My experience with the office staff has always been very good. When you call the office someone actually answers the phone and helps you. Fortunately I'm reasonable healthy and my interaction with the office is usually once a year for an annual physical. It is a review of blood labs, includes an EKG done in the office, and the normal look and listen to what's going on with my body. If referrals are needed for specialists follow-up they are made. I'm 77 years old and I've been a patient for over 10 years and they are keeping me going. I just called the office a few minutes ago, someone answered, helped me renew two prescriptions, and it took about 3 minutes. That's awesome. A few years ago I sliced open my finger on a very sharp kitchen knife. I called the office and they said to come right in. Dr. Strutz sewed up my finger right in his office saving me a trip to the ER. My last labs showed some decline in kidney function. Dr. Strutz said you were probably dehydrated, drink more water and he ordered a retest. He was correct, retest result all normal a consistent year over year. read more

Dr. Strutz was recommended by my audiologist after I lamented to him that the current medical office didn't help decipher my blood work results. Yesterday on my second visit he and I reviewed all my recent results in detail, he spend a lot of time with me, and gave me boat loads of advice and info. Best interaction I've ever had with a doctor. Highly recommend. Just an easy to talk to, very knowledgeable doctor, what else would you want? I have been seeing Dr. Strutz since 2020. It was an unfortunate event that brought me to his office but I am glad it did. My previous doctor of 16 years had passed away from covid and his office was sending patients to Dr. Strutz. I did not have health insurance at the time. Dr. Strutz was kind, informative and spent the time with me at each visit, getting to know me and my history. In 2022 I moved an hour away and obtained Kaiser Permanente insurance through my job. I have continued to remain a cash patient of Dr. Strutz and see him periodically. I have had multiple incident's of horrible care and experiences with Kaiser where Dr. Strutz has helped me through. He spends time explaining everything to me and helping me better understand. I will continue to pay out of pocket to see Dr. Strutz in order to receive actual care and treatment by a Doctor who actually cares about helping his patients. He is very knowledgeable. Beginning with my first phone call to his office, answered by a real person, who was very professional and so pleasant to speak to. Got all my questions answered, and scheduled my appointment. Upon arrival they were expecting me, helped me fill out the forms, and then Dr Strutz was ready to see me. No sitting and waiting like happens in so many medial office visits. Lastly, and obviously most important, Dr Strutz was just a down-to-earth soul who listened well, put me at ease, and explained all about his approach to medicine. Dr. Strutz has been my primary care physician for a while. From the very first visit I was thinking, I need to find a better doctor, but his office was close to home and very convenient. Each time I visited Dr. Strutz office the amount of time with Dr. Strutz always seemed to be rushed. When my office visit was done I would leave the office thinking Dr. Strutz never takes enough time for me to ask questions and explore his diagnosis. As an example, when I would get blood work done his office would not allow me to obtain the blood test results in advance so that I could review it and be prepared to ask informed questions. After multiple times of "rushed office visits" on my last office visit Dr. Strutz he made a new diagnosis and then left the examination room. No time to inquire about the new diagnosis, or what to do or not do. I called Dr. Strutz's office back the next day and asked for a referral to a specialist. As usual (perhaps I should say as always), the office staff was confused and could not get me the referral. It took 5 calls to the office to finally get the referral! In regard to the office staff, it seems that Dr. Strutz's office is a bit of a revolving door for office help. The office turn over was significant! Virtually every time I needed refills for my standard medications the office staff would bungle it and it would take 3 or more return calls to Dr. Strutz's office to get my routine medication refills! All in all, not a doctor I would recommend. Then I decided to finally change over to another doctor and asked for my records to be transferred. Strutz's office sent me an email stating that the charge to send my records to my new doctor would cost me $35! So I called Strutz's office to discuss this and supposedly a new person answered. She spoke so softly that I could barely make out what she was saying. She said she just started 2 days ago. I asked her to speak up and asked her what her name was. She said "Ditz" I said "Ditz" and she said yes!! I could not believe what I heard, I asked her to spell her name and she spelled out "Ditz"! So unprofessional. I simple said good by and hung up. One final comment. A few friends of mine have used Dr. Strutz and have experienced much of what I did. One very common comment from all of us is that he is the most arrogant doctor any of us have known (this may be part of the reason his office is a revolving door for office help)! When one of my friends complained Struz said "I am the captain of my ship". My friend abruptly changed doctors. read more

