This is a huge intermodal transit hub where you can connect to multiple NJ Transit trains and buses. It's very big and if you know where you're going, it's efficient but the signage could be better, especially if someone is picking you up. It's fairly well maintained and tidy. There are some places to get snacks, drinks and food. Escalators seem to work. The pick up area is very odd. There's a narrow road were people park but it's hard to walk on the road so you have to walk behind these big walls as you go down the line and then peep your head out at each opening to make sure you didn't pass your ride. Have your ticket ready when you exit so you can scan it to get through the turnstiles. read more

You can't deny the gorgeous architecture and that there's a fair amount of seating. The station staff are also very good about helping people get to the right train line, especially if you're heading to NYC. It definitely doesn't have the food options of Penn Station but the size and general conditions of the ladies bathrooms more than make up for it. A large clean transit hub where there are actual clean seats that you can sit on if you are waiting to transfer to another train. This place can get very busy but it never feels over whelming like Penn Station can. From Penn Station to Seacaucus Junction is exactly an 8-minute ride. Before, there really was not a lot of selection for food. Except for a Duncan Donuts, convenience store that sold magazines, candy, drinks, sandwiches and basics. There is also a full bar that only serves drinks and snacks Now, they just opened Auntie Ann Pretzels, Cinnabon and Carvel. They also have a couple of vending machines that sells snacks and drinks. It is also the best way to get to MetLife stadium. When there are any games or concerts happening at MetLife stadium this train station is very organized. There is always clear instructions and a person who works their guiding travelers to find the shuttle that will take them to the stadium. read more

This was my first time taking a train a round trip from Secaucus Junction to NYC. As I walked into the station I was impressed by its cleanliness. The center hall has walkways to each wing. The ticket kiosks are modern and can scan the QR code from mobile tickets. There are few shops available as well. I was able to locate direction to the NYC train easily but finding the actual platform was difficult as no sign clearly mentioned it. I was finally able to guess it by following other people who were lining up to board the train. The train arrived on time, boarding process was easy. Upon return, it was easy to walk back to the hall area and take the exit. At the back side of the station there's passenger pick up area. There are some taxis available as well. Overall I had a good experience but might be a whole different situation commuting during rush hours. read more

As far as public transportation goes this station has pretty clear signage and is easy to navigate. The inside is clean and spacious compared to NYC stations (though let's be real basically any public transportation outside of NYC is cleaner than NYC). It's a main transfer station between train lines coming out of NY Penn Station and other NJ Transit lines, with 8 main tracks (2, 3, A, B, E, F, G and H). On this particular day I used it to transfer between two NJ transit lines and it was a smooth transition. Getting off at the lower level track 3 I followed signs up to the main atrium and other lines, scanned my ticket QR code at a turnstile and followed the signs to Platform G/H. Clocks, train time and direction are posted clearly on each platform. The main atrium had multiple screens showing scheduled times for all upcoming departures and arrivals. Secaucus Junction is also a bus station with about 10-odd lines stopping here. The bus stops are located in an outdoor lot southeast of the train station and with signs denoting each bus number. Can't speak to the parking situation since my experiences here have just been transiting thru or transferring within the station. read more

I like this station a lot; kudos to the people who dreamt it into existence. I live in Manhattan but have a lot of friends in NJ (lived there for 30+ yrs) and go out to visit often. Most of the time I can't get a direct NJTransit train, I have to transfer at Secaucus Junction. First couple of times I was confused, but a. there's an office there, staffed by humans, where you can get answers, and b. there's a very helpful digital board that lists every. single. stop. in alphabetical order. So whether I have to catch a train to, say Allendale, or Mahwah, or Westwood, the time and track are on that board; very helpful. I'm repeatedly impressed with the women's restroom, always pretty clean, numerous stalls and sinks. There's a mediocre Dunkin' and a little convenience store within the same space. You can get a magazine, hand wipes, aspirin, that kind of thing. What this station lacks are some charging stations or electrical outlets, and a water fountain that could also refill water bottles. There's space enough, I think, for another retail outlet. Overall, convenient stop, helpful NJT employees at the gates, info you need for catching your train. read more

