8/18/2026 It's a place like this that makes me wish I lived here in the city. This was a random impulse stop as I was heading to an event and it was beautiful. What got me to stop was all the greenery at the entrance and the plant swap posters. I got a woodermelon that wasn't strong but very tasty. The scenery was breathtaking with plants galore. A solid looking food menu and a chill vibe with a slight breeze coming through. It was actually a plant swap/ terrarium building going on that day and all tickets were sold out so let's say they're pretty popular. This is the coolest place that I would gladly visit again for sure

This bar is so adorable and has a really nice vibe! I came on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too crowded, but crowded enough that it was fun. I sat at a table with my friend and I liked that you have an option of ordering at the table or going up to order at the bar. I got the piña colada, which was a little pricey but was SUPER strong and super tasty! I split an order of pretzel bites with my friend and those were really good as well, which is surprising for bar food! I like how there are lots of sections here and you can decide to sit at a table, the bar, or stand around.

I learned about this location last year and wanted to return once the weather got nice. It is such a beautiful garden oasis in the middle of the city. The service is relatively fast and you can either order from the table or at the bar. They have quite a few selections when it comes to food and drinks. The plant based chicken sandwich and cheeseburger were delicious. Great cocktails even if they are on the pricey side.

Cutest place to venture to on a nice day! Perfect weather to sit and enjoy a beverage today. I scanned the QR code located on the table top and ordered a Garden Spritz cocktail and Sidewinder Fries. It's convenient, quick and easy! They brought both my beverage and fries to the table. The employees, including the man checking ID's at the front were so pleasant. I'd love to check out the Manayunk location! I'm sure this beer garden would be really nice at night when it's dark, too.

I finally made it to the PHS Pop Up Garden. I have walked by it before and thought it was cute - so glad I finally made it in. My Paloma drink was delish and the scenery was very cute. Def will come back.

The PHS (Pennsylvania Horticulture Society) Pop Up Garden is simply a great place to unwind, hang out with friends, have a few drinks and some light bites. I love the outdoor garden ambiance with trees, flowers and ample seating. It's just a beautiful hidden away spot right on South Street in the Grad Hospital area. The food is average and its limited service as all the ordering is done via your phone. However, the service from order time to delivery was fast and the staff is very friendly. We ordered a few plates of Chicken Tenders and Fries along with Hummus and Veges. It's your average fare. Nothing to write home about, but you are here for the ambiance and PHS Pop Up Garden has the covered 10 fold!

Excellent and FAST service, usually beer gardens where you order from the table take FOREVER, but this was great. Drinks came out fast and correct. Hot dog was legit incredible and fries (not pictured) were also great. Would go back for the vibes and a snack for sure.

Drinks are 10/10. I don't usually like frozen drinks but they are doing something right because we loved the Piña colada and Strawberry one. I will be trying all the flavors in the coming weeks. The watermelon feta salad was ok - the ingredients were right but the watermelon was not sweet. The fries though - really good! They were fresh and seasoned perfectly. Service is fast! They were busy and packed on a Saturday evening but the food and drinks came out quick. PHS went above and beyond with the decor because the space is filled with plants, lanterns and vintage mirrors. This has to be the prettiest pop up garden in Philly. Especially this location, it is better than the one in Manayunk. There is no doubt I'll be a frequent visitor this summer.

The PHS transforms empty lots into gorgeous, lush pop up gardens with great food and drinks. What's not to love? There's a good assortment of draft beers, limited but yummy food options (with solid vegan and GF options), and TONS of seating, grouped into differently decorated areas. There are some TVs for sports, but they're blissfully kept muted. Great spot to meet up with friends and coworkers, since each person can order separately via QR code - no need to hash out how to split the bill. Also seems like a popular option for families with babies and toddlers, since it's really casual and there's plenty of space for strollers. The frozen Negroni was surprisingly good! The blueberry cosmo was way too sweet for me personally. Arugula salad was also yummy.

