Frank's team catered our son's graduation party. Frank scoped out our yard ahead of time to ensure they could pull in & set up. Strangely I did not even ask about what pizzas would be provided. Let me tell you, they do not disappoint. There were at least 10 different and creative pies that kept coming out nonstop, leaving our guests amazed & fully satisfied. I can't tell you which was the favorite, they were all so good. The finishing touch was a delicious tiramisu Max made. My husband myself & some friends attended Max and his wife's pizza dough making class in Wallingford and we were blown away. Such great technique, patient with everyone, answered so many questions, we all got the recipe to go home and some dough. We enjoyed pizzas (the pear Gorgonzola was amazing!) and good conversation. Fire Andrews Mobile Kitchen is an artisanal wood-fired pizza truck based in Clinton, Connecticut that has been running since 2011. It was founded by father and son Frank Andrews and Max DeMusis. Frank worked as an AT&T customer service and sales representative for 25 years, but in 2009 he found himself as a victim of corporate downsizing. He had enjoyed cooking and catering as a hobby for several years, and now he decided to pursue it as passionate new career. He began crafting pizzas and calzones from his self-made wood-fired oven. Each pie is made using local farm fresh ingredients. Max also assisted him throughout the beginning stages of the pizza-making venture. After several friends and private customers sampled their culinary offerings, they urged the duo to go into business and serve wood-fired pizza to the public. They started off with a vending food cart and served pizza as a street food. When the business took off, the duo were able to secure a mobile pizza oven. Today they have two mobile ovens and a third enclosed unit for year round use. Max traveled to Italy in 2013 to study and also ended up working in kitchens throughout the Campania and Lombardy regions. He would return to the States with an expanded knowledge and passion for the Italian culinary arts. Today the pizza truck can be found at various farmers' markets, breweries, wineries, festivals and private functions throughout Southern Connecticut. I recently sampled some of Frank Andrews' pizza at the 2023 Closer To Free Ride. I had just cycled the 65-mile route and there is always a nice collection of food trucks at the post-ride festivities. The pizza truck was one of the food trucks that day; I had previously sampled their pizza at the 2019 CTF Ride. The one pizza that I was really looking forward to was their specialty: "The Pear Pizza" (white with poached pear, gorgonzola, smoked bacon, mozzarella, drizzled with local honey). I think that this combo is absolutely delicious! I think the concept of putting apples and/or pears on pizza is a brilliant one and it's clearly underused. I wished that more pizzaioli experimented with apples and pears because they make a great Autumn-inspired pie. I can't wait to try Frank Andrews' pizza again! read more

I was stoked to find a collection of food trucks at the Clinton Crossing Outlet Mall. I was even more excited when I stumbled upon one with a wood-fired stove, serving up fresh slices of pizza! We had Frank's Mobile do our wedding this past weekend in West Granby CT - so there were months of emails and communicating about what we wanted. They made appetizers - salad - all we could eat pizza (including a gluten free option) - and Italian coffee at an extremely reasonable price (and sent us home with leftovers!) Overall they were awesome and I would highly recommend for any event. To start, I want to say that I am typically not a pizza or calzone fan - so that should say something for this review. We were at Stonycreek Brewery and decided to eat something. There was a burger truck in the lot as well as this wood fire truck. We waited at the burger truck for a while and no one came out to wait on us (he was inside the building), meanwhile, we checked out the menu for pizza and said, eh, let's just get something here. We decided on the calzone with arugula and balsamic. Everything was made to order right there, he dough was rolled, cooked, topped and ready to enjoy in 5-10 minutes. We went inside to eat and I couldn't wait to dive into this plate of deliciousness. It was SUCH a tasty calzone I could have had it all to myself - except I had to share with the husband and baby. Frank and his crew catered my parents 60th wedding celebration in June 2019. From the start, Frank was so easy to work with and you can tell he is very kind and honest; you will not be let down. We even noticed the paper good used were high quality. 7 different kinds of wood-fired pizza and salad were served in a fast manner where the lines were short and the pizza always piping hot. The folks working the oven, especially Max the chef, are incredibly efficient and customer-service oriented. Forget those "fancy" pizza trucks that are incredibly expensive. We hired Frank Andrew's Mobile Kitchen for a graduation party this past weekend and we are so glad we did! It was a gamble as I didn't see a lot of reviews but they were reasonable and available for our date so I booked them. A crew of 5 showed up and quickly set up the "kitchen" to serve our party of 55. The oven that they pull behind was already hot when they arrived so they were ready to go quickly. The pizzas were fantastic-buffalo chicken, pear/gorgonzola, pepperoni, white with shrimp to name a few. The reviews from our guests were 5 star! Then the dessert pizzas came out-nutella with berries, apple marzipan with crumbled bown sugar, unbelievable. When they were done there were 3 leftover pizzas for us. Frank had told me there are usually 9 or 10 so knowing I was going to have a house full of teenagers after the party I asked if they could leave me with a few more. Even though they had started the dessert pizzas they, with a smile and a "no problem" and without hesitation, made me 5 more! If I had to have a con it would be the low quality paper plates and the shortage of paper plates (I provided them with extra). But I, without hesitation would recommend them to anyone-several of my friends plan on booking them in the future. I just hope I'm invited :) read more
