We came here for lunch as my dad likes Frank's and we were in town. The business has been here almost as long as my dad has been alive and the building is nostalgic and cute inside. When the hostess saw us from the kitchen she immediately came out and told us to pick a table. We ordered and then I decided I wanted wine with my meal and asked for a glass of Chianti because, well, it's an Italian restaurant. The do not have any Italian wine so I got the glass of cab. My dad and husband ordered the minestrone soup and really enjoyed it. My husband and I shared 2 sandwiches: the spicy Italian sausage and meatball sandwiches. There was no spice in the spicy sausage so we added a lot of black pepper. The meatballs were small and a little dry but tasty. The power went out just before we got our meal so we weren't sure what was going to happen. The staff was apologetic and trying to figure out what was going on. We got our food and it was hot and fresh. We were told that we would need to pay in cash which I rarely have on hand so I'm not sure what would have happened if I said that we didn't have any. We ate in the dark and were offered no compensation. The wine list is atypical of an Italian restaurant and having to eat by only the light of the front door being open without any kind of compensation isn't the service one would expect. We've been here 4 times. First experience was excellent, but the second, third and fourth time have been very disappointing. The last two times I've ordered the lasagna, and it tastes like it's been refrigerated and then reheated. Our most recent server was a young lady wearing jeans and an oversized sweatshirt, which I deem far too casual for the environment but also just plain unprofessional. I worked as a server for many years and while I can appreciate "nonchalance" in some specific restaurant settings, this historic (and not cheap) establishment is not one. I've been to Frank's a couple of time and have also gotten food from Frank's that's been delivered for lunch. The latter is the case in this review. I tried the Lasagna with salad and garlic bread. There's something about their tomato sauce that just doesn't end well on my palate. I was with reservation that I tried it today. I had my reasons (the aftertaste) and I stand by that assessment. Nostalgic Italian restaurant with quaint environment. My husband LOVED the calamari appetizer ("best I've ever had"). My salmon dinner over Angel hair pasta with a delicious cream & spinach sauce was excellent and a very generous portion. The salad was drenched in ranch dressing assuming to cover up the brown parts of lettuce. We had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer (the best part of the meal), and tea and soda. For me the spaghetti was lacking in spices, if you can get past the taste of wine in the sauce. Meatballs small and unremarkable especially for the price. A quick search for Italian food nearby our hotel showed us this place. We were very impressed with the food! My husband is from Boston and Frank's definitely reminds of us both of a quaint East Coast Italian restaurant. The service was fast and friendly! Our entrees both came with salads and we ordered garlic bread which was so good! I ordered spaghetti and hubby ordered chicken parmigiana. The location wasn't difficult to find and only a couple of miles from our beach front hotel. The building is two story. The first floor dining room was small but romantic. I didn't see the upstairs but I would assume it's a bigger space as I did see their advertisement for banquet facilities. We will definitely be back next time we're in Corpus! read more

The vibes here were great! It had such an authentic and home like feeling. Maria was the sweetest and the best customer service we've received in a long time, attentiveness and funny humor made this experience worth wanting to going back... she need to be a manager or a big raise lol. I wasn't to much a fan of the pizza it was good if your a thin crust kinda person but personally I prefer and a good amount of marinara sauce and thick crust but this one lacked both for me.. spaghetti was very delicious! The interior is beautiful. Friendly, inviting, and almost homey. The service is impeccable. Our server was beyond nice, making wonderful recommendations as well as being honest about dishes. He was also incredibly kind (our cheesecake was free since it was a small size, the lemonade we were no charged for since we couldn't get a refill, and we also received a complimentary coffee). Overall truly outstanding. The food was also wonderful. Every dish was more delicious than the last one, but for me the cheese crostini was the star of the show. The desserts were a bit disappointing and definitely not as good as the rest of the meal. Nevertheless my family and I still thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I had high hopes due to the reviews. Our appetizer was fried mozzarella and it was great! I was excited until our dishes came out... I ordered the chicken San mariono it was supposed to be in a light lemon sauce with spaghetti, chicken, mushrooms and mozzarella. When I got the bowl my chicken was served WHOLE not sliced... so it was a bother to cut in my bowl because now I'm cutting into my pasta noodles. What really did it for me was my mushrooms and mozzarella... the mushrooms were RAW not even browned or heated up with the sauce! You can taste how rubbery they were! The mozzarella was a giant dried up glob of cheese it wasn't evenly distributed throughout the dish. So disappointing I had high hopes. My boyfriend ordered the creamy shrimp Chardonnay at that point it should've been called a shrimp Alfredo because that's exactly what it was. It was very thick and rich there was no lightness coming from the Chardonnay. My grandpa LOVES this place, so I had to stop by before heading home. I had a strong craving for spaghetti and meatballs, and it was delicious. The noodles were a bit undercooked, but the rest made up for it. The meatballs are BIG! I just ordered two and got pretty full. They're well seasoned and perfectly cooked. I tried this place out on a work trip and was not disappointed! I got their Italian dressing for my salad and it tasted fresh. My waiter provided a recommendation of the chicken piccata, and it was delicious. I had plenty to take for later. I enjoyed the food so much that I went back for a second time in the week and this time got the combination plate (spaghetti, lasagna, ravioli). I will say the ravioli was not my favorite as it didn't taste as fresh as the other items, however, I am very pleased with this place. Mehhhh. I probably wouldn't return here. The prices are quite high for the amount and quality of food you get. The cheesy garlic bread was $10, which is a little high for bread, but it was good! The two chicken dishes we got were just OK, and the portion sizes are honestly quite small for $16 plates. The service was great and the waiter was very attentive and nice. Great little place that has been there since time began, is the feel. Real homemade Italian food.

