Came here for my Bach! It was so much fun and the wines were DELICIOUS! I left with 3 bottles, my cousins left with cases highly recommend the cake, sir Walter and cotton candy one!! They have a tasting flight and you CAN get slushies in it! Theres also unique wines like pickle????! Theres indoor and outdoor seating. They had a guitarist performing and pickle samples! They also have really good food and snacks available. We were given a tour of the vineyard and where the wine is made. It was very cool. The owner was a single mother and only hired women to work for her back in the day. LOVE THAT SO MUCH! Solid 10/10 experience. read more

We went to the tasting room on a hot Saturday afternoon. They have a lot of fruity blends. We ended up selecting some of their semi-sweet to sweet wines. Good blends for table wine. Easy on the palate. The outdoor seating was good and the live music was great. They provided great service in detailing the wines. What a fun although chilly visit! They have a small tasting room t,hat was very busy!! The staff was nice even though they were so busy. There were a test tube tasting and a small glass tasting. I got the small glass. There are some nice dry and sweet although I only like dry. We sat outside and enjoyed the fireplace table. Took home a video blanc and a red blend. I'm so happy we stopped. We were coming home from NYC. We found a few wineries to stop at on our way home. We hadn't been to many wineries in this part of the state of PA. This place was nice. The vineyards were large, and all over. The wine was very good. The one thing I regret is not getting a case. Only obtaining 4 bottles. Loved the place, I'll probably order wine to be shipped home. I see most people have left positive reviews, but honestly my friends and I had, unfortunately, a less than positive experience. Most of the workers at the bar were younger women, and we got an older woman which is not the problem, but she was just very unfriendly towards my friends and I. She just was very uninterested in having any sort of conversation with us about the wines we were trying, and she gave a ridiculously small amount of wine (compared to the amount the younger bar workers were giving to other customers) for us to taste. I'll attach a picture of how much wine she would splash into each of our glasses. Most notably, she did not give us new glasses after each new wine, or clean the glasses. I think that because we're young, she assumed we wouldn't care. However, we've all been to wine tastings before, and really don't like the idea of trying a new wine when there is still some residual wine left in the glass from the prior wine. It's just, frankly, kind of unprofessional. My friends and I felt unwelcome at this establishment, and we will not be returning anytime soon. read more

It's tough to rate Franklin Hill. It's by far the best wine made in the poconos made with Pa grapes. Comparing to wine regions that are known for making good wine, though, it falls short. Try the Trio, and you won't be disappointed. As far as Pa wines go, this would be 5 stars The vineyard is small and tough to get to so that drops the rating for me. Hours aren't the best either. However, if you want to try the best of Poconos wine, this is it. I'd actually recommend one of their tasting rooms first and then making the winery trek if you find you love them read more

A few folks have asked me what I think of local Vineyard, Franklin Hill Vinyard's ( @franklinhillvin ) product lines... I LOVE THEM! PERSONALLY, I'm a white/sweet wine kinda gal though, so last night, I compared "Carnival," VS "Cake," both white, dessert wines. I've had each before. I LOVE THEM BOTH BUT... Carnival is IT if you're enjoying a solo evening, during Quarantine and wanna feel nice and forget stuff WITH a fantastic but not TOO SWEET cotton candy taste to the wine! Cake is DELICIOUS (& taste just like its namesake), though a little sweet for some. I'd PERSONALLY suggest it for company. Franklin Hill Vineyards was an enjoyable stop on my Lehigh Valley wine trail. The grounds of Franklin Hill Vineyards beautiful and made for a great way to end my day. The staff were so nice and we started off with wine tasting and ended with a wine flight of (4) 2oz glasses wines of our choice. What I really fell in love with wasn't the wines (not that they weren't good), but it was Grammy Bonnie Dilly Beans!!!! It's their family made pickled green beans. OMG, it is to die for!!!! They also have a restaurant in town, not that we had an opportunity to visit, but I wish they had a food tasting menu with the wine. This is a great place to stop by on the wine trail and the scenery alone is worth the trip. read more

