Veggie Wrap with fries extra crispy.

Vegan vegan vegan. With only one review on here using the word, it's time to draw attention. There are vegan options here. The veggie burger, vegetable wrap, and red pepper hummus with pita are all vegan. Yay! If you're into meat, you've got loads of options. Food spans a cross between gastro pub and dive bar (read: soups, chili, wings, steak tip sandwiches; quesadilla, nachos, and a variety of sandwiches.) Prices are reasonable and sandwiches come with fries or salad. The beer list is pretty long for a neighborhood watering hole. I snagged a pint of a great black lager, and also tried the Fiddlehead white which was nice too. There were about eight brews on draft and double that number in cans and bottles, plus ciders. Sitting under a tree trapped up in fairy lights on the outdoor patio was quite nice. Indoors is dark wood and a long bar and TV screens. Good place for sports fans or biergarten lunchers. Friendly service too. G'ahead, give it a try.

Stopped in a few times here, pretty decent neighborhood bar. Stop in for a quick bite or drink. Good number of sandwiches and small plates to choose from. Beer and drink list will meet your needs. Has some nice sidewalk tables perfect to chill outside on a nice day, or hang inside at the inside bar or dining tables. Nice spot if you're looking for something quick and comfy. Thanks

I've been living in the Fairmount Art Museum area for over 4 years now and I've been to pretty much most if not all of the food places around. Bishop's Collar is not among my top places to frequent. It's standard American fare. The restaurant is among the older establishments left. The service is good. It's definitely a good place to go for a drink. It's a bar. They have good selections and price for drinks. It's also a good location but that's about it. I can't say much about the food. It's just okay.

It very well could have been the pending new COVID lock down but I didn't get a warm welcoming feeling from this place. We got the Steak Tips Sandwich. It comes on a very good seeded roll. The steak tips were a little dry for my liking but very good. The smoked cheese added a lot of flavor. Very good sandwich. Very good selection of beer.

Outdoor dining - use the red door here for takeout or the side door for seating!

Me and my husband rode our bikes up to Fairmount today and had our hearts set on some Mexican food for a snack. Alas, Feliz Cantina was closed for the weekend! Such a disappointment. We wandered around a couple blocks and everywhere seemed to be super crowded and/or just the normal american pub fair. Boo. I seemed to recall ordering a snack from Bishop's Collar in the past so we checked out their menu. They had quesadillas and nachos, so we went with that to try and save our craving. We ordered them to-go because we aren't ready to dine out yet. They were ready quickly, which was great. We carried them a couple blocks south to the Art Museum area for a picnic. Neither were anything to write home about, but it filled the empty voids in our tummies. The quesadillas were filled with cheese and vegetables but there wasn't a lot of flavor otherwise. The pineapple salsa, which sounded amazing, was actually just chopped pineapples, onions, and peppers. Nice, but I wouldn't call that salsa? The nachos had some really poor distribution of cheese and toppings. There were blobs of stuff and then lots of dry chips. The green chips were new and exciting, but I've made better guac at home and that's pretty much all that there was except for the cheese and sour cream. I may just be sad that the actual mexican place wasn't open, but considering all the recent reviews that mention solid flavors and then us receiving some bland apps makes me wonder if those people work there or are related to the owner. Hahaha. Or maybe the meaty options have all the flavor and we missed out by going vegetarian? Still, I wouldn't write this place off to try it again. They did a nice job spacing out tables outdoors and they're on a quieter corner.

We have been here a few times over the years and the food and the drinks are always delicious! Another neighborhood gem! Fair prices for great quality food and drinks! You know it's a good place when people finish their shifts from neighboring bars and come here for a night cap. Service is friendly and done just right. We love this place!

Night of July 4th and hankering for some food; this spot not only had their kitchen open, but outside seating as well. Straightforward bar with your essential bar menu as well as some other interesting options. Decided to share the Nachos ($8), Chicken Spring Roll ($9), and the Risotto Balls ($10). Value for money is there as the plates are overflowing with food. Risotto Balls are 5 large balls that are well-crisped and served with marinara sauce. While the outside is cooked perfectly, there isn't much flavor inside (needed hot sauce additionally). Nachos are a layering of cheese, guac, sour cream, and beans - much of the plate was cold, and it was hard to get all the ingredients in a single bite. As for the chicken roll, the ground chicken was dry, though saved by the sweet and sour sauce that comes with the dish. All in all, not the best bar food - but the beer options are solid. Waitress here was nice despite the rowdiness of the day. Definitely come here for drinks, not so much the food.

I have visited BC in the past during beer crawls, Bastille Day festivals & a few Happy Hours w/friends. I have always felt the vibe was easy & chill...nice neighborhood bar. I like the craft beer & food oprions. This visit I had some food..the chicken spring rolls and Old Bay fries. It passes the test of good pub food. In tbe past I have had the burger and it was tasty too. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly- worth a visit.

I meant to update this review after my last visit a few months back but apparently forgot. I don't think the 3-star review holds true when I am actually a big fan of this spot and have visited several times over the past couple years. I don't live in Fairmount anymore, and I definitely miss having BC nearby. Why? - Bartenders are really nice. - Neighborhood feel. - Pretty good food. - Beer list wavers between good and excellent depending on the day. - Fast service. - Great prices. - Decent spot for HH.

