    Beer!

Amazing place. Inside and outside area with games, fire pits, patio heaters and food. Lots of beer and drink options. Food menu is pretty good with a decent number of veg and vegan options.

The atmosphere alone is what gets this it's rating. The sunny courtyard with large trees, brick architecture, and plenty of large oak tables makes this amazing on a sunny day. They even have vendors on the outskirts of the courtyard on some weekdays. Inside has nice tables with good warm lighting and a ping pong table. That being said, the beer is decent and the canned beer is pretty pricy (upwards of $15 or so). I know that must be a philly thing but I'm still not use to canned alcohol being so expensive. They can come in a stien which is good but not a big deal for the size. They also have beer cocktails which not many breweries can say and even though I didnt have the coctail I tried the beer it goes with and can tell it would be a good choice. The staff was friendly and helped with recommendations and samples. We are more hazy people and there weren't any even with their big list but I think that is just not their style. They have tones of janga games but no other boardgames which was a little disappointing but not a big deal either. Overall a great place to go with big groups esspecially in good westher.

Still love it here. ESP on a beautiful day. It's a great place to come for a bite and beer.

Really cool spot to drink outside on a nice day. Chill vibes, good crowd. The cheese that came with the pretzel was randomly so bad though

We enjoyed this place has a very cute outdoor area. However too busy to enjoy during the weekend but if you have time to hit here on the week days much quieter and nice. The German food is yummy they serve.

Food is good (especially the soft pretzels), beer is good, but it's hard to leave without smelling like a bonfire

Great place to hangout with friends - with both covered and outdoor garden with picnic tables. Its self-service - you order beer/drinks and food from the counter and can sit on any available tables. We went on a Saturday afternoon during Octoberfest and had a great time.

My first time to this venerable Starr attraction, and sorry to say, I wasn't overly impressed. While I love creative adaptive reuses of old literal brick & mortar 19th Century buildings, and Frankford Hall delivers on that score with large spaces, red brick walls, concrete floors and rusty iron beams, struts and huge glass windows and portable walls, the kitchen left a lot to be desired. Loved the German beer selection, but found the execution of basic standards to be lacking. My Pork Schnitzel Sandwich was on a decent seeded Martin's Roll, but offered little flavor beyond the drippy mustard sauce that covered my fingers with each pick up. That the server doesn't deliver napkins, condiments, nor flatware, is frustrating enough, but when the dish calls for those necessities, yet doesn't provide them, it shows a lack of concern for the customer. Sure, we can walk over to a self service station to get them ourselves, but none of that is immediately apparent to a first timer. My son asked for their standard cheese burger w bacon, served medium finish. What he got was well done. The steak knife stabbing it in the heart was an ironic twist, because it symbolized what he received - a manslaughtered sandwich with the murder weapon still sticking out of the corpse. How is that even possible when the menu is so limited that execution should have been perfected long ago? On the other hand, the tagalong fries were also overdone, but sufficiently crispy and nubby to actually be enjoyable. We were excited when we walked in and saw how well preserved the old factory floor was, and appreciated the layout of inside/outside space, the bar and the large windows and roll up garage door walls. We left knowing that we couldn't eat the atmosphere, and the kitchen didn't hold up its end of the bargain. Time for new eyes to find the right vision for this unique venue. The current view just isn't making it these days. But, then again, maybe the supersized Bavarian Pretzels tell a better story.

Fantastic vibes, stellar beer list, delicious no fuss food menu, and arguably the best spot in Philly for your easy-to-plan group outing. I was hanging with some girlfriends on a rainy summer Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't overly busy. We easily found an a spot indoors and grabbed our beers from the bar, with big kudos to the knowledgeable bartenders. I told him what I usually tend to enjoy and he poured me the "kristal" on draught, which suited me perfectly. As time went on and the sun came out, it seemed like the entire neighborhood came out to play in the giant beer garden. I really enjoyed the burger here and also appreciated the reasonable prices all around. Really looking forward to my next trip and excited for a summer enjoying the neighborhood and Frankford Hall.

Honestly there were soooo many people here on a friday afternoon and rightfully so! The staff was so kind i asked if someone could clean our table we wanted to sit at and immediately with no hesitation they did! The pretzel and cheese was honestly soooo yummy the cheese had a little curry taste with onions. It was top 5 favorite pretzels i have eaten and you have to get the cheese!!! It honestly is just a indoor outdoor feel place to have a beer super casual and great for games. We came and played jenga had a few beers and a pretzel. It was just a good activity for a friday afternoin. Next time i go up to Philly i will be back!!

The atmosphere is great, and it's a fun place to hang out! We ordered the giant Warm Bavarian Pretzel with the cheese dip. The pretzel was good, but we were not a fan of the cheese dip. For my meal I ordered The Classic Burger (single). The patty didn't have a ton of flavor, but the potato bun and fries were good. Overall, this is a great place to hang out and get some food and drinks!

Looking for a place to grab a beer and a hang out with friends, this is the perfect place! There are several varieties of beer and a few different wines. We came with friends to grab a drink and try and watch the Heat vs Celtics game. After ordering our beers we spoke with a bartender to ask about putting the game on one of the TVs, we were in Philly and they just got eliminated from playoffs so we thought they might not want to watch. Luckily after asking who we were rooting for and letting him know the Heat he happily turned the TV (The Celtics and just beat Philly so he said he was bitter against Boston fans). We drank several beers, eventually noticed all the TVs were turned to the game and everyone was cheering for the Heat who ended winning the game. Great beer, great service and great looking food, I was too full to eat anything else. As mentioned previously this is a great spots for groups and a great place to grab a beer.