There is wine for everyone here and great snacks. This fall, they're offering fall sangrias like pumpkin spice and caramel apple! So good!! They have very fun flavored wines as well, such as Carnival (cotton candy) and Beach bum (pineapple coconut)!!! They also have plenty of drier wines as well. I've had the charcuterie board and the chips and salsa and both are great to accompany your wine tasting. The staff is very friendly as well and there was live music! On the 4th of July, we decided to take a wine tour at Franklin Hills Vineyards. Franklin Hills is part of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail and is the oldest vineyard in the Valley. The staff was very friendly and our tour guide was fantastic. Everyone was laid back but knowledgeable, so we learned a lot about this vineyard/winery. 28 of the 32 employees are women, which is pretty cool. They also have a mascot of sorts- a peacock aptly named "Franklin". He was hilarious. While we were on the tour of the vineyard, he would strut and shows off his plumage with some patent peacock screams if no one paid attention to him. Love it! They offer wine tastings of 6 varieties for $3.00 per person, or $5.00 if you'd like to keep your Franklin Hill Vineyards wine glass as a souvenir (who wouldn't?). We took the tour through the winery and a portion of the vineyard before we got down to the business of tasting the goods! Some of what I learned on the tour: The owner Elaine opened the vineyard in 1976, and the winery in 1981. Their grapes are French American hybrid varietals, which started as a Cornell University experiment to find a grape that would adapt well to the region. They allow the vines to grow for 3-5 years before they harvest new the grapes for wine. Harvesting takes 5-7 weeks a year and they usually start in the 1st week in September. They pick all their grapes by hand and their ideal grape sugar content is 21 to 22 "brix" (measurement used to determine grape sugar content). Their giant Bottler/labeler machine processes 4 cases per minute! And finally- The wine 'Sir Walter's Red' is named for Elaine's father, Walter who worked in one of the retail stores until he passed away. They renamed the wine in his honor after he passed. After the tour, we headed inside to do our tastings. The tasting room is also their shop. It has a large bar along with various wine related items and snacks for purchase. They have samples of the snacks out to taste (probably to soak up all the wine!). There were 5 of us in our group. Since none of us had tried wines from this vineyard previously, we each picked different wines so we could taste a bunch of their offerings. I was pleasantly surprised that I liked quite a few, with the Vidal Blanc being my favorite. Needless to say, we left with a couple of cases! There was a 10% discount if you bought a case of 12 and a 5% discount off a 1/2 case. You can also order their wine online at franklinhillvineyards.com. read more

I love this vineyard! And Funny Face, the sweet cat that greets you at your table if you choose to sit on the patio to enjoy a glass of wine. My favorites are the Simply Red (LOVE IT) and the Vidal Blanc, and they are very reasonably priced at $12 and $10 a bottle. I always leave with 6 bottles, and they give you a discount of course. The atmosphere is very relaxed and homey, which I love, and they've always been super friendly. Actually last time I was there I also bought the scented oil they sell, it's smells wonderful! My friends and I went to Franklin Hill Vineyards for Nouveau Weekend and loved our experience! The staff was super friendly, and the owner came out to talk to us and thank us for coming. Because it was Nouveau Weekend, there weren't any tours, but they had a special tasting and other snacks set up. We had one wine paired with a soup, and a pudding made with the pumpkin wine. Both were delicious and the girl helping with our tasting was great! After the tasting, we sampled some cheeses, and finished up with coffee and biscotti. We only wish it was a little warmer outside, so we could have bought a bottle and hung out for a while. Overall, a great day at Franklin Hill! read more

Franklin Hill has been our go-to (and favorite) wine for at least four years and we do sincerely apologize for the long long overdue shout out. If you're a fan of sweeter wines...this is for you. We usually walk out with at least one case of wine each visit (we're from NY and not available near us) with another case for friends, who we've converted! Our must haves include Sir Walter, Fiesta, Katie's Creek, Beach Bum, and Fainting Goat...to name a few. Stopped in at 4:40 got a glass of Sir Walter Red it was ok. Spouse got hop infused citrus hard cider and although crisp it was not very hoppy. Asked for another wine at 4:51 and was told I couldn't, even though a couple just started a wine tasting. A group came in as we left, not sure if they were served but they didn't leave right away they were still in there as we left. Didn't buy anything because of that treatment. Thanks Franklin Hill I can get a glass of wine anywhere including a bar or chain restaurant. I was in your establishment before closing time asking for a 2nd 6 ounce glass. This is one of my favorite wineries to visit. Their staff is so friendly & helpful, & their modest selection of wines are so wonderfully tasty. In the last few years they've expanded by building a beautiful tasting room plus an outside deck which offers a great view of the area. They also have a few outlet stores in the Lehigh Valley (I live very close to one of them!), but I love making the drive to the actual winery to enjoy the full experience. There was a detour so it was a little difficult and longer to get to, but well worth the ride. Such pretty property, a lovely store and a pleasant tasting. They have delicious wines. A larger winery with at least 25 varieties to choose from. Large selection of reds, whites, blushes, and fruit based wine all having both sweet and dry options. I prefer reds, but this is one of the few wineries where I will buy as many whites as reds. 3 of my favs here are the Simply Red, White Jade, and Kiss. The Simply Red is exactly how it sounds. Its a no fuss, no frill red wine. No oak or other "added" flavors. Just a crisp red that is smooth on the palate and paired very well with lasagna later that night. White Jade is a mildly oak, crisp white, with a slight musk aroma. Kiss is a beautiful pink blush in an equally pretty bottle. It reminds me of a white Zin with hints of strawberry and kiwi. read more

I went to Easton for the weekend and while my friends went snowboarding three other friends and I went sightseeing. We landed at the Franklin Hill Vineyards and had a wonderful time! We had a tour by the owner herself, Elaine and left with a case of wine. My snowboarding friends needed something to do the next day so guess where we decided to go? They had a wonderful time and left with two cases of wine! I highly recommend this vineyard. read more
