Dr. Petersen is the most compassionate, considerate, and humble medical doctor that I have known. His personal demeanor and reassuring disposition are powerful tools for patient assurance of well being. Dr. Petersen's professional skills are of the superior variety. He is knowledgeable and up to date on contemporary issues. It is with great conflict of personal interest that I review this stellar physician, as I selfishly do not wish to hinder my access to Dr. Petersen's calendar by spreading the good word of his accomplishments. My better self compels me to do so because, to not, would be to deprive others of Dr. Jeffrey Petersen's notable healing skills.

When my son (26 yr old) was told he would be in a wheelchair by 30, I had him switch doctors, Petersen reviewed his history and I am happy to say within 6 months was back to competitive bowling! Oh boy. Where do I start?…read more I broke my ankle 7/2/22 and went to the ER 7/3. Since 7/3 (Currently 7/12) I have been fucked around by this Medical Center. I've been told by one person to walk in for an appointment, having a nurse that day do her absolute best to kick me out. Telling the other nurse that it "takes too much paperwork" to do walk-ins and mentioned her fancy lunch she brought... must be why she didn't want to help anyone so she can worry more about her lunch. Didn't get her name, Had to convince her to let me wait inside & sit down w/ a broken ankle. Persistently said I won't be seen/should just leave. Kicked everyone out/told them to come back after 2pm when her lunch was over. I had Jason call and tell me they needed the x-rays and waited DAYS when it should have been there the 3rd after getting off the phone with the ER. I've been told how it's the insurance's fault; even though I have called both of my insurance numbers and both told me my doctor has filed the referral wrong-- causing a longer wait to get anyone to look at my broken ankle! It's been 9 days and no one has psychically looked at my ankle, the televisit with Robert Krochalis-Soliani was a joke, he didn't even have my x-rays that they needed so bad to make the appointment??? Which made me wonder if I could have gotten this done much faster the day I walked in!!! This still isn't taken care of, it's absolutely absurd that if anyone needs real medical attention it will just be thrown aside! If you want real medical help-- go somewhere else. Anywhere else. This place will tell you what you want to hear and takes fucking FOREVER to actually do what they are supposed to.

This Achilles Coffee is tucked smack dab in the middle of a health-centric mall surrounded by wellness centers, nutritional experts, and yoga studios. The decent sized parking lot is typically busy but has a good churn throughout the day. There's street parking too and the commuter rail nearby for those looking for a light walk. With seating outside on both the ground level and up on the roof, it's a perfect spot to soak in some sun, breathe in the ocean air, and have a sip and a bite in this quiet part of town. The menu here is comprehensive with coffee (espresso, pour overs, cold brew), teas, specialty drinks, as well as breakfast and light bites to pair with a good start to the morning. We primarily came for a coffee run but a few of our team members decided to visit for breakfast the following day and from what I've heard, they're solid with the food! I look forward to coming back to give their bites a try. In theme for Saint Patrick's Day, they had a few special drinks but I opted for a traditional flat white this time. They had milk options but as a traditionalist, I went with whole milk. The coffee had great flavor and balance. The richness was bold and rounded out after every sip. I was tempted to grab a couple bags on my way out but seeing they had free shipping for online orders over $40 (about two bags), I decided to save some luggage space and order some when I was back home. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was impressed how many of them they were able to fit behind the small work area but they were experienced and worked collectively as a team. The drinks were prepared quick and for those liking them hot, you will be pleased with the freshness of that first sip. Overall, Achilles Coffee is a perfect small batch roaster to visit while you're in San Diego to get a great cup of coffee, a breakfast to go with it, and some bags of single origin or blend to bring back home for your own brew. And if you're interested in trying them out before you visit or just looking to restock, consider checking out their website and order from there. They even have a sampler to try their in-season batches. I guess their only Achilles' heel is that there aren't more of them but with five spots all across San Diego county, at least a San Diegan (or visitor) can get a taste of the sweet nectar marketed under this Greek warrior's moniker.