As a first time rider that has actually never researched how to ride the train to New York City from Secaucus I found that riding the train actually wasn't too difficult at all. What I enjoy here were these Transit stations! This place was clean and I really enjoyed the convenience store that was featured here too. I thought it was weird that they sold alcohol here too for something that's connected to a train station. I felt safe with the security present here too. This place is clean, which is the only reason I voted it a 2. However, it has the NASTIEST employees! On Sunday, August 17th at approx 9:28 am I was trying to transfer to go to Penn Station NYC to see my husband at MSK Cancer Center. I overheard an announcement that the train would be arriving on track 2. Since that was across the platform, I was in the wrong spot. I went upstairs to ask where that was and a RUDE black woman said downstairs. I said, "I just came from there. She said the same thing, downstairs. I then said "I'm confused b/c I just came from there". So her response was to raise her voice "DOWNSTAIRS." I told her she didn't need to be rude. Her RUDE response was "well I kept telling you the same damn thing". I was confused b/c I came from where she was telling me to go, and not listening to me at all - just being aggressive. Mind you, I'm on my way to see my husband with Cancer - apparently this woman never heard the phrase "be kinds, you never know what someone else is going through". I hope a supervisor sees this and figures out who was working that day at that time, b/c she needs a serious attitude adjustment! read more

I came back from NYC late at night and there were supposedly 2 trains back home from Secaucus according to the NJT app and neither one actually existed in reality neither one ever came. The only thing that is saving this review from being a one star review is the fact that so many trains pass through here, roughly 10-20 per hour, with higher numbers coming during rush hour. Besides that, I did not find too much to like. The staff is incredibly rude, they made me pay an extra $5 for a ticket because I had already went through the transfer concourse to get a water bottle. It is almost like they do not want you lingering around. Train stations should not be like that. They should be for exploring and enjoying (within reason). I was not loitering or doing anything wrong, just watching a few trains and enjoying the action this station has to offer. But if this station is going to make me feel like a money bag and not like a person, I will simply go up to Newark Penn and railfan there. read more

Such a God-awful experience here today. I was commuting to Hoboken and I missed my transfer at Newark Broad. I told one of the agents there since I'm now trying to exit and catch an Uber to Hoboken. I showed her my original ticket and she forced me to get a Secaucus ticket to get through. Secaucus Station is a nice looking train terminal, but I hate going there. This is where you can connect to the Bergen NJ Transit line from New York Penn or Newark Penn train lines. Depending on your schedule though, you may find yourself running to get to your connection or waiting for a very long time. If you're waiting, there's a DD and bar at least. Secaucus does the job, but be ready to run or wait forever. read more

Great commuter location. Designated sign and area for UBER pick up. Small room to wait in so you are not in the elements while you wait for a ride. Steady trains to get you to and from, for me it is usually to and from NYC Penn station. Only thing I tend to not like it the frequency of the more local trains but that's on Transit not this station. There is a huge parking lot with a monthly pay option, and valet. I never use that, I was a monthly Parker at one point but I now pay as I go the 30 per day which for the safety and leave of mind is worth it. Not much food or things to occupy your time while you are there, I wish there were more stores or things there cause there is a time where you may have to wait an hour or so for your train. Not the best, not the worst. I took the NJ Transit from the City which was a mere 12 minutes from Penn. Very quick and easy. A one way ticket cost $4.25. The main area is nice, I guess. A rotunda with art in the center. They have a very typical Jersey rest stop news stand that sells Snapple for $2, magazines, chachkies, snacks and junk. They also have a Dunkin' Donuts. I ate nothing, but I might have eaten at the Dunkin' had I the time. They also have a Sbarro if you're starving to death- TO DEATH or have never eaten food before. This junction was a great addition to NJ transit but it can be extremely confusing the first few times you pass through here. The other thing you will notice is the overwhelming stench of urine, apparently there are no bathrooms on the platform so everyone just wizze's where they are. I got stuck here on New year's eve after some nut job decided to jump in front of my train, so i found the bar and was shocked at the cheap prices 4$ beers and 5$ mixed drinks! can't beat that, it's twice as much in Newark Penn. So this was the first time for us driving to NYC, but many told us to just drive to NJ and take a train in. We looked at a few places and we really wanted to get to Penn Station in NYC because that was closest to our hotel. We were very uneasy about the whole process but it all worked out. First we were worried about traffic even getting to this station because it was near Lincoln tunnel, but we arrived on a Tuesday after 1pm and it was smooth sailing. We were not used to train travel and what trains to take, so we went to customer service and they were very informative and also told us to get a round trip tickets so it would be easier. This place was very clean and welcoming. It was next to the parking lot and we had a few steps to take, but very convenient and easy to get to NYC without the hassle of driving in the city. read more