My friends and I enjoyed our evening here. Vibe was great . The drinks are fun and tasted great. Our pretzel apps came out hot. Service was quick via mobile app. One of my drinks was a bit icy so I requested a new one. Becky , server/bartender, was very helpful and offered me a new drink. I can't wait to come back

I met up with some friends at PHS on South Street for a couple of drinks and a bite to eat and I absolutely loved it! Straight away, I knew the setting of this beautiful place on this beautiful summer evening was worth the visit, and it didn't take long for me to know that I'll be back for more. The atmosphere here is everything, with greenery everywhere, coupled with stylish garden decor. The space is quite open and comfortable, with seating areas aplenty, with nooks and crannies for any size party in a relaxed, tranquil setting. Ordering here is contactless. The only thing you need is your smartphone to peruse and order from their menu of tasty drinks and equally delicious snacks. (The frozen blueberry Cosmopolitan was out of this world!) Within minutes of ordering, both drinks and food items were served by friendly staff, which was impressive for how crowded the place was. PHS Pop Up Garden has everything you need to whet your appetite for quick, tasty food and drink in a tranquil, beautiful setting, and I can't wait to go back again! Highly recommended!

My favorite place in Philly! came twice in the weekend I visited. I loved the outdoor garden feel, tons of tables, great places to reserve for parties if needed. Food menu was mostly like bar food but still tasted good, and lots of drink options! Easy table ordering and quick food delivery. A must do!

Happy hour serenity! I've had this on my Philly summer bucket list since moving here and am so glad finally got to enjoy the views and vibrations at this oasis on South Street. It looks like there's some areas for private parties, events, and the like, but you typically just arrive, show your ID, and find a suitable spot to enjoy some drinks and a snack or two. I wish I had my dog with me when I came, but I am hoping to bring her back to enjoy this space as well - super dog friendly with water and the like for your pooch to enjoy. I tried the woodermelon cocktail and it was delightful. If you're with a group, go with a pitcher for the savings and also the cuteness. They have decent N/A selection (Athletic Brew, a cocktail, and sodas), robust can list, and one or two decent wines if that's the kind of mood you're in. I recommend going for the cocktail and if you're feeling especially breezy, opting for a sweet frozen concoction and pretending you're somewhere tropical...not South Street. Excited to make this a regular summer tradition and grateful PHS serves this up to the community season after season!

Ask the Community - PHS Pop Up Garden

Do I have to make a reservation ahead of time?

No reservation is required. I visited on the weekend and just walked up and was seated almost immediately, however, there could potentially be a wait if they are at max capacity.

Is this place still dog friendly since COVID-19?

In my visit last month, dogs were there.

    Are children allowed?

Yes. The pop up is family and dog friendly.

When does the garden close for the season?

Last year, they kept it open until around the middle of October, I believe. I remember they held a pumpkin carving event around that time.

What's the beer list looking like for 2017? Local crafts brews still around?

Dogfish head, yards, victory. The usual local(ish) craft beers

Would be good to add that to the menu. At 1.50 per wing for 10 wings, two flavors to try would've been nice. There was only one server/bartender for the entire place. The upstairs was open but no one was using it. Free pool and mini arcade machines and maybe a dartboard I didn't see sounded fun. You have to go behind a curtain and upstairs. I went with a friend and it happened to be karaoke afternoon. I sung alright and my friend, who used to sing professionally, thought I would do horrible but I held my own and improvised. A couple of females liked my singing- I'll take it. Strangelove definitely is lgbt friendly. I sense there are some regulars here . Some women wanted to take my seat when I was up to sing and my friend could've moved over one but he wanted my specific seat saved. The women he told me about apparently didn't ask and one tried to demand and another just laughed it off (in what sounded like a how dare you be so pedestrian without saying it) and didn't want to argue. My wings were packed well as there were some napkins put at the bottom of my ToGo bag since there was leaking sauce and it saved the bag from getting soaked over. These extra napkins definitely made a 4 star experience a 5 for me. I enjoyed the wings enough that there is no picture and they are all gone now. Sorry! I was at a Yelp Event earlier this day. So I only ordered out because I really wanted to try their wings and not actually ate there.
