This place is a mom and pop place with limited seating, however don't let the look of the place make your judgement to early. We ordered the 2 egg breakfast and the manhattan skillet. The Portions were perfect in size for the price. We did see the biscuits and gravy plate and those biscuits were huge in size. Local establishment with mostly an older crowd that serves breakfast all day along with sandwiches and burgers. Tried the daily special "Country Benedict" which was your choice of meat and eggs topped with gravy and served with hash browns. Very good but not wow. Gravy was thin and lacked flavor. Service was basic - maybe because I am not a local - but fast. Didn't come back to check how I was doing ("food okay?"), or more water, etc. Might have need an old-time bar was store at one time. Well, I've had 3 breakfast here. All 3 times were eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast, & coffee. The food is good, im a coffe snob, so it was ok, but not what I drink at home. The 1st time was exceptional. Good hot food and quick service. The 2nd visit yielded me slower service and a lukewarm breakfast at best. The 3rd time was again like my first. This restaurant's decor, including historic photos and a partially stripped brick wall, is charming, the diner vibe is very cool and the locals clearly like it. But I'd skip it unless you are a fan of barely toasted and very greasy toast, very greasy eggs, tasteless hard tomatoes and very weak, watery coffee. Located in the old Turner House, this historical cafe has nostalgic charm. A person walked by my table and the floor squeaked and my table moved a little. I wouldn't change a thing about it . Love it! Our waitress Melissa greeted us with a big smile and provided us with top-notch service. I have to say that my enormously large pancake was one of the best pancakes I've ever had. It reminded me of the pancakes that my great grandmother used to make when I was a small child. I had one pancake for portion control but I could only eat about 1/3 of it. The best part is the crunchy edges all the way around. You are not going to beat their prices either. We were pleasantly surprised to see that this place provided good food at a reasonable price. Came here on a trip from Boise to Twin Falls. Seemed like a nice local place, which it was. Under staffed, which seems to be too frequent. You could tell when we entered, since we were not locals, we didn't get immediate service. Employees working hard, but inefficiently. Ordered the soup of the day and a chicken sandwich. I was done with my soup before my husband's chicken sandwich even came out, although we saw it sitting in the window forever. Chicken sandwich was horrible, bun was burnt, no flavor at all, curly fries were overly crispy and ice cold. Took forever to get our check. Not very good- haven't been here in couple years - stints was closed so friends wanted go here get "loco moco" - I added toast and sausage links ( charged $3.50 and I got one sausage link! ‍) the gravy on it was really good - most of the hash browns were under cooked and "wimpy"not crisp at all, to added to the situation cut hamburger Patty (pretty thick decent portion $ and the inside was pink mushy and not cooked at all ....service was pleasant and fairly fast - be another few years before try it again for sure read more

Wanted a local breakfast place after storms drove us to stay in Mountain Home. This cafe is quaint and the local morning hangout with a group of regulars the waitress addressed by name. I recommend eating here! Reviews were mixed but we tried it anyway. Omelette was very good and plenty of food. Western scrambler my husband ate was also good as well. I've been to Manhattan Cafe multiple times, with each visit being incredibly different. As a formal server, my biggest gripe is with my most recent visit. I came in at 1:25pm on a Sunday (party of two), 35 minutes prior to closing and was turned away. As I understand that employees want to get out and go home, it is absurd that the closing hour is listed as 2pm, and was turned away. A simple resolution to an issue like this, would be to provide a Kitchen Closing time. Also, the seating/interior could use a major overhaul. The food at Manhattan is excellent. Decent stop for food. Small cafe where first come first serve seating on the honest system is done. Food was moderately decent. The killer Reuben had good taste with a sweet Coleslaw. Add some mustard and it was better. The omelet my daughter had was bland and boring. Pretty hard to screw up an omelet but this was one bite worthy. The toast was not toasted yet given a bath in liquid butter. The ice tea was not fresh. Gave it three stars since the sandwich was pretty good. I assumed when I ordered the bacon and eggs that I was ordering the meal, but the waitress told me no, those are sides unless you want the meal. Then got confused when I pointed at the meal. Glad I didn't get the meal bc the hash browns were the shredded bag kind and the toast tasted like it just had oil on it. My bacon was super crispy. So crispy it didn't taste that good. Charming little place. Food was good and we enjoyed it. The ladies working seemed busy from the lunch rush and forgot about us for a wee bit. They recovered nicely and offered free drinks. They were sweet and personable. I would suggest to upgrade the tables and chairs for more eye catching first look at the place.