Dr. Strutz, assistant/wife, Jenny, and the entire staff are very professional and friendly. Dr. Strutz may come to work in Levis (that is true Fallbrook Style), but he knows his profession and is always willing to listen, discuss and educate patients on conditions/symptoms/solutions. And he does not "over medicate" patients as most doctors do these days. Strutz Medical is definitely not your typical "cattle call, get 'em in, get 'em out" doctor's office. Dr. Peter Strutz seems to be a nice enough guy but one of his office staff in particular, Jenny (I believe her name to be) focuses on collecting money whether it is due or not. Someone in the office scheduled my husband for an appointment incorrectly. Since it was not in his schedule, he did not show. He explained to one of the women at the front desk when he arrived at his next office visit, that there was a misunderstanding and the appointment time and date was not the same as what he had. The woman working that day told him not to worry about it. He received a message following this appointment from another person in this office (possibly Jenny) stating he stilled owed the $50.00. He called on numerous occasions trying to resolve this thinking it wasn't that big of deal as it was a misunderstanding. Each time he called they did not answer or were out of the office. It's difficult to reach anyone because the doctor is off many days during the week. Today we receive a Collections Notice for the $50.00!!! Unbelievable! My husband is handicapped and the last thing he wants is not have a good relationship with his doctor. Or a hit on his credit score!! On top of that when I called upon receiving the collection's notice, Jenny hangs up on me. So between the unavailability, the lack of compassion and the focus on payment for services not rendered and that I just read another review that they request a fee for patient records...I would not recommend this medical practice. The office staff, especially Irma, was extremely sensitive to my concerns and the appointment was handled discreetly. After moving to Fallbrook I needed to locate a new doctor. This doctor had all five star reviews, so I thought I would give him a try. The following is my experience. I will let you form your own opinion about this supposedly 5 star practice. I was told to arrive 30 minutes early as a new patient and after sitting alone in the waiting room for over an hour, I happened to see the doctor sneaking in late through the back entrance. This was over 30 minutes late for my actual appointment. The doctor seemed personable enough upon meeting him. Upon leaving and paying, I was informed that while they took my insurance, I would have to pay extra above my deductible, which was $75 instead of $40, because this doctor was more expensive. OK, I paid but then a week or so later I get a phone call looking for a credit card for payment again. I explained that I had already paid. After some reminders, they apologized. This was after it had taken three trips to the pharmacy to get my prescriptions filled. The doctor's wife who was acting as office staff explained that she was getting used to new software. By now I'm becoming irritated, honestly. After my next meeting with the doctor, the exact same thing happened. I paid almost double my deductible before leaving and a week later I get another phone call trying to collect another double payment. That was it for me. My two experiences were much less than satisfactory and I have since found a new doctor. After two requests for this doctor to forward my records to my new physician, I received a typed letter saying that after I sent them $25, they would forward my records in 2 or 3 weeks. TWO OR THREE WEEKS? Good thing I'm not dying. Does this sound like a 5 star physician to you? I'm giving him 2 stars. Nuff said. read more

I met Dr. Strutz when I was admitted through Fallbrook Hospital's emergency department in excruciating pain with a large mass on my back and open sores all over my body. This had been going on for 9yrs. and no proper diagnosis. He popped into my room and ripped my lips. I was in quarantine-the possible diagnosis being MRSA. He didn't accept my lame excuse as to why I wasn't injecting insulin. You could kinda say it was a needed wake up call. I went into surgery the next morning. The mass was tested/cultured and came back as a serious colonizing staph infection. I was on heavy IV antibiotics for three days. It was the first time in 9yrs. my skin was healed and no open sores. I finally knew what was going on inside my body in regards to these sores and why. I was so depressed and suicidal, I honestly didn't care to live anymore. Doctors were not listening to me for 9yrs. that I needed IV antibiotics to close these wounds. I had no life what-so-ever. I wasn't about to be around anyone in case they could catch this crap. My white blood count was so high it was unbelievable. I have the scars all over my body of this nightmare. You can see all the colonizing that was going on inside the wounds/scars. What was really impressive to me...it was like I believe the second night of hospitalization when all of a sudden I was not receiving my IV antibiotics anymore. It was really strange considering how bad the infection was. I asked the nurse. She couldn't find any dc orders. I asked her to please contact Dr. Strutz, something was wrong. I thought maybe it was because I had three doctors involved in my case. Dr. Strutz immediately returned the phone call, got the orders re-instated and personally talked to me explaining it was a glitz in the computer system. I was very relieved! He took the call, was concerned and immediately remedied the the situation...he listened for gods sake! I am a retired/disabled firefighter/paramedic trained individual. I had 18 yrs. in the field and not a penny to my name from these disabilities I suffer with, all job related. The man did not take affront to my inquiring/knowing something was not right. That is rare in many doctors. This man, without knowing, gave me a reason to keep fighting through all these medical challenges. I also suffer with PTSD, needed left-rotator cuff surgery, two full knee replacements, left thumb surgery and numerous other medical issues. My only insurances are Medicare/ Medi-cal and I live on bare minimal income. The proper diagnosis/treatment/medicines were giving me a new look on my situation. I now had a ray of hope that I could beat this. And, someone listened and gave me the due respect I deserved. I sensed underneath that gruff first encounter-that doctor Strutz was a soft teddy bear type. I am single and no family to keep me pushing forward. He cared and gave me the hard push I needed to accept the fact I need to take my insulin no matter what. I highly recommend him as a person and trusted doctor.
