dropping by. The phone number for the office serves the Rockville and Chevy Chase locations, and the only options on the phone direct patients to voice mail boxes. Dialing 0 just repeats the menu. So I am extremely grateful that this office accepted me as a new patient. The waiting room was literally standing room only when I was there, which I attribute to their willingness to see people, not disorganization. Maybe not being able to talk to anyone or find out my results on my own time are the price I'm paying for living in a crowded city with no available physicians, but it's absolute torture. :-( read more

I fasted for blood work at the new Cedar Lane office. When I arrived at 9:30 for a 9:45 appointment. The office was closed. I waited 30 minutes, tried to phone but the number rang without anyone answering. I finally learned that the office was closed since they had no power. There was no sign on the door and no one ever tried to contact me. This is close to mal practice and really inexcusable for a medical practice. I have been a patient at Comprehensive Primary Care for a couple of years now. The office is quiet and while not fancy, very nice. I've been impressed that I have always been able to get an appointment to see someone the same day when I am sick - which is not always that case in a practice. I've never had a long wait for my appointment, either, and the support staff are pleasant. The providers I've seen, Dr. Subramanian and Dr. Cohen, have both been thorough, knowledgeable, caring, and have taken their time in getting information about me and the problem that I'm having. I've always left feeling that I have received good medical care. If you don't want to pay for parking in the garage or try to find a meter you can go to the next street north of the office, make a left onto the residential street, and park there for two hours free. It's one long block from the office. read more

I'm going to go ahead and update this place to one star based on more frustrating experiences with Dr. Marpu and her staff. They NEVER return calls if you leave a message on the machine--even if it is urgent. Dr. Marpu left her computer on with patients' personal health info up yet again (so it wasn't just a one-time thing) and that is just inexcusable. She knew very little about a pretty common health condition that I was concerned about. She actually used her smartphone to Google it--something that I could've easily done myself if I did not have access to the DOCTOR sitting right in front of me. She does not respond to emails and said that my continued abnormal labs (three times one of my mineral levels was very low) were normal, but I wanted further testing because of my continued concern and she didn't even reply to my email. You can't reach her by phone, or email. Definitely not going back. read more

I have been a patient with this office over 5 years. I couldn't believe I called the office 3 days in a row complaining about a possible breast reoccurrence of cancer. I've been cancer free for 10 plus years. I left several messages on the nurses line, talked to two different people about getting a referral for emergency mammo. This office had not yet returned my calls nor have I received a referral. The NP that I thought I was cool with and knew me well enough to care and sore show some concern hasn't even returned my calls. The office is small and unprofessional. I can deal with that but not to even show concern was the last straw. They're fired! read more

The doctor is great, her staff not so great! I have been going there for 3 years and unfortunately I can never get my results after a checkup. They have a system where you can get your results online but the password never works and when you leave a voicemail message, no one ever gets back to you. Don't expect them to answer the phone when you call for your results cause its not going to happen. read more

I just moved here from the west coast and found them on the internet. I saw Dr Abbas who was friendly in the office, but he has been terrible about refilling my prescription for my thyroid medication. i called them on the 19th of Sept to request a refill and they called me back on the 20th telling me that Dr Abbas wants me to get a blood test first. i told them that i just had blood work in Seattle and then i had my doc fax them the results. i went to the pharmacy on the 28th and it was not filled. i called them on the 30th and left a message and have not heard back from them. this is awful patient care! i will never go back to them and will tell everyone i know how terrible their care is. now i have to scramble to find a new doc to refill my meds which runs out in 2 days. just terrible service. I've been here for a yearly checkup with Dr. Cohen, and several other visits with Dr. Shotashvili and Dr. Borelli. Dr. Cohen was pleasant, but she seemed busy. I'd recommend Dr. Shotashvili if you like someone who is extremely thorough. She was great on follow-up emails as well. Dr. Borelli was excellent with me when I went in for sinus infection.