After almost 3 years NJ Transit on time schedule is not so timely. Well I have been through the Secaucus Junction for the past almost 3 years so let me be more specific. I emanate from the Pascack Valley line every morning and return every evening. The Pascack Valley line is very timely, but, my trip to and from Newark Penn is far less than timely. But, this is a review of the Secaucus Junction. Secaucus Junction being relatively new is quite nice. I don't mind waiting here for my usual 10-15 minute connection wait. There is the Junction bar and eateries if you get held up more than 15 minutes. The change from the former magnetic stripe readers to the newer state of the art QR codes has been less than effective. Many times the gate scanners can not read the QR codes of either the single day or even monthly passes. Someone needs to invent a more effective QR code. read more

Even though Secaucus Junction does not fit neatly into any of the Yelp categories, I felt it needed to be included. Secaucus Junction is a large train station located in the middle of the Meadowlands; constructed as a hub to alleviate the mass of commuters having to go to Hoboken. Before it's construction, commuters were forced to go the extra 10-15 minutes into Hoboken, and then from there take either a ferry or the PATH to get into New York City. It was crowded and with the ever growing population commuting more and more everyday, it was only going to get worse. $450,000,000 later, this oasis in the wet-lands was born. With the construction of Secaucus Junction, commuters can now stop there and take a train directly into Penn Station in mid-town Manhattan. 8 of NJTransit's lines stop there, with an additional line being added in the near future, to go directly to the Meadowlands itself. Unfortunately, Secaucus Junction has many minor flaws which make it an un-reliable stop. Things as simple as out-dated schedules, or improperly displayed schedules; which would take literally one minute to fix, go un-touched for months on end. One of the platforms has a schedule board with the "To Hoboken" schedule on both sides. A minor mistake, but something that could be fixed in a matter of seconds. Most of the new (the building was opened in 03) monitors that display train times are broken and have been so for quite some time. Even if you manage to find one that isn't cracked it is bound to show the wrong information or have a Windows Error screen blocking vital info. The interior of the building is good looking (for a train station i suppose), with artwork, mosaics, large open areas, and a large sculpture of Cat-tails in the middle. It is kept relatively clean, though with not as many commuters as any of NYC's major stations, one wonders how hard is it really to maintain? Seating is hard to come by, which is especially frustrating with all the open areas where a bench or two could have been thrown in. There are enclosed seating areas towards the ends of the platforms outside, but those usually fill up relatively quickly. There is no heat on the platforms, so during the winter many people wait right by the exits onto the platforms which creates massive congestion. Outside commuters are greeted with high winds and a terrible stench... something between mildew and horse manure. One of the biggest flaws of Secaucus Junction is the lack of any parking whatsoever. It is attached to the outside world via exit 15x on the New Jersey Turnpike. 15x is officially the most un-used exit on the NJ Turnpike, and probably all of NJ's highway system. It only goes to Secacus Junction, but without parking, seems fairly useless. Large 4 lane over-passes and even toll booths that lead to pretty much nowhere. My ropinion is that Secacus Junction is a necessary evil, all you have to do is be ready to deal with it. Here are some pointers: -Know your trip before-hand, it will make your stop that much more painless. -Be patient, the first few screens you come to may be broken, but keep looking, you'll find one that works -Don't be afraid to ask, the employees there are actually very nice, and for the most part willing to help you out however necessary. -If you get disoriented in one of the corridors (which I have seen happen) head towards the glowing purple metal cat-tail sculpture. -Head towards the ends of the platforms, they are always less crowded and you'll be able to find a seat on the train easier away from the middle -if anything happens with your train, become a pain in the ass and ask as many questions as possible. Keep yourself informed. Many a time trains have switched or are being combined with only a single muffled barely audible announcement . read more

