One Star Clinic, 5 Star Vet I have taken my pit mix here multiple times in the past, and every experience has been stressful (for me and my pet) and disappointing. The visit before this one resulted in my pet sitting in the exam room for 20+ minutes in a muzzle just for the vet to come in and inform me that she did not feel safe seeing him unless he was sedated. If it were not for my visit today, I would give the clinic one star. Dr. Smith saw us today and made the process as stress free as possible. She was calm, supportive, and flexible. If I were reviewing Dr. Smith alone, I would give her 5 stars! If you have an anxiety prone dog or a breed with an unfortunate stigma, I would recommend seeing Dr. Smith for the best care. Great vet & staff! Called to see if they would see my dog after his back end was ran over and they got me right in! We had no wait time and everyone was very nice & helpful. He ended up needing surgery and stayed a few days with them. They were great about sending text updates multiple times a day as well as calling to check in and give me progress updates. Pricing was very fair and I didn't feel like I had gotten robbed or taken advantage of given our situation. We have been taking our fur babies here for over 12 years. Every veterinarian we have seen, has been empathetic to us and so gentle and kind to our kids. Sarge has been a problem patient because of all his maladies but they have taken the time to look at everything. We were concerned when Dr P left (we all loved her) but Dr Stropes, Dr Record, Dr Smith, and of course Dr Mills have been outstanding with him during numerous surgeries, "overnights", visits, medication refills, etc and explaining why he has to be on certain prescriptive foods and all his meds. The only time I was concerned was when they were short Vets and it took a few weeks to get in for an appointment. We all think it's an emergency for our pets but in reality it is not. I had to take my chihuahua from Martinsville to Franklin Animal clinic for emergency surgery. The staff was EXCELLENT. I was very upset and a team member stayed on the phone with me when I got to Franklin and helped me find the clinic. ( I had the wrong address in my panic ) The ladies in the office immediately greeted me and they got my dog back into surgery very quickly. Dr. did an amazing job at saving my little girl. They saved my dog Marsha's life by forcing the staff at martinsville animal hospital to see my dog, who they'd seen the day before, but kept broken recording me saying I needed another appointment. Made an appointment for my poor sick fur baby . I told them she was sick and also was due to have her vaccinations. Took her in after waiting a week for the appointment. Said did not have time to do anything but her shots. This appointment was on Friday by Sunday we had to take her to Indy Vet. She was a level three, they immediately took her back and started an iv. My poor baby is still at Indy Vet tonight and we are praying we get to bring her home again but, it may be to late. If only they had taken time to run some test but they said they didn't have the time at this appointment. Why did we even bother to tell them she was sick when we made the appointment? Makes me sad to give this review but if it helps others select responsible Veterinarian care then it's worth it. We did business with FAC for over 28 years, many , many pets and many thousands of dollars, and always had tremendous confidence with them until the summer of 2022 when our small dog was stung by a ground hornet, we believe...possibly a snake bite, will never know. When we called to say we had an emergency they referred us to an Emergency vet over 2 hours from our home. We couldn't believe they were so cold/ callous about the severity of the situation. What I came to realize is they make the easy money on vaccinations, spay/ neutered but when u need them the most they are not available. We immediately found a new vet service that mist importantly aligns with our care expectations. Do not make the mistake of placing care in this group that has become focused on room turn over and the #'s business! Too big, not patient focused at all anymore!! read more

