This review is long overdue. I was looking back at my wedding photos from a year ago when I realized that I never gave credit where credit is due -- I didn't write a review for Frank! If you don't feel like reading my whole spiel, here's the gist: hire Frank. So I know my way around a camera. I like to practice photography, mainly portrait photography, as a hobby. So when I was looking for a photographer for my wedding, I didn't want someone whose photos looked like something I could easily take. I was so picky about who to go with, that I ended up pushing the decision further and further away until the wedding was about 2 months away. When I reached out to Frank, I was beyond ecstatic that he was available. He was friendly, professional, and really seemed invested in making sure that our wedding would be documented in a way that is unique to us. Frank is not only a professional photographer, he is an artist. Our photos are so beautiful. A great photographer for your wedding is something you really want to invest in. I'm so glad we chose the right person for the job. Well after the event, Frank maintained communication on when our "teaser photos" and full photos would be ready, and we received them within the time frame of our contract. Frank Amodo is amazing! We've used Frank for 2 separate occasions. Once was for our wedding in Ko Olina on May 2013 and then again on May 2014 for our wedding anniversary photos in the North Shore. It was a pleasure working with Frank on both occasions. He makes you feel super relax and has some amazing ideas for photos shoots. Our photos turned out amazing on both occasions. I couldnt ask for better. He is the BEST. Frank is AMAZING he is also really friendly. I got married in october 2015 and I thought that I came to a point where I should just give up and hire an amateur photographer because i did not have one a couple months before our wedding. Everyone was booked up or way to expensive and all there work looked the same. One day I was working and I was depressed because I knew that all I would have is "phone " pictures and a co worker had recommended Frank. I didnt get my hopes up because looking at his website and work I already knew he was booked. i emailed him anyway. Not even a day after I open up my email and FRANK REPLIED I told him that the wedding was like really soon and he told me that he would check but he was pretty sure he was opened.. i was BEYOND blessed because the next message was us setting up a date to meet Frank. Frank was very professional and fun and he made sure to give us a variety of his packages and he helped choose what he thought would best fit our budget as well as the time frame we needed him Day before the wedding - Frank confirmed everything to make sure he would be at the wedding promptly Wedding day- I was BEYOND STRESSED I could hear my family members running around trying to get things done. Frank was there taking pictures of all of us getting ready and even took snap shots of my daughter (She was really sick the day of and he captured her during her best moments and for that I thank him because she was unable to take the group photos due to her illness at the time...shes better now). He was also calming me down because I was so worried SOMETHING would go wrong. After I had my dress on we had a mini photoshoot of the dress and accessories and seriously captured EVERY MOMENT. Vows - Frank captured the most important part of the wedding and it is truly a Kodak moment. I just really like the perspective on all the photos. Reception - Frank once again was all over the place and had his millions of cameras snapping the whole reception and got some shots that was amazing of our lion dance. He even gathered the whole family and took pictures of all of us. He even took mini family photos of my brides maid and our best man's family (he didn't have to but he did!) AFTER the reception - We took our wedding photos AFTER our wedding and our initial mission was to go to the temple in Lay and take all our photos there in front of the temple (simple right). NOPE! Frank had us cover every square inch of the temple grounds. From the temple itself, to the stairs, garden, fountains and even the WALLS AND GATES lol he didn't make it awkward he made it so fun, we felt like models and it brought us together because we would stay in certain poses for a period of time while he took a picture at every angle. I was worried because some photos had people in the background but he assured me it would be ok because his great at what he does lol. Receiving the photos - LITERALLY THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE. Frank has a longer wait time because he has so many weddings that he does that you do begin to become anxious. He got sick during our photo delivery time which ended up in a longer wait but he was more than courteous to let us know what was happening and even offered us services in the future. The wait is a long one BUT it's BEYOND WORTH IT. You can tell that he takes his time and a whole ton of effort to make every single photo something magical. By the way all the photos I "thought" had a tourist in the back ground were not even there. Franks pictures makes it look