After reading great reviews online, we had super high expectations for this Spanish spot, and it did not disappoint! We first tried to drop by on Day 1, but the place was so crowded that we couldn't get a table. We made sure to book a reservation and returned for lunch the next day. The ambience here is amazing, and the service was top-notch. Our server was great and took the time to explain the menu details to us. We ordered a bunch of different items, and everything tasted pretty good. The paella was definitely the absolute highlight of the meal! While I wish the vegetables had been roasted just a bit more, the rice itself was extremely flavorful. The sautéed mushrooms and Brussels sprouts were another massive highlight--they are an absolute must-try from the menu. I've eaten here 3 times over the last couple of years when I'm in town for work and I can't say I was ever really happy for what I had. The restaurant is very inviting. There's plenty of tables and a long bar with ample seats. The service has been mostly good. The wine list is ample and the cocktail selection is massive. I haven't had a bad drink here. This most recent time, I ordered the 45 minute paella. I don't mind waiting with a glass of wine or cocktail for something that's a treat like paella. Sadly, when it came out it was disappointing. The seafood was cooked well but a little underseasoned. The rice was very bland. I'd chalk it up to someone having a bad night, but this is the second time I ordered the paella and was disappointed. Sad to say, there are enough better restaurants in Mac that I don't think I'll rush back here on my next trip to the area. read more

When in the area for work I stopped in one of my favorite restaurants in the NW. I made the happy hour which had many favorites including the fried artichoke hearts with aoili. They have been recognized by Food and Wine for their wine selection which includes some local favorites and beyond. I ate at the bar next to some locals and the tapas service was not rushed. Not only is the restaurant and bar done well, but there is also a loft you can rent upstairs for your wine country tour. read more

Why do I seem to locate the most delicious foods in Oregon? Not only did everything taste delicious and fresh cooked perfectly but across the street is the cutest grocery store that sells organic delicious food, drinks, and snack. Service was nice, for point price of food here, it would have been great if the server had asked if we wanted a refill on any of our drinks or if we needed anything else besides cleaning up our plates every chance they got when we were all still eating but resting between bites. I could loudly overheard the bartender and our server make a comment about my drink order. One other thing that was strange for us was how long it took someone to come over to get a drink order, while we looked over the menu. There were two servers and only two tables being occupied in the entire restaurant when we arrived since they had just opened. Towards the end of our dinner, the restaurant front manager came out. His name is Justin. Very nice person, asked how are meals and of everything was satisfactory for us. Now I could have mentioned the small little weird things but what mattered to me the most was spending time with my family. So maybe I might return or maybe not. Either way the restaurant itself was great! Food excellent but voicing your opinions regarding how people want their drinks or food when it is coming out of their own wallet should not be a topic for open discussion when the ordering person can hear the whole conversation. Justin please speak with your staff regarding timing. What is an appropriate length of time to allow guests to sit at a table. After watching two out of three servers walk past us so often I looked over at my spouse and wondered if we should find a different restaurant. So many layers, but thank you reader for sticking it out with me. Not sure why the little hiccup's happened but either way for a $217 bill and $30 tip service should have been better. Amazingly conceived and executed small plates. The scallops we tried recently were a standout. Lovely browned edges and just cooked inside, with a sauce that allowed them to shine. There were three of us on a Thursday early evening, and we sat at the bar. The gal who waited on us was kind and attentive. We enjoyed some of the happy hour options, including the house red Granache wine. All of the tapas we shared were very tasty. My friend's favorite were the fried oysters. La Rambla was a great stop for lunch on a day of wine tasting. Their portions are tapas friendly, so the idea is to order a lot of dishes so everyone can try them. As a local to the area, I always heard about how amazing la rambla was and it's good- but nothing really stood out to me that other places don't have. The ambiance was fine- everyone pretty much kept to themselves and the flow of workers was very hustle bustle. Their selections are interesting and everyone can definitely find something they will enjoy - the wine list is great! We ate here on a Tuesday night. We were able to walk in without a reservation but the place was pretty full. The space feels lively. There's a good selection of drinks and tapas. Everything we ate was great. Some favorites were the bacon wrapped dates, sauteed garlic chili shrimp, and sauteed mushrooms. The staff were friendly but service did seem a little slow. This place was great. Server was super friendly and attentive. I had reservations about what the food would be like since I