Are you still asking for Proof of Vaccination status even though the city doesn't require it?

Hello Samantha. Per the City of Philadelphia guidelines, we do not require proof of vaccination at this time. Masks are still required to enter the building and when not actively eating or drinking.

Are the s'mores and fire pits back yet?

Hi Chandni, they certainly are. Hope to see you soon!

Would a picture of our vaccination cards suffice or do you need the physical card?

I showed a picture and that was sufficient

What is the covid entrance policy--do you need to wear a mask--do you need to be vacinated?

Hello Michael. Thank you for your inquiry. All guests 12 & older must be vaccinated to enter Frankford Hall. Let me know if I can answer any further questions for you.

Do you have the fire pits and s'mores back?

Hi Alex, thank you for reaching out. The fire pits and S'mores are seasonal and we expect to have…

How long are your outside dining wait times on Friday evenings?

Hi Abi! If we begin a wait on Friday evenings it can range anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour, sometimes a little longer. Please feel free to call ahead and we can let you know the wait time prior to your arrival. Prost!

Do you still have s'mores kits to roast s'mores?

Good evening Chandni, Due to current city and state guidelines we are not offering S'mores . Hopefully we will be back to gathering around the fire pits and roasting S'mores soon!

Is there room to host a fundraiser here? Are there happy hour deals for large groups?

The space is big enough to host an event for a large group of people, it would just be getting permission from the management.…

    Is it 21+ only?

    No! I've seen children there!

Is it dog friendly? I see they have a ton of outdoor tables!

Within the same week I was allowed to bring my dog in and then denied at the door on another evening. There is a total lack of consistency and the lady at the door basically said it was her decision.

Do they watch game of thrones here? If not are any phila bars having got watch parties?

Yes! We are hosting watch parties every Sunday for season 7. We had a great turnout tonight. We hope to see you next week!

The restaurant has a great two-level layout: a bustling coffee bar and small Italian market on the lower level, and a wine bar restaurant upstairs. It was a beautiful day, so outdoor seating was available, but after the hostess explained that the full menu is served on both levels, we opted to sit upstairs in the wine bar. Our server was fantastic--friendly, immediate, and quick to offer sparkling or tap water while handing us all the options. They offer a main lunch menu, a specials menu, and a great lunchtime deal with a limited $20 per person fixed menu. We started by sharing the mussels in a white garlic sauce. They were delicious, and the table bread dipped into the leftover garlic juices was absolutely delightful! For our main courses, my daughter got the spaghetti carbonara, and I ordered the chitarra pasta with red chili. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente and came in very satisfying portion sizes. My daughter's carbonara was even served with a savory bacon-flavored gelato on top! My only minor critique of my dish was that the pork was a bit fattier than I prefer and wasn't cooked as crisp as I'd like, but the flavor was still great. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we both got gelato. I had the amaretto and salted caramel, while my daughter went with dark chocolate and salted caramel. Both were insanely good--super creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Overall, the bill was surprisingly reasonable given how much quality food we enjoyed. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, but especially for that unbelievable gelato!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to try the chicken at Bud and Marilyn's, but better late than never! They serve a LARGE 1/2 chicken. I started with the thigh. I was smitten by the first bite. I was told the chicken is soaked in a buttermilk brine for 24-48 hours - dipped in a buttermilk dredge - covered with their 'secret recipe' seasoned flour - and fried in a 'pressure fryer' that cooks the chicken in 12 minutes. It was perfectly fried - so crispy - the texture and seasoning of the exterior coating was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy - the thigh was the juiciest - I didn't get to try the drumstick as I was too full! I had the thigh and 1/2 the breast. The breast is my favorite and I savored each large delicious piece I broke apart. It's important to pick up the chicken and eat it by hand - I did cut mine in half for a picture - but didn't use a fork to eat it - you lose the 'panache'of the meal. I didn't use the hot sauce served with the chicken - I brought my own bottle of honey and poured it over the chicken and biscuits. It was heavenly! Which brings me to the Biscuits! The dish comes with 2 large fluffy buttermilk biscuits - they were golden brown on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside! They had such a rich, buttery flavor. I took several pieces of chicken and layered them on pieces of biscuit, drizzled with honey! It was truly a 5 star fried chicken and biscuit dinner!

They definitely seem consistent, which I really appreciate. I came with a couple of friends on a Saturday afternoon, and wow... this place was packed. Even with the crowd, the staff stayed friendly and worked quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long for our drinks. One thing I still love is the seating. They have giant plushies sitting in the booths, so if you're by yourself, you're not just awkwardly staring at an empty seat across from you. Maybe I'm the only one who appreciates that, but I think it's a cute touch. The matcha here is the real deal. It's bright green, fragrant, and has that rich, earthy flavor with just enough natural bitterness that you know they're using quality matcha. A lot of places advertise matcha, but this one actually delivers. I ordered one of their matcha desserts with ice cream, and it was creamy, refreshing, and let the matcha flavor shine instead of burying it under sugar. My only complaint is that it was pretty warm inside. It was a hot summer day, and I honestly couldn't tell if the air conditioning was running or if it was just fans.