like we were the ONLY ones at the temple that day. Overall Frank was our blessing and he stayed with us from 7 in the morning to 8 at night. Not once did he complain or argue with us. Not once did he make us feel uncomfortable. He felt like family and everyone loved him and was ready to jump in front of his cameras. We can't thank him enough for making our wedding day AMAZING. We didn't have the most beautiful venue and we didn't get married in an expensive chapel. I was bummed that it wasn't at a fancier place like Koolin or an expensive hotel. We just didn't have the finances for it. Infect we got married at our church and had our reception in the churches gym ...but let me tell you this That day Frank turned everything we walked on/in/toward/away from into the most beautiful place we've ever been and that's truly talent. There's just so much I'd love to say about Frank that I don't even know where to start. Excuse my random thoughts, I'm just going to jot them down as they come to me. -We *heart* Frank. He was our favorite wedding vendor. Down-to-earth, friendly, funny, helpful, and talented. Incredibly talented. -I love our wedding pictures. We got some obscene number of photos on 4 dvds, an album full of proof prints of the images he hand selected and post-processed and multiple dvd copies of a photo slideshow he put together. -I don't know how he manages to juggle his busy schedule and stay sane but he seems to be doing it very well. I've received replies to emails at 2 in the morning from him, because he's still up working on photos. -He woke up extra early in order to be at our wedding venue by 7 a.m. Now that's true dedication, lol. -My husband and I are very into photography so we were EXTRA picky when it came to choosing a wedding photographer. We didn't want cheese but we also didn't want to have to sacrifice any body organs to afford a good photographer. Frank was surprisingly more affordable than I thought he'd be. I was actually scared to contact him because I had already convinced myself that he was beyond what we could afford. Frank was also willing to customize a package to meet our needs. -Did I say that we *heart* Frank? We're 100% happy with our decision to hire Frank. =) read more

Frank was our wedding photographer. Let me preface this review by saying that my wife was in charge of selecting the wedding photographer, as she has a much better eye for good photographers and what makes a great picture. On a scouting trip back to Hawaii, we met with Frank along with a couple of other photographers. I had a couple of criteria in mind when selecting our photographer: 1. It had to meet our budget (which wasn't cheap, but at the same time was by no means unlimited) 2. My wife had to like his style 3. (Most important to me) they had to be able to "blend" with our family and friends, and be able to make everyone comfortable enough to pose for a picture, from my 2 year old cousin to my 90 year old grandmother, and everyone in between Needless to say Frank met all 3 of the criteria and we went with him. Ironically he was the only photographer we actually met with (the other one we had scheduled bailed at the last minute) but honestly he was the only one we needed to meet with. He was willing to work with us and what style we wanted for our pictures, which I really appreciated. Wedding planning is stressful enough as it is, and the last thing I needed was the person I'm paying telling me how I want my pictures taken. We did 2 sessions with Frank; a 6 hour session for our wedding and a 2 hour shoot for post wedding pictures (instead of an engagement session). For both, Frank was prompt and professional. He was also very well prepared on our wedding day, having already mapped out what shots he wanted before hand. We really appreciated this, as it minimized the transition times between shots and allowed us to spend more time with our guests. We were really happy with the results overall, and would recommend him to anyone in the future. I was looking for a wedding photographer since we were having a destination wedding in Hawaii. I was researching wedding photographers online and ran into - amodophoto. I thought the name was really clever! Then I saw his work and fell in love with the beautiful pictures~ I'm happy to say that we made the right choice by having Frank capture the most important day of our lives. His work is stunning and it's awesome he was able to do that since we're the most non-photogenic people on earth! He can make you look good!! In addition, he is extremely friendly and down to earth. What I'll remember most about Frank are his little gestures that really made a difference on our big day. For instance, after the wedding ceremony, he was nice enough to get me a glass of water after I had been crying my eyes out at the alter. Frank is not only a wonderful photographer, but he is also a great guy! He's down-to-earth, so friendly and really made us feel comfortable while being photographed on our special day. Even people outside of our wedding party took notice and told us how nice of a photographer he was. At one point, I even witnessed him OFFER to take a group photo.. with THEIR camera! He was very good about communicating