have traveled to Spain on many occasions. But I was pleasantly surprised. They didn't try serve copy cat versions of something claiming to be authentic Spanish foods. They did things with their own interpretations, but they did it well. The croquetas were super crispy, creamy on the inside and piping hot. I liked the aioli on the plate as well. Patatas bravas were not served traditionally with a red paprika sauce and aioli. It had a fried egg on them (I thought didn't need, but the hubby loved and gobbled up). The potatoes were tossed in smoked paprika (not sauce) but it was surprisingly really good like this. You could taste the smoke in the paprika and it was super complimentary to the dish. The garlic shrimp (which I thought would be like gambas al ajillo) were not served in oil with gobs of garlic. When it came out I was disappointed to see it the way they served it. But boy was I wrong. The shrimp were cooked absolutely perfect and the garlic was just amazing. I have to say, kudos. It was really good. I ended up actually appreciating that it wasn't swimming in olive oil because it meant far less calories, lol. The sangria was good, the basque cheesecake was the only thing that was a bit of a let down. It was way over cooked that it ended up being American cheesecake without crust. And I feel like it had a hint of some spice in it (not quite sure what it was. Maybe cinnamon or allspice or something). It was faint that I couldn't place it, but basque cheesecake should have zero spices in it. Anyway it wasn't bad, but missed the mark for me. Came here for the first time during my birthday weekend this past Saturday because a friend really wanted me to try it. She made a 7:30 pm Saturday reservation and were seated right away in the spot she requested near the entrance overlooking the street. Credit where it's due: the hostess was lovely and welcoming. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Our waiter (the one with the female sounding name) came over almost immediately, brought menus, and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink yet. It felt rushed, so I asked for a sparkling water and said he could check back in a bit for the rest of the order and drinks. And then... nothing. We waited. And waited. And waited. By 8:00 pm, no one had come back to check on us -- no drink order, no acknowledgment. What made it worse was watching the waiter actively take orders from three other nearby tables, some of which we weren't even sure were seated before us. The real kicker came around 8:05 pm, when a table of three women who were seated at least 20 minutes after we were, and after we made very obvious eye contact (the kind you make when you're clearly being ignored), the waiter walked right past us and took their order instead. At that point, we still had: No drinks- but waters No food order taken No check-in since 7:30ish pm On a Saturday night, I understand things get busy -- but completely ignoring a table for 45 minutes, especially one there for a special occasion, is unacceptable. We didn't feel rushed... we felt forgotten. Disappointing experience, and not how you want to start a birthday weekend. Some friends and I popped in here one night after a new exhibit debuted at the Air and Space Museum. I'd never been before but my friends could not stop talking about it. We arrived between 7pm and 8pm on a Saturday night, and had reservations that we'd secured a few hours before. We were seated immediately. I have to admit, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I'd glanced through the menu a little bit online while we were in the car just to try to reduce surprises, and my friends warned me that it would likely be on the expensive side, but that it would be worth it. They were right on both counts. We started off with a round of drinks. I had an old fashioned that was devine to sip through most of our meal. I wanted to also try " The Bull" but I'll have to wait for our next visit. The food was unbelievable. We had pork belly that was cut thick like a steak, brussel sprouts with such an incredible sauce, my friends got some kind of seafood thing that I didn't try... but the absolute standout was the steak empanadas! So good, we got a second plate as our "dessert"! The service was overall very quick and attentive, and while the place is rather small/narrow, cleverly placed mirrors make the restaurant feel incredibly open. One of the most amazing and flavorful paellas I've ever had @ La Rambla Restaurant in McMinville! It's about an hour south of Portland and worth the drive! We got the seafood paella and it can be easily shared with 2-4 people. The other tapas we got tasted so authentic too! You have to get the sangria pitcher while you're here also! The fact that the service is always excellent and the food is always amazing makes this restaurant our number one "go to" place to eat for lunch or dinner! My husband and I agree, La Rambla and all the wait staff, and the amazing cooks are the best in our town of McMinnville. Everything on the menu is cooked to perfection. We always are amazed at the great quality and service. We love the all the tapas, especially the lamb nachos with Gorgonzola cheese, and the fresh spinach salad. Probably my best meal visiting Oregon. This place is in downtown McMinnville. It gets busy, so making reservations is a good idea and you can do that online. It feels like a real Spanish restaurant inside. I really like the croquettes and patatas bravas. Salad was good too and had a lot of cheese. My least favorite part was the jamon