I really want to give this place more stars just for the food but there are a few things that I do agree with in the other reviews. Let me start off by saying this is located in Mountain Home, ID. It is clearly a mom and pop shop and I'm good with that. I love to support local businesses. I will agree with other reviewers stating that the customer service is lacking. A young girl took our order who was clearly interested in not having to work. I'm not sure she even smiled. But our food came quickly and we enjoyed it. We did only get one napkin per person and food like this really calls for more. Napkin dispensers on the tables would be great. Frankie's could use an update starting with the bathrooms. It is a bit run down, but if we are passing through town again, I would be happy to eat here over another fast food spot. read more

We really wanted to like this spot! Unfortunately, it would've been really difficult to enjoy our food at any point, because we were busy fending off a few stubborn flies. The atmosphere in general is not great, but the flies really made it hard to enjoy this experience. I actually really enjoyed my French dip sandwich and tater tots. I feel like they both really met my expectations. My husband's burger and fries were decidedly not good. Great local burger spot! Plenty of tables. You walk up to the counter to place your order. They have breakfast, but I was there to try the burgers. I got a simple cheeseburger with fries and a drink and really liked it. The single burger was generous enough for me, and was fresh and tasty. Fries were hot and fresh. I liked the special sauce on the burger. The only thing I didn't quite like (and this is just personal preference) was the fry sauce. It was mayo heavy and I like mine ketchup heavy -- so I just mixed in some ketchup! I also tried the caramel shake and it was awesome. Bonus: the prices. I'm writing this review to let everyone know that this is a place I would avoid unless you really want to listen to '50s music and get nickel dime for a mediocre burger at best. The staff is unprofessional warning ear buds while taking your order do you don't know if they are really listening to you. Then we didn't see them wash their hands after eating food before handing my food. I got tater tots instead of fries and it was a $1.45 up charge (look at receipt) even though tater tots are only $1 more than fries on the menu! Then got charged $.50 for fry sauce which is fine but $.50 for a cup of water is crazy. Over all skip this place is my recommendation. read more

Discovered this place while traveling across the country and looking to eat somewhere that wasn't a chain. The ambience wasn't anything special and didn't necessarily feel the cleanest. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak which was so hot I could barely eat it or taste any flavor, other than hot. My mom ordered a cheeseburger and said it lacked flavor. The fries were good and had a good crispness on the outside. The service was less than desirable. Appears to be a family run business where the kids are less than thrilled to be there. The girl at the counter asks customers to repeat what they've ordered frequently and doesn't provide enough napkins (which is needed at a greasy burger place). She also has fake nails which make it hard for her to pick up napkins, let alone are they sanitary in food service. The place has potential but needs work in all areas. read more

I honestly skipped this place because of the name, but I shouldn't have. I assumed it was all burgers, but really, they have many other options. The burgers looked great, but I tried the pastrami instead...it was great. The fries were awesome (not too greasy, good size, fresh), and the lemonade was not too sweet, all perfect for me. Ok the burgers here were really good- I had the Texas Cheeseburger & Hubby had the Ultimate. The fries were hot but needed salt and were nothing special. I don't live in Mountain Home, but visit about once a month. Every few months or so for the past five years, I've eaten at Frankie's. I've only tried their variations on burgers and they've all been really good. The service has mostly been good as well. Some days really friendly and other days rather quite, but never bad service or rude. My philosophy is to keep my expectations appropriate for the restaurant I'm visiting. Frankie's is a small town, dine-in burger joint. They're not a big city gourmet restaurant with a large staff and full management team. I think the food is great and they're doing a good job considering all the challenges they've had to face over the last few years. Give them a break. So let's cut to the chase, the place is kind of a dump. It was hot in the dining area, flies galore, and this was before the "flies of fall" it was August. The normal burgers come with fries, you don't have to order them separately like you do with the gourmet burgers. And quite frankly Mr. Euro and I loved the basic cheeseburger. They were delicious, cheese melted perfectly, yummy special sauce and the burger didn't taste cheap. If you don't want to be complaining about the price, just order a simple cheeseburger.