with us before the wedding, and was very quick in reply via email! Even during the weeks leading up to the wedding, he was such a good resource. Talking with him about the shots we wanted actually really helped me in planning out the wedding day details and the final schedule/program. Frank and his second shooter, Jeremy (also awesome!) made really good use of the beautiful green scenery and the backdrop of the Ko'Olau range, from many different angles. Everyone so far has been really impressed with our wedding photos and a friend of mine even said that they could be postcard shots or photos you see in wedding mags! He was also very skillful in capturing the joy and emotion that was felt that day. Looking at our photos brings me back to that happy day, as though I'm reliving it. Being able to take beautiful photos is one thing, but having the ability to transport one back in time through photography, is just magic. Frank did this effortlessly, and this is how I know that he is truly an expert in his craft. Frank recently contacted me to say that he would be posting some of our photos to his blog, which I'm thrilled about! We had the privilege of having Frank shoot our wedding a couple of weeks ago. We cannot say enough good things about him. From initially reaching out to him about his services, he is very responsive, professional, and just a very kind man. He put us at ease right away even though we felt a little awkward getting our photos taken so much. He was very flexible with our timeline and made our entire wedding day so much fun. He showed us some of the photos just on his camera while he was taking them and we were blown away. I can not say enough good things about Frank! From the moment I contacted him for info he was responsive and very kind. My family and I were going to Oahu for vacation. My daughter and husband's first time in Oahu. I wanted memories from our vacation. I was not disappointed in my choice. Frank was always prompt in answering my emails and questions I had. The location we shot at was absolutely stunning! Our pictures looked like we were placed on there from a green screen. I showed my friends and they could not believe the images. We were able to get pics during sunlight and sunset pics. I would use Frank again in a heartbeat. He is absolutely amazing and so friendly. Frank is so ridiculously talented! What I love most about him is how personable he is. From the day we had our Skype meet and greet, to the day of our wedding, he was truly so nice and really patient. I felt bad that we were running late but he was still so accommodating. Let me start off by saying that Frank is a nice guy and was pleasant to work with. He is obviously very talented which is why we decided to go with him for our wedding (July 2009). Overall, we liked our pictures but the problem is that we wanted to love them. We were expecting our pictures to be more like the ones on his blog but they were mostly standard wedding pictures and poses. There were a few artsy ones (a couple of shots by the beach and one by a beautiful, large tree) but the majority were ones nothing out of the ordinary. Also our package came with a personal online wedding trailer but he did not offer any information on it until we asked (4 months after the wedding). If I had to give a potential client some tips, it would be: 1). Hire him in an off-peak time because summers are very busy for him and you could get lost in the shuffle. The wait time on your pictures may also be longer than 3 months. 2.) Be very specific with what you want and ask for lots of direction. My husband and I are not used to taking professional pictures and would have liked a bit more direction on body position and facial expression. We would have also liked a few more pictures during the reception. 3.) Frank is a solid photographer but he's probably naturally more inspired by some couples and venues than others. You'll get good pictures but they might not be like the ones on his blog or in the magazines. I'm guessing Frank does a lot more events than the ones he posts on his blog because our wedding did not make it onto it. I will say that a huge pro for us was that Frank gives you co-ownership of all the pictures he takes. He's also just a really nice guy which makes him easy to work with (a big plus since you don't need any other sources of stress on your wedding day). We were also very happy with the pictures of the actual ceremony. update: I stand behind my review and think that it is an accurate reflection of my individual experience. I want to respond to Chasity B. who should refrain from calling people out unless she has all the facts. -Fact: I had a very flexible time line and went with his recommendations on when we should begin taking pictures. Also, our venues were not actually far from each other at all. We took the pictures at Kapiolani Park (his suggestion), the ceremony was by Diamond Head, and the reception was in Waikiki. -Fact: It is indeed possible for someone to have had a different experience from someone else. