My wife and I took an overnight trip to Mcminnville area and I searched for somewhere nice that we could eat. I came upon Cypress and although the menu seemed limited at first, their options were all intriguing. We set a reservation for 5:30 on a Saturday. When we walked in there was only one older gentleman in the whole place so we were greeted promptly and sat immediately. I was wondering that since no one was there, that I perhaps made a mistake. That was NOT the case. Plants lined the ceiling and the bar and made the space beautiful and inviting. Very nice ambiance! We started with a special appitizer, Halloumi cheese and sweet potatoes. Oh man, absolutely incredible flavor and texture. That season and sauce on these were spectacular. If they are offer this, get it! We then had their seasonal salad which also was fantastic! Light and flavorful and we ate every bite. She got the salmon and I got the short rib and a side of brussel sprouts to share. All were incredible. The flavor experience here is off the charts. We kept saying how amazing the meal was all throughout the evening. I had 2 old fashions and my beauty had 2 paper planes. Both cocktails were far above average. They were excellent! You can't have a great overall experience without a fantastic server. Harmony was amazing! She checked in on us regularly ensuring everything was good and filling our waters. We had another fantastic lunch at Cypress today. We ordered the lamb gyro and the Mediterranean burger--both were perfectly cooked and really flavorful. Service was attentive and friendly without being over the top (if you know, you know). The restaurant is clean and has an airy, welcoming feel, especially with all the foliage throughout. Ended up coming here for lunch. When we arrived we were the only ones there but it did eventually fill up. Really cute atmosphere. We started with the mezza plate. The labneh was gold. Don't see it on too many plates but I don't get why not. Yummy hummus. Nice silky texture and good flavor. Definitely tops. Dolmas were good. The innards were a little soft but it didn't taste like can. So that's a plus. We got the falafel. I like the texture. Not too soft. A little crispiness. I like the surface area ratio. The only bummer was the lamb kebab. Over cooked and pretty tough. Regretting ordering it. The carrots were awesome. A must order. Once we had finished them. We wanted to like Cypress, but, boy, they couldn't get out of their own way. We had a reservation (for four adults) which we confirmed earlier that day from their text prompt. We arrived on time, and they shared that they didn't have our table ready. They invited us to sit in their waiting area (the lobby of the hotel they're attached to) while our table was becoming free. They offered to get us drinks from the bar while we waited and that alone took 20 minutes. Five minutes later (25 minutes AFTER our reservation time), we were brought to our table. Needless to say, we were disappointed. We were put at a high top table on a side shoot of the restaurant. Not only was it next to their bar service station, but also next to the self-service fridge for anyone to access. Our server then rushed us and became borderline pushy as we ordered various plates (there was no request we put our order in all at once or that we had a designated time duration at our table). We got the halloumi special (smaller portion than expected), olives (came out warm which was a nice touch), and lamb and chicken kebobs (one each; the chicken was super dry). We forwent the dessert since we felt nothing was drastically going to improve. All in all, not a great meal or experience which was a big bummer. read more

We dined early on a Sunday evening (holiday weekend) and got seated at the bar which has comfortable chairs. We had an incredible meal here! We came in on a quiet Tuesday evening. We made reservations, which is a good idea because it's not a large space. The space itself is gorgeous! The chicken kebab were so moist and juicy. They were beautiful with some warm fluffy pita bread. Every single thing we ate was delicious! Also kind of an odd shawarma, I usually think of wraps as having thinner lavash style bread. This was a pita folded in half like a taco with fillings. It is in the Atticus Hotel and the ambiance is clean and spartan. A bar with 8 seats is in the dining area which has about table 10 tables most of which are by the windows overlooking the sidewalk. It is touted as Mediterranean but to us it seemed more middle eastern. We got the lamb with hummus and a few pitas. Then a couscous and a salad. They were very good and we realized after we ordered Lamb chops as our next course that we were getting full quickly. By this time the place was getting crowded. The drink list was well balanced and affordable. I love gin so I ordered Roses Are Free. It had Lewis and Clark gin, Aperol, rose syrup, grapefruit, lemon, Prosecco and garnished with a rose bud, served up in a coupe Gorgeous drink, delicious and very easy to drink. The chicken shawarma was amazing: The pita was fluffy and warm, the chicken was tender, the greens were crunchy, and both the feta and the yogurt sauce were cool and tangy. Combined, they made for a delicious, yet light, lunch. The fries were also great. They were nicely salted, and I'm pretty sure their ketchup was homemade. The mint cucumber lemonade was very refreshing. Neither flavor overpowered the other, and it was sweet while also being tart.