The staff at Franklin Animal Clinic's Greenwood location is outstanding. We took our dog Martha there for the first time recently, after she developed two worrisome growths on her face (we haven't had a "regular" vet in years; she gets her vaccinations at a low-cost clinic that doesn't provide comprehensive services). Martha wasn't the best patient (an understatement - getting a basic blood draw was a team effort). She was agitated and standoffish, but everyone at Franklin Animal Clinic was so accommodating and patient with her. The techs and one of the receptionists helped calm her with continuous offerings of peanut butter. And Dr. Robin Wagner was able to win Martha over eventually, thanks to her patience, kindness and a pocket full of treats! Dr. Wagner determined that Martha's facial growths needed to be removed. She prescribed a sedative for Martha to help ease her anxiety on surgery day, which we scheduled for one week later. Still, even after having a sedative, Martha was pretty rambunctious on the day of her surgery! Upon arrival for Martha's surgery, we were escorted into an exam room. A technician (who had witnessed Martha's total insanity on her previous visit), came in and gave Martha an injection - the first step in getting her ready for surgery. We sat with Martha on the floor, trying to calm her. The technician popped in once to check on us before deciding Martha needed more time to relax. The tech returned with a helper after several minutes (and I don't actually know their titles - let's just say these "techs" were "awesome animal people") - and my husband and I got to be a part of Martha's anesthesia process, which was something I had not expected. We lifted her onto the exam table, muzzled her, held her, and were there for the final calming injections and intubation before she was carried off to the surgical suite. They called us the moment Martha awoke after surgery so we could come retrieve her and minimize her stress. Dr. Wagner explained Martha's sutures - that her incision might look bunched, but the sutures were beneath the skin and wouldn't require a return visit to remove (yay!). In three months, the doctor said, you won't even see the scar. Dr. Wagner called today to deliver the biopsy results, and Martha does NOT have cancer! I have been a dog person my whole life. My husband and I have both experienced the pain of euthanizing a dying dog. Never have I experienced this level of care and concern from a veterinary staff. My dog had been throwing up for a couple of days. I took him to the Kingen office which is owned by Franklin animal clinic. I was a customer at both places and I had been a customer since Dr. Kingen owned the practice. He has since retired and had sold to Franklin. The vet took an x-ray and told me there was no visible blockage but the x-ray showed all the signs of a foreign linear body (a string). The vet told me I needed emergency surgery for my dog. She first tried to get me into Franklin and when she couldn't, she gave me the numbers and prices for 3 different emergency clinics. They ranged between 4,000 and 8,000 dollars. When I told them I couldn't afford it and not to bother setting up an appointment, I was asked to sign an AMA. I did so and left. My dog survived the night. The next morning I called Franklin to see if I could get him in. They accommodated me and took a new x-ray. They told me the x-ray still looked concerning and recommended surgery. They did give me the option of having my dog take barium and be observed overnight for 900 dollars but said that would probably just complicate the surgery he was probably going to need anyway. I opted for the surgery. After having to put down the money up front for the surgery (approx 2000) they took him in and performed the operation. At the close of business that day, my wife received a call from the surgeon saying they found no string and the vomiting was probably just viral. We were livid. There was nothing wrong with our dog. The next day I went to both practices. Kingen's to inform them their misdiagnosis lead to an expensive unnecessary surgery on my dog and Franklin to try to recoup some of the cost. The surgeon admitted he did not look at the x-ray they had taken at Franklin and I ended up getting half of my money back. I asked for all records from both offices. I have yet to receive the x-ray from Franklin. I noticed that at least one vet and one tech work at both offices. I later received a letter through email from Kingen saying I can no longer be a customer there. I had already ended our business relationship. I'm assuming it was a move to try to limit liability. Don't take your animal to either of these clinics. They either don't know what they are doing or they are taking advantage of people... read more