Serrano. Very disappointing experience. My husband and I went here for my birthday, first when making a reservation they ask if we are celebrating anything special and I indicated birthday, however that was not acknowledged the entire night, so why ask? Our server never touched our table while actively touching the tables around us 3-4 times. We had to track him down for drinks after clearly finishing our first round and placing them at the end of the table, while walking past our table several times and looking at us. Our food took 40ish minutes, it was decent. My husband got the steak and I got flatbread. We asked for our check right away and it took our server 15 minutes to bring my husband's card back .. after walking past our table several times. The last time we were here, we came for some tapas and wine before dinner, which was nice, but made it a goal to come back for the paella. I'm glad to report we finally tried it in our latest visit to La Rambla. I recommend making reservations for La Rambla Restaurant & Bar because it fills up, especially on the weekend. My partner and I made a reservation for a late lunch on a Sunday, which we were able to get when making a reservation the day before. However, dinner was completely booked. Late lunch it is! The restaurant has a lively vibe to it, with cool lighting features and dark accents, like what you'd find in a Spanish bar. The bar had a giant jug of sangria, which is their most popular drink here. We ordered a glass of that with our paella. They also have patio seating. The paella takes about 45 minutes to prepare, so plan accordingly. When we visited we weren't too hungry, but by the time the paella came, we ate every last bite. We enjoyed it, and it was a good size for two people, especially with all the different proteins it comes with - pork, shredded chicken, mussels, clams, shrimp and chorizo. Delicious! I was a fan. But it should be noted that the menu has a good assortment of tapas to share and larger plates. Plus, the dessert offerings include basque cheesecake, which is one of my favorite desserts! I would've ordered it had we not had plans afterwards. La Rambla is a great place to check out, especially with a group, so you can truly share the tapas around the table and order most everything! On Jan 31st, I brought my friend in for a 6:45 reservation for her birthday dinner. La Rambla is one of my favorite restaurants, my husband and I have made it a destination several times to enjoy the paella! For my friend's birthday (who has never been to the restaurant) I rented a room at Hotel Oregon just so we could enjoy a ton of good food and Spanish wines and not drive home. We were seated promptly at 6:45 and brought our water. My friend was wished a happy birthday by the hostess and we were given the window seat I had requested. Our server Kelly then came up to us immediately with our menus and said "we are out of the chicken, there are no specials, do you know what you want?" We said we hadn't had a chance to look at the drink menu, so please check back with us in one sec. We decided on our wine quickly and knew we wanted to get the paella in immediately since it takes a while. This was still all before 6:50. At 7:30 we decided to leave. When I went up to the bar to say we were leaving, the bartender offered to take over our table, but at that point it was too late to put in a ton of apps and wait for paella and have a long relaxing dinner. 45 minutes and not even a drink order taken. Our server had walked near us and around us and never looked our way again, let alone come back regardless of how hard we tried to smile and get his attention. He took several drink and food orders of tables seated after us, long after us. It went from ridiculous to hurtful, were we invisible? Zero effort made to help us or let us know he remembered we were there. I emailed them about our experience on Feb 1st and re-sent it on Feb 11th asking what could be done to rectify the situation. I had hoped they would make good on it, which they could have so easily sent something for their waste of our time and resources that evening. I had hoped that any kind gesture could be passed along to my friend for her to use in the future to see what I have always loved about the place, and to not leave a bad taste in my mouth so that my husband and I could return someday. It is apparent that they don't care as they have never responded to my emails and I see in these reviews they respond to the hits, but not the misses. This is truly a tapas restaurant, so my wife and I shared each dish. Started with a nice green salad. Then the delicious lamb skewers. Then the best, the mushroom flatbread. I don't think you can describe the food other than delicious. Favorite restaurant when we go wine tasting in the area. My one complaint is the noise. It is loud and the noise bounces everywhere. Really loud. If you have any auditory problems skip eating inside. It was cold, but we are at one of their two outdoor tables. We will eat here anytime we can get an outside table. Our family had the absolutely BEST time here yesterday. We came for a late lunch/early dinner after wine tasting nearby. We were so excited to check it out and it lived up 100% to our expectations! Our server was fun, friendly and knew the menu so well (younger, beautiful blonde lady). She helped make our experience so special. We tried the coffee dusted steak, sautéed mushrooms, piquillo peppers, raw oysters, pork croquetas, bacon dates, brussel sprouts, garlic shrimp, basque cheesecake and a sorbet for dessert.
