Sandwiches the size of an adult's head. This local tavern was a fun stop after visiting Road America in Elkhart Lake. We ordered a club sandwich & a chicken bacon club. Like I said before, the sandwiches arrived the size of an adult's head. Jar dropping is a fitting description of what we looked like when our server placed the sandwiches before us. The homemade bread was soft and delicious. The chicken club easily had half a pound of cooked bacon on it. Before we ever took our first bites, we knew we would need to go boxes. Wait, did I mention we had the most wonderful cheese curbs as an appetizer? Worth ordering but only if you split a sandwich!! There are a handful of booths in the front area along with seating along the bar. TVs in the main room. There is also a back room that would hold maybe another 40 people. This tavern has been in place for years under different names. I would love to hear the history. I could see a set up that would have been particularly useful for gambling & drinking during prohibition. The staff was very efficient and helpful. One person out front & one in back. We went to Frankie's after I saw an article describing it as one of the best burgers. As others have said, they are huge, 1 lb. on a custom bun. My wife had a reuben burger and I had blue cheese. Both were great. We ate at the bar and split some fries. Our bartender/server was terrific. Usual small bar charm. Their was a back room which I saw when using the restroom. Expect leftovers unless you can eat 2 half pound burgers. They have a 5 1/2lb. burger in one hour challenge which I can't even comprehend trying. We will return. read more

I had the Frankie's burger and it was both delicious and humongous. The bartender served because I sat at the bar to ate and she was funny and efficient. The bartender served has the authentic feel and look of a classic WI corner bar, which makes sense because that is exactly what it is. The menu had so many choices that looked excellent it was hard to choose. There was more dining area further back so the seating was much more than I would have guessed from looking at it from the street. The restaurant and bathroom were both very clean too. I just wish it was at a corner near me instead of being 2 hours from home, this would be a great place to have nearby. read more

I don't make it to Sheboygan often, so I made the most of an opportunity with a nearby wedding I was attending and stopped at Frankie's before heading home. I ordered cheese curds and a cheeseburger with just cheese and lettuce. The menu says the cheese curds are beer battered, but they served the cornmeal breaded kind I usually can't stand. Unlike other cornmeal breaded curds, theirs were not excessively greasy and were as crispy as that kind of cheese curd has the ability to be. I wish I had gotten mozzarella sticks instead, but the curds weren't bad. Diameter wise, the burger is HUGE. It is a thin patty, though, so the burger isn't impossible to eat in one sitting, but it is very filling. The hard roll was flaky and on the dry side, so a little messy and needing frequent sips of a beverage to down it. The patty was seasoned well and had plenty of cheese on it. The lady working behind the bar was a pleasure to talk to. It sounds like the road construction going on out front is hurting their business significantly, so I hope they're able to weather the storm. They have a burger food challenge that I'd love to try next time I'm in town. read more

Located in Sheboygan, Frankie's is a great spot for some spot on bar food. The burger is literally the size of a plate with a Sheboygan hard roll bun. You literally have to cut the burger in half to be able to handle it. Frankie's is a bit of a Diners, Drive ins and Dives type place, but definitely in a good way. The staff is attentive and the food generally comes out pretty quickly. Frankie's is a worthwhile stop if you're looking for that classic Wisconsin bar food type environment. read more

This place is known for their gigantic sandwiches and serving sizes. I like their burgers and fish sandwiches but their "Big Ass" BLT Sandwich (also Gigantic) wasn't very good. This sandwich has a pile of bacon ... actually too much! The bacon was cut in small prices and where fried pretty crisp. Not very tasty and a huge mess to try and eat. Bacon fell out all over the place and the sandwich just had too much bun. In this case, being big doesn't make it good. I'd recommend a big pass on this sandwich and to stick to the burger. Frankie's is a friendly neighborhood bar/restaurant that is a great place to grab a drink and talk to the locals while you enjoy a meal. Most of the menu is decent and the fish fry is pretty good. Based on recent positive reviews, we went to Frankie's for lunch on Friday. This was our first visit. Upon walking in, the tavern/restaurant had charm. Decor denotes the rat pack era. We wanted to have a domestic tap beer but all they served were craft beers. We ordered to Kolsh on tap and they were good. We asked the bartender what was good on the menu and she said burgers. We took her advise ordered a burger, fries ala cart and fried mushrooms. Burgers are large so she recommended you split them and they add a $1 split charge which is fine. Fries and mushrooms were served first with burger following shortly after. Frankie's prides itself on stating that all burgers are cooked Medium Rare which we were looking forward to. Well our burger was cooked Medium Well closer to well done. Not good. Took our first bite and immediately could tell the burger was over cooked. They serve a quality Sheboygan Hard-roll with the burger but the problem is there is way too much bun for the skinny burger. You would have to order a double for the bun to work. We had the Sinatra burger which lacked blue cheese but had tons of inexpensive over cooked bacon on it. The fried mushrooms were also overcooked to the point of being dark brown to almost black on some. You could tell the fryer oil was old and needed changing. The best part of the meal were the fries which were tasty and perfectly cooked. I've had plenty of great pub burgers in my life, unfortunately this was not one of them. Absolutely EPIC! the size of the burger was incredible and all the food was so good! We had take out as we were just driving though on a road trip but the takeout service was excellent. It's a bar atmosphere inside and but also they had Tito's on tap which was interesting. We will definitely come back next time we're in the area. read more

In town for a wedding and needed some lunch on our way to Kohler and saw the good reviews so we stopped in. I immediately liked the vibe despite the fact that there were only a few patrons. It had the classic Wisconsin tavern feel. A bonus with Yelp checkin is that you get a free drink! We started with their beer battered cheese curds which were very good and gooey.