I have been looking for a good vet in this area. My previous vet in Bargersville was very rough with my dog, was trying to quickly get in and out of the visit and it just wasn't a great experience. We wanted a new vet and this week we got a new puppy and I needed a same day appointment due to concerning stool and this facility got me in same day thankfully. First of all their office smells amazing (definitely didn't expect that for a vet haha). The staff and vet were all super helpful, were patient and answered every question we had and treated us with kindness. We are making this our new vet for all our animals. Living in Columbus/Brown County area we have vets closer than Franklin but I wouldn't and won't trust my pets to any one else besides Franklin Animal Clinic. We have been going to them for years and I truly couldn't be happier! Dr.Mills saved our pets life from a tick bite that had symptoms that were showing more like a spinal cancer or meningitis. Thankfully for his medical expertise and the multiple personal phone calls Mr. T survived and is loving snuggling more than ever. This Vet is very very price competitive especially with the services you get and they have available. Anywhere in Columbus would cost me the same and I would get half of the services the Franklin provides for the same cost....so why not go where you are paying for more and better services?!? I will never go anywhere else - Franklin Animal Clinic has stole my heart and our business for life. I talked about Dr. Mills but we have seen other vets like Dr. Lee and multiple techs...everyone is just so wonderful and helpful. Only reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is the fact that the staff are friendly and appointments were easy to schedule on fairly short notice. If you are just looking to get shots updated or just a general wellness check they're fine, but I will never take a sick animal there ever again. I've been to Franklin Animal Clinic 6 times in 6 months for my cat who is having nasal and now urinary issues. I've spent over $1,000 and my cat is no closer to being better than he was the first time I brought him in at all. The only thing they did was throw antibiotics at me each time and when they didn't work they continued doing the same thing and it continued to not work. Then they prescribed some pain medication for us to give him to help make it easier for him to use the litter box, but didn't tell us that it was $100+ and was only a supply for three or four days. At this point I honestly feel like we've been scammed out of our money. When I called to talk to the owner to express my concerns I was told "maybe you should go see another veterinarian." I absolutely will be and I'll make sure I go see them with all of my future pets too. read more

After being given an extremely high estimate for a surgery my dog needed by a local (Indy) practice I was feeling very dejected because the cost was so far out of my budget. So I reached out to some friends who referred me to Dr. Mills at Franklin Animal Clinic. The estimate was a fraction of the one I was given in Indy. So I scheduled the surgery. For the week between making the appointment and the day it was scheduled I was a wreck. My rescue dog may be as old as 14 or 15, so the anesthesia was worrying me. But the day of the surgery I met Dr. Mills and felt very assured my boy would get the best care. And he did! Dr. Mills listened to my concerns and made me feel heard. He took extra precautions and even made sure my kiddo was fed special food for his GI issues. The rest of the staff that I met was also kind and caring. My questions are not received well by the technicians or other veterinarians in the office. This particular visit I was made to feel stupid and dumb and I was charged an obscene amount of money. I could never do justice to the kindness, professionalism, and all around do-goodedness that my husband and I have experienced at Franklin Animal Clinic. Residing in Indy, we frequent the satellite campus in Greenwood. But a recent turn of events brought us to the Franklin location for an emergency with one of our dogs. Four bloody pus covered paws, and one terrified dog mom entered... A much calmer mom and two bottles of medication exited. The staff checked us in quickly and Dr. Mills was able to find time in his already busy day to check her over and soothe my worried heart. He was an absolute delight to work with and he answered all my questions. On nonemergency visits, we go to the Greenwood location to see Dr. Hennessey. He always spends a lot of time talking to us about our concerns, explaining different heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, he even spent a bunch of time with us trying to guess what breed mixture are dogs might be. From the moment he walks through the exam room door, you know he loves his job and every animal that he treats. We've been coming here for a little over two years now, and I can't imagine seeing another vet because we love him so much! read more

We had to put our 13 year old lab down. While it was a not a happy experience, the staff here did an excellent job making it as pleasant as possible. They let us use a side entrance and gave us a comfortable private room. They stressed to us that there was no rush and we could take as much time as we needed. One of the techs even offered some of her french fries from her lunch as a last treat for our puppy. They made a sad experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible. read more

Read some of these reviews and decided I needed to share. We noticed a small swelling on one of our Furbies lip. Took him into be assessed and found that it was cancer. The vet we saw will go nameless but assured us that he had done oral operations before, so we trusted the vet. After the operation we kept getting delayed on when he could come home. When we finally picked him up we were upset, his nose and left side of his face was disfigured and he was obviously traumatized. We found that the vet didn't get all the cancer, we told them then that there would not be any additional operations, we didn't think he would make it through. He's at home now in hospice. His face is swollen and disfigured. His left eye is swollen shut. We are making him comfortable until we feel we need to see to his needs. If you have basic vet needs I'm sure they can do fine. If your animal has further, more complicated needs you should probably see someone more capable. read more

