From the beginning, I repeatedly requested to see the physician, Dr. Perez, for my primary care concerns. Despite multiple requests over several years, I was consistently scheduled with the Jen the PA instead UNLESS I wanted to invest in aesthetics treatments. Yah it's Scottsdale, but I'm here for my health, not my appearance. While I understand the role of physician assistants, I specifically wanted physician involvement in my care and was never able to obtain it. (I still don't have answers from last summer's outstanding health issue because they truly don't care about their patients health). I also experienced ongoing communication and billing issues with the extremely rude front staff. On more than one occasion, I was told coding corrections would be submitted to insurance and that I would receive updated itemized invoices. The invoices never arrived. When I called for updates, my voicemails frequently went unanswered. I later learned that at least one bill had been sent to an incorrect address. My final experience was the most concerning. I had recently recovered from Influenza B and was suffering from what was later believed to be Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. I was in significant pain and visibly ill during my visit. As I was leaving, I was aggressively confronted about an outstanding $100 bill that I had previously called about and requested information on. When I attempted to explain that I had already been trying to resolve the billing issue, I was repeatedly interrupted, dismissed, and treated with hostility rather than professionalism and empathy. The girl rolled her eyes at me, shook her snubby pony tail at me looked like she wanted to hit me. I told her to just email me the itemized invoice and I'll pay it when I get home. That invoice also had an incorrect address on it. Go figure. The competence here is real high as you can see After sending a message through the patient portal about my experience to Jen, I finally received the first and only message from Dr. Perez himself. Unfortunately, instead of addressing the communication and billing concerns I raised, I was told that I seemed to "have a problem paying my bills" and was informed that I should seek care elsewhere. This was particularly surprising given that I have always paid my balances and had repeatedly attempted to obtain clarification before paying invoices that I had not received. It's not about the $100 invoice. I make way more than that by posting a 20 second tik tok, and I spend way more than that in 5 minutes on a round of drinks for friends. It's not the price, it's the principle. Healthcare is about more than diagnoses and referrals. It is also about communication, respect, and patient advocacy. In my experience, those areas were severely lacking here. I have since transferred my care to another physician and have received a level of attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism that confirms my concerns about my experience at this practice. I never even received a Dr's report from that appointment. I'm guessing because the Dr didn't want to put in writing what never took place. My PC goes over everything and makes sure you're well taken care of. They even give you a summary of your visit with all tests results, vitals and everything that was discussed with your PC. They provide free transportation to and from the office if you have no way of getting there or don't feel like driving. They always make a follow up call to see how you're doing after your visit. They also have a 24/7 hotline if you need a Dr after hours or have questions. I've never been treated so well at a Dr office in my entire life. I would recommend OSH over Desert Ridge any day of the week.

As our family grows we will continue to bring them to see her because I feel an undeniable amount of trust in Dr. O'Connor and her ability to take care of our family. She has never led us astray and has tackled all of our medical issues quickly and efficiently. I'm a generally healthy person with no complaints who is on a couple long-term maintenance medications for stable conditions. Not only did they require multiple appointments for simple prescription refills, but they then coded these visits as high-complexity - despite the fact that I didn't request them, I had no complaints, and all I needed was a prescription refill (for frame of reference, my previous provider wrote 12-month prescriptions for the same meds). I was billed $176 for each of the virtual prescription refill appointments. My final appointment there before I called it quits was a 15-minute virtual appointment (again, that the provider requested, not me) where ALL I NEEDED was a refill. The provider herself actually coded it correctly, and the billing team overrode the provider and change the appointment to the high-complexity code. I have worked in medical billing, and these appointments do not meet the requirements of a high-complexity code. They will bill EVERYTHING as high-complexity. So if you're someone with a high-deducible plan, this is NOT the practice for you. (Sidenote - they also admitted to me that their self-pay prices are actually LOWER than my contracted rate with insurance, but they would not give me the self-pay price). I went back and forth with their billing team, telling them I'd be happy to pay the bill when it was the correct amount. They stopped responding to me in February 2025. Today I got a letter from collections. I'm petty so I'll be fighting this until the bitter end and making sure that by the time this is over, they'll have spent more than $176 on collections and paying their billing team to argue with me, but I recommend saving yourself the hassle and just avoiding this practice altogether. (Also I can't wait for the part where I get their auto response to this review telling me how concerned they are and to reach out to discuss. I've already done that multiple times and no one there cares to remedy this situation!)

Dr. Jones is a fantastic physician--attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely cares about his patients. Unfortunately, the rest of the operation has completely fallen apart over the past year, and the experience no longer reflects the high standard of care that once defined this office. The administrative side has become a mess. On multiple occasions, I've arrived for appointments--lab visits and provider visits alike--only to find that staff weren't even on site. No phone call or text to notify me that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. This has happened three times in six months. Between taking time off work, arranging childcare, and driving across town, it's incredibly frustrating and a huge waste of time. What used to feel like a concierge-level practice now feels like an afterthought. The lack of respect for patients' time and the repeated scheduling failures make it impossible to rely on this office for consistent care. I don't know if it's a management issue or fallout from the Amazon acquisition, but either way, this location no longer delivers the quality or professionalism that patients deserve. **update: you will see response below from OneMedical. In the last year or so, though, the care we've received has gone downhill fast, mostly due to the new NP's my wife and I have both seen. The previous doc, PA, and NP at Prevene we saw were all knowledgeable but also took the time to listen and do a proper assessment. More often than not, they also thought through root cause possibilities rather than simply looking for a band-aid to slap on via meds or overly simplistic advice. Our last few appointments with the new staff was full of interruptions and more talking than listening, telling me the same thing you could find online or in a book. We'll be looking for somewhere new.
