A part of Cleveland State University, you can easily see the window display from Euclid Avenue, but don't be deceived. While the doors look locked, you can absolutely enter. This gallery simply shares a door with other businesses located in their building. If it's locked, feel free to buzz, and one of the friendly gallery assistants will let you in. The Galleries consistently hosts some of the most innovative and internationally recognized artists. If anything, you must, at a minimum, stop by for the annual People's Art Show. The People's Art Show is a free, unjuried, uncensored exhibition celebrating creativity, diversity, and imagination. Any artist can contribute, and any person can purchase a piece of artwork directly off the wall. The amount of ingenuity, perspective and originality that sprawls from this exhibit is utterly fascinating. Regardless of the exhibition, you can spend a solid 1-2 hours exploring through this robust gallery. Once you enter, it's surprising how much quality art there is to absorb. The gallery starts in one open room, weaves through a narrow hallway, and expansively opens into another high-ceiling showroom. Take the time to wander, ask questions, and soak in the talent represented in this gallery!

With this being said, I was really disappointed with this unusual shop. I had been eying this Indian style cabinet displayed in the front window for months & finally stopped in to see what this charming shop had to offer. Don't get me wrong, there are some really cool ideas that from what I've seen on their facebook page, you can sign up for classes & make yourself. And there are some truly stunning antique pieces available for any collector. In fact, I really like the idea of this concept, however, not only did the slightly overpriced inventory get me but the overall store setup & true purpose. It's not really a furniture store in my eyes but more of a chalk paint store only. It was kind of a shame to see some actual solid oak & cherry wood antiques ruined by chalk paint. The prices for the workshops are average for this area, roughly $55.00 plus tax. This shop would be a good idea if you enjoyed things like "Painting with a Twists" or are exploring new hobbies (there's NOTHING fun to do in Mantua!)... sorry, just not what I'd call a true furniture shop.

The Ukrainian Museum in the historic Ukrainian Village of Cleveland bares testimony to the strong…read moreinfluence of the Ukrainian diaspora in Cleveland and the United States. Significant museum holdings document the life and development of Ukrainian immigrants and their contributions to America, as well as ongoing worldwide developments in the present day. Of particular interest to many will be the extensive catalog collection of Ukrainian Pysanky eggs, which are categorized by region of Ukraine. Each region having distinctive decorative differentiations that relate to local customs, traditions, familial and belief structures. Housed in a separate building to the rear of the main museum, which is a house, is a meeting facility where lectures and presentations are frequently given. Ukrainian community meetings are also held here. This building houses collections of Ukrainian artwork, and an extensive historic library of books by Ukrainian authors, historic Ukrainian language, newspapers, and other publications from both Ukraine and United States. In a slow but steady manner, this collection is in the midst of a digitization process. The holdings are extensive, and so I would expect that this will take a significant amount of time and resource to accomplish. A gift shop is operated which contains a variety of cultural items, pysanky egg making supplies, books, and literature, jewelry, and clothing. There is a large historic park just across the street from the museum. Many historic buildings are in the neighborhood and it is worth some time to drive or walk around to have a look at them. This will give visitors a great feel for what being a member of the Ukrainian community has been like historically.

As in, the amiable team of volunteers and live-in caretaker who maintain this historic gem and its picturesque gardens. I first came to know of the Dunhan Tavern when my then-fiance and I were on the hunt for an intimate, low-key wedding locale, my father - the all-time Cleveland denizen - suggested it to me. After jumping through hoops with other, more conventional wedding venues, we visited the Dunham Tavern and the process of booking our wedding was as simple as placing a nominal deposit and picking any one of dozens of available days. That was it. If you love local history, beautiful gardens, and low-key party venues, give the Dunham Tavern a look. I think that you will be pleased and surprised!

We were immediately greeted by a gentleman at the door who explained the whole process step by step since this was our first time. He was very helpful all around and checked on us periodically. I was skeptical coming here, but we had no issues with the staff, we had a great time, picked out our next pieces to do, and look forward to coming again soon.