If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. I went in because my dogs needed shots and one of them was having some bathroom issues. Dustin, the tech, was very funny, kind, and informative. He spent 10 minutes in the room with me discussing the issues I had with my dogs, and also a totally seperate issue Mischief has with IBS and the terribly high cost of the food. Dr Pearson then came in and was VERY nice and super professional when she had to give my dog an *ahem* very intimate exam. Instead of just making money on the expensive food that my dog needs when he gets sick, Dr Pearson worked with me and did research on some homemade diets that I can try with him for dogs with digestive issues (those cans are $2.50 a piece and he needs one and a half every day he's sick and he's sick 3-4 days a month!!!!). I was very impressed they were not just concerned with the bottom line. And the bottom line was not terribly expensive, considering the care we got. AND - I left without taking the bag of food I had bought (I chose to buy one bag of food for if I was too busy/lazy to cook homemade food when he got sick) and Dustin not only called me to tell me I'd forgotten, but he watched for my car and brought my food out to the car for me! Talk about customer service that goes above and beyond! These guys really take good care of your pets. It's well worth my drive from Columbus. read more

We had our other pup neutered at the same age in bargersville and it was 125. It would of been over 400 if I took their 45 dollar e collar which I went and got at tractor supply for 15 bucks. I have never been so angry in my life. I've had this appointment scheduled for a month or two now, which was already hard to get and messed up my school schedule. There was an accident on the road, which made me get 10 minutes behind. I tried to call the clinic, but it kept going to voicemail, so I couldn't let them know I was going to be late. I didn't leave a voicemail because from experience, they never listen to them and/or return my calls. After I drove AN HOUR to get to this clinic from Bloomington (this appointment was for my cat's car sickness by the way, so this was a hard trip) and was only 10 minutes late, they refused to take me. It was a super simple appointment, no vaccinations or anything, so it would've only taken a few minutes. I told them how hard it was for me to get there and that the appointment was only going to take a few minutes, and they still refused. So now I have to drive another hour home with my super sick cat, without the vet appointment. So angry and will NEVER come here again. read more

Great staff. They really care about the health of your pet(s). We found out that one of our animals may have cancer. They came up with a solid treatment plan and even gave us an estimate on the cost. There are no hidden costs and they really stick to the estimate. Of course if something unexpected comes up, that's a different story. But they're quick to contact you and discuss different options. We've been through a lot over the years w/ Franklin Animal Clinic. From cancer, 2 ACL replacements to our most recent occurrence-our 13 year old retriever had a stroke. As you can image as dog parents it was a total nightmare for us. But Dr. Mills got us in immediately. He took the much needed time to discuss all our concerns and the plan going forward. He was easily accessible for the next 5 days checking in regularly with us. We are 3 weeks out and for the most part have our girl back. Dr. Mills was instrumental in allaying our fears. Dr Mills and his assistant Abby are Absolutely Amazing!! My American Pit Bull Terrier, Ace, tore both his ACLs and has undergone the TTA surgery on his right, and is recovering very well awaiting for surgery on his left. Ace is an 80lb hoss who has Severe Separation Anxiety. The staff was so amazing they kept Ace calm and stayed with him post surgery until I picked him up, everyone on staff went above and beyond way out of their way to cater to my big baby. Ace is recovering very quickly with zero complications. His right leg is better than 100% post surgery after 7 weeks. All follow up appointments are included in the price of surgery, which is very affordable!! I compared prices, and they are by far the best vet with the best procedures and prices. I drive an hour to to this vet and they are well worth the trip!! I would recommend Dr Mills and all their staff for any K9 needs but especially for ACL surgeries!! read more