11/9/19 The servers are hit or miss but that doesn't reflect the overall experience the Bishops Collar attributes. From a dining perspective, the food is pretty good. Seating area is pretty minimal so you'll have to closely monitor who's about to leave or who's looking to snag. Tonight I had the nachos as an appetizer and they were really tasty and filling. The chicken Parmesan for my entree was also just as good. I would definitely get both again. For those in Fairmount, the Collar is a homely bar that serves everyone and makes sure your experience is above par.

5 stars for Bud and Marilyn's? I recently gave The Love 5 stars for its fried chicken!…read more The Marilyn's Fried Chicken I had this evening was every bit as good! I'm not sure why I waited so long to try the chicken at Bud and Marilyn's, but better late than never! They serve a LARGE 1/2 chicken. I started with the thigh. I was smitten by the first bite. I was told the chicken is soaked in a buttermilk brine for 24-48 hours - dipped in a buttermilk dredge - covered with their 'secret recipe' seasoned flour - and fried in a 'pressure fryer' that cooks the chicken in 12 minutes. It was perfectly fried - so crispy - the texture and seasoning of the exterior coating was incredible. The chicken was tender and juicy - the thigh was the juiciest - I didn't get to try the drumstick as I was too full! I had the thigh and 1/2 the breast. The breast is my favorite and I savored each large delicious piece I broke apart. It's important to pick up the chicken and eat it by hand - I did cut mine in half for a picture - but didn't use a fork to eat it - you lose the 'panache'of the meal. I didn't use the hot sauce served with the chicken - I brought my own bottle of honey and poured it over the chicken and biscuits. It was heavenly! Which brings me to the Biscuits! The dish comes with 2 large fluffy buttermilk biscuits - they were golden brown on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside! They had such a rich, buttery flavor. I took several pieces of chicken and layered them on pieces of biscuit, drizzled with honey! It was truly a 5 star fried chicken and biscuit dinner!

Everyone we interacted with was absolutely wonderful and pleasant, ranging from the team members to our fellow patrons. I had a gin and Sprite to drink and I ordered the burger for some grub. I've been to TIME multiple times over the last month alone and have always loved the food, music,…read moreatmosphere, and service, which is exactly why I chose to bring friends visiting from out of town here on a Friday night. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience I've had. We had a 7 PM reservation and arrived at 7:15 PM. I acknowledge that we were late and apologized to the host. However, we arrived within the stated grace period. When we checked in, the hostess explained that because we arrived later within the grace period, our 90-minute seating window would still end based on the original reservation time. We acknowledged that and had absolutely no issue with it. What made the experience uncomfortable was how aggressively we were reminded about the time throughout the entire meal. We were reminded at least 5-6 separate times how much time we had left. Comments like "just so you know you have 25 minutes left" and "our next party is coming in 5-10 minutes" made it feel like staff was actively trying to rush us out before our reservation time had even ended. Mind you, we already understood the policy. One reminder would have been enough. Instead, it completely changed the energy of the evening and made us feel unwelcome and pressured to leave. We had originally planned to stay through our reservation and then move to the bar for the live music afterward, but after being repeatedly rushed, we decided to leave entirely and spend the rest of the night elsewhere. The most disappointing part was the interaction with the manager, Eric. Rather than listening or showing any understanding, he immediately became defensive and aggressive. He repeatedly insisted we were "15-20 minutes late," which was simply not true -- we arrived during the stated grace period. The issue was never the policy itself. It was the way we were treated throughout the night. It's unfortunate because this has genuinely been one of my favorite spots in Philly, and I've recommended it to multiple people. But this experience left a really bad impression, especially when bringing guests from out of town.

There are many tables, making it good for groups, but the interior is pretty bare. The wall is adorned with whimsical fox and chicken imagery, referencing the Hatch and Coop name. As of 05/2025, they supposedly offer 10% off your order by showing your SEPTA card. But, I'd confirm this offer before ordering to ensure it's honored. When I was there in the early morning, the cook (who also takes orders) didn't recognize the deal and didn't know how to punch it in. So, it was a bit of a letdown we couldn't redeem the deal, but we still wanted to try the sandwiches after hearing great things about them. I ordered The Hatch and Coop Sandwich (egg, cheese, chicken) on a round roll at the kiosk. You can customize your bread, egg (fried or scrambled), and cheese (provolone, american, or cheddar). The sandwiches come without any sauce unless you order sauce (extra $$) on the side. I highly recommend the Hatch Sauce- a typical mayo sauce with a little spice. I found The Hatch and Coop Sandwich to be just pretty good but I wish it had more heft to it. The chicken was juicy and well cooked, but I wish there was more. The cheese did the cheesing and coated the chicken, but the sandwich had far too many onions for my liking. With the Hatch Sauce, I felt the sandwich was tied together but it was a little odd to me the sandwich doesn't have sauce on its own. I'm giving Hatch and Coop the benefit of the doubt since it was so early in the morning, but I found my sandwich to be just OK. However, I will be back to try the fried chicken sandwiches, which I've heard rave reviews for.