It's not a bad station, but it does the job decently. Most of the NJ Transit trains pull in here from all of the lines, and (unless if there's a special event), Amtrak trains rocket past the station. Trains from Main/Bergen line, and Pascack Valley line pass on the ground level, and all of the other lines that have electric overlays go on the elevated track above - en route to NYC-Penn station or to their destination. Trains usually give 30-60 seconds of a stop here until they leave, so depending on the time of day, you can catch the next one on rush hour (very soon), or worst case +30 minutes (late night). There's food shops and amenities here, as what you can expect for a transit hub, but it's from decent to subpar, and they close in the late night, Most people outside of NJ call the area around I-95 an "armpit" and that might be true. The station is connected to a specific exit for I-95/NJT's eastern spur (15X), and in close proximity to the other highways. On one side, you see factories, warehouses, and rapidly developed condos and shops, and the other, you see the beauty of the untouched Meadowlands (so far). One thing is for certain: do NOT discard your ticket if you're departing/transferring to a train here (i.e. Hoboken bound train for NYC bound train, etc). The upper level contains areas to scan tickets for NY-southbound trains, and they're only valid for those trains only. Also, they're only good for one use. If not, you'll have to spend 2$-4,50$ on a ticket just to leave the station, plus your other ticket (also try not to discard that one too before the train, or you'll have to buy another one for 5$ more). read more

For a train hub, this place has very few services to offer. There is a Hudson News and inside of that is a Dunkin Donuts. There is a Sabarrows and a bar. One soda vending machine and one snack machine that routinely steals your money. There is an ATM. There are also several places on the upper mezzanine to charge your phone. If you are waiting for a train on track H, no benches to sit on. Why? In the waiting room on track H-no AC in the summer. What the heck???? Again, I must ask NJT-Why? The bathroom is serviceable and better than what you will find in Penn Station. Would be awesome if soap dispensers were actually filled with soap. If they work at all it appears to be watered down pink mystery liquid. The pick up and drop off area is a joke. There are taxis lining this area and god forbid if you have the temerity to park there cuz you are picking up someone...I've had taxi drivers yelling at me because they don't think I should be there even though this is the only designated area for drop off and pick ups. There is the awesome area where you can board a bus, and it has plenty of room, but people dropping off or picking up cannot go there. I wind up parking on the street next to the Edison parking to wait when I have to pick up someone and then they have to walk that long way to get to me,which is especially fun in bad weather. What more can I say? It's a train station. It has a bar. It's clean, bright, spacious, newer looking and well maintained. There is a Dunkin Doughnuts there. A newsstand. Clean bathrooms. I pass through here as a connection to the football stadium. Lots of police on duty during football Sundays. A lot of staff working the ticket gates to help keep the crowds moving. I think it's weird you need to swipe your ticket to LEAVE the station. Once I misplaced my ticket and I had to pay to leave. I kept the ticket secure after that but still, I don't get it. Also I asked someone how to get to ground level. He directed me to the elevator, where there was a huge line. After several minutes of nothing happening, I had to track someone down to ask where stairs were. One elevator down? Ugh. There's not a very big pick up area for cars and there's only one parking lot who with the monopoly charges high. Basically, just be happy if your train sails through here or if you only have to change tracks. read more

Easy to park here and take the train into NYC when the traffic is heavy instead of taking the bus in. Parking after 4:00 is around $9.50. They also have vallet. The NJ Transit trains all stop here, but the platforms, as much as they are "new" have all kinds of labels and no accurate track signs. It can be a wee bit confusing with where the trains are but there's usually an employee around to direct you. If not, follow the crowd. As any other NJ Transit station, they have the nifty machines that temporarily steal your ticket and then open up so you can pass through. I've noticed a few food options but I've never had time to really explore them here. This station is also very clean at all times, which is appreciated. read more

Even though I don't like the name of the station, this is my station when I go into the city and I am leaving from the area. In 15 mins or less you are in NY Penn Station. The structure has the essentials: bathrooms and bar. :-) The only bummer is, if you are not getting dropped off, is paying for parking ($20 or more). The good thing about parking is you can text them about 30 mins before you are coming and they will have your car waiting. $4 gets you a 1 way to Penn Station. I find it to be convenient. read more

I like the existence of the Junction and have used it quite a bit when heading to see relatives and various conventions. It's for the most part a very clean and on schedule sort of station. The signage is easy enough to find and follow and while there are numerous outlets visible if you need to sit and plug in your devices, I didn't detect any sort of free WiFi. That would be helpful. The staff of the junction have always been helpful when I've asked them questions which is good since I am forever clueless when not on an MTA train and the bathroom facilities are kept up. Not like one finds in Port Authority and generally Penn Station. Clean and well lit. An important factor and a safety issue in some sense. That's all I have. read more