They have the feel of old world charm. This place is an old favorite. My parents took me there for my high school graduation back in 1977.Food was amazing. My family have been repeat customers since then. I have eaten almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Food taste great. Make you feel as though your eating in the home of an Italian friend. Reminds that I need to go enjoy the food and staff that serve your meals. Wish I had some pics to share. read more

My husband and I found this gem of restaurant when we moved to Corpus Christi and were thrilled. Good food that was authentic and seemed to be prepared fresh. We revisited this evening and the change is disappointing. The server was kind, however the pasta was definitely not made by the restaurant, and judging from the salad bags we could clearly see from the opened door of the fridge that was in the hopefully temporary relocation next door, came from Sam's Club. One minute later, our drinks come up. I said that they had forgotten about us. Waiter said we weren't forgotten, that it was just very busy (at 4:30 on a Sat afternoon). I said that 15 min it's by a normal amount of time to wait for a drink, no matter how busy. He said it was. After a few choice words, we left. Called back from the road to try and tell the manager. I'm 5 months pregnant and Frank's Spaghetti House is my go to place. I have their Chicken Parmesan at least 3x a week. The pasta is good but I love the chicken, crispy, cheesy, and it is just made perfect. I highly recommend this place to everyone. The servers are on their feet and always ready to help. The food is great! I'd give a 4.5 stars. Only reason I'd take away a few points is because when I walk in I can smell the Italian sausage and I get grossed out but I am also pregnant and have a very sensitive nose. Ambiance is everything. Very quaint, Sinatra era music. Wait staff so wonderful! It was very cozy. Table candles or flowers would've added to the setting. I had the lasagne. My friend had the eggplant parmesan. Both just delicious! Garlic bread was just ok. Fried calamari, not pictured, wasnt crispy at all but the sauce is scrumptious. I loved my spumone, but my friend said the tiramisu was not as good as other places. This place was recommended by a dear friend. My wife says 4 stars and I say 3. This is a mom and pop type restaurant. Very old world kind of decor and probably family recipes. All old school but need an update for the modern tastes. We had Cheese Ravioli, Beef Ravioli, Lasagna, Spaghetti with meat sauce and for an app, the fried mushrooms. My wife loved her cheese ravioli and the cannoli's she had for dessert. I thought the beef ravioli, lasagna and spaghetti were lacking in flavor. No garlic, parmesan Reggiano and even a lack of(dare we say it) salt. I believe the lasagna should have had Italian sausage instead of beef. The Bolognese could have benefited from a parm rind thrown in the sauce when it cooked, this would have added flavor and salt. I don't need to discuss the beef ravioli, you know where I would go with that. The mushrooms had lots of herbs in the breading but you could hardly taste them. I believe they are using dried herbs and not fresh. Dried herbs certainly have there place, but the herb flavor will not come through in a breading. Give this place a try, your palate may be different from mine. read more

We came for lunch on our visit to Corpus Christi. Hubby always gets the homemade spaghetti and meatballs and I check out the weekday special offerings. This time because of road construction in front of the building and the city turning off the water, we had to come back the next day and their menu was a little limited ( no meatballs) so hubby had spaghetti and meat sauce and I had a muffuletta... both were delicious and we finished about 2/3 of the food which always comes with a salad or soup as the lunch special. Very reasonably priced for all the food you get. Then we shared a slice of homemade cheesecake topped with strawberry sauce. Yummy. It was served with soup or salad and bread. We both got salads and they were good! The garlic bread was incredible! If I am ever back in the area, we will eat there again.