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way because I have gotten a couple of messages telling me that they agreed with me. -Fact: My review was not a bad one. According to Yelp, three stars is A-OK and above average. As I said in my review, we liked our pictures and Frank is a nice, talented guy. At the same time, I did not think it was a five star experience for the reasons I mentioned in my review. Lastly I did want to mention that shortly after I posted my review, I received an email from Frank wishing my husband and I a Happy Anniversary and letting us know that he was going to post some of our images on his blog. I appreciated his email and true to his word, the pictures are on his blog. It adds to my belief that Frank is good guy who cares a lot about making his clients happy on their special day (and even afterwards). read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Frank is literally the BEST. We met with a few photographers but once we met with Frank, there was no question who we wanted to go with. I'll get right to the point: HIRE FRANK. I promise, you will be so thankful that you did! Working with Frank has been nothing short of amazing from the moment we met him. The photos! I opted not to get a videoagrapher for my reception simply because I knew that Franks work alone will be enough to bring me back to the memories of our wedding. Ah...my husband was in love with Frank's work because it was very close in style to a photographer back on the mainland. We immediately contacted Frank and he was quite prompt and professional with emails. Like everyone on here says, "Frank is down to earth, friendly, super nice, talented and you just simply feel comfortable around or with him". This is all true. Now, I would love to give him 5 stars, except my husband was disappointed with his quality of work. I should preface by saying my husband has a VERY keen eye especially when it comes to clarity and clean shots. He's the type to notice the smallest and tiniest nick on your car or a dead pixel in your flat screen tv. So...it took quite a while to get our pictures back from Frank. In fact, I followed up with Frank just to ensure we were on schedule according to our contract. He confirmed that it was on schedule but honestly the finished product delivered a tad later than the promised complete date. Either way no biggie, we got our pictures, yay! Here is the main issue. As we uploaded the pictures for viewing, we both can tell that the post processing was rushed and was not done with care. Photoshop would have fixed this if done with care and time. Flaws that we saw were bits of the camera stand in the photo still, hubby's head was photo shopped but it was lopsided, white specs in the bm dresses when they shouldnt be there, Frank's camera lens was dirty amongst other things. Hubby was really disappointed since he had high expectations. While Frank had a lot going on--- its quite understandable, but if you are delivering a service where your reputation matters quite a bit, wouldnt you always want to produce high quality work? Overall, we still think highly of Frank. He post processed more than what he originally agreed to on the contract which we truly appreciate. However, if he could spend a bit more time and care on the post processing and turning the pictures around sooner rather than later that would make him awesome to the infinity! read more

My husband and I got married in Vegas so we didn't have the opportunity to work with him for our actually wedding day. We did, however, do a family photo shoot with him. If you are looking for a talented photographer who takes beautiful pictures and is a great person, Frank is the guy! My husband and I found him in 2007 for our engagement pictures. He later did our wedding in 2008, maternity pictures in 2010, newborn pictures in 2012 and our family pictures in 2012 & in 2013. We fell in love with his photography because of his unique way of capturing the moment. Our pictures always came out the way we wanted and more! This review is WAY overdue! After we got married, my husband and I decided to do a "trash the dress" shoot exactly a month after our wedding. Frank is so easy-going and personable- even those who are camera-shy would feel at ease instantly. We told Frank we were down for anything so by the end of the photo shoot, my wedding dress, hair, veil, my husband's suit... we were DRENCHED in sea water but the images Frank captured are all breathtaking. Frank truly has a natural talent for photography; the way he shoots, you wouldn't even think he's checking any angles or lighting. The depth and contrast he creates is really beautiful and not only do the people in his pictures look wonderful, he really pulls in the scenery to complete the piece as well. My sister-in-law loved our pictures so much that she did a family shoot with Frank. He has three little kids so he is great with children as well. My brother and his wife will be visiting Hawaii later this year and I plan on booking Frank for them. We couldn't rave enough about his work and professionalism! read more

Frank is amazing. Period. I expected to get nice pictures, but we received pictures that honestly blew us away. It was ironic because the original photos we received were the unedited pictures, but Frank's photography skills are so amazing that we thought they WERE edited!
