A few times while sitting in the waiting room, several patients have shared their stories of past experiences with other oral surgeons and discussed the vast improvements in their oral health once they found Dr. Quaroni. Whereas U.S. medical doctors seem to view patients as mere business customers more often, and don't bother to check up on them or treat them as equals, Dr. Quaroni is an exception to this decline of patient care and is, instead, exemplary in his care and treatment of his patients. I found Hill Country Oral Surgery on Yelp and Google and decided to give it a try. The office is clean and modern, with comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, and even a mini fridge stocked with water. The entire staff was amazing--from day one they made sure I had all the information I needed, and they were super helpful in checking in after the procedure to make sure I was doing well. Dr. Cavaretta really listened to my concerns, and because I was anxious, we chose to go the anesthesia route. Lizette and George (the day-of care team) were fantastic and made me feel completely at ease throughout. I was in and out quickly and am already anticipating a smooth recovery. Hopefully there won't be a next time, but if there is--I'm definitely coming back here!

So after a recommendation, I decided to reach out to Dr. Largent's office and see if I could get my wisdom teeth out pretty soon from the time of the call. They not only got me seen right away for a consultation, but then I was able to be seen for the extractions right away (which I needed with my busy schedule and the amount of pain I had been experiencing). Not only was I treated incredibly well, but also after talking to Dr. Largent and his staff, all my anxieties about getting the teeth removed were also removed :) The following week, I had the extraction, and it was incredible. I mean extractions are not fun experiences, and I had a minor anxiety attack, and Dr. Largent and his team immediately helped me breathe and feel relaxed. I was definitely freaking out and they made me feel better and not embarrassed. The extraction was easy and the recovery process was even easier. They not only made the experience wonderful, professional, and memorable, but also we got to talk about music (he's a musician!) and they made the whole surgery super affordable for me (they truly took care of everything!) A Warning to all who would use Austin Oral Surgery In…read moreOctober 2023, I underwent a skin graft procedure from the roof of my mouth to the lower left gum with Dr. Travis W. Kern, DDS, MD at Austin Oral Surgery in Austin, TX, in preparation for two dental implants. I was 76 years old at the time. The procedure lasted more than twice as long as planned (3 hours under general anesthesia in his office, without an anesthesiologist or standard Deep Vein Thombosis prevention protocols like compression wraps). Nine days later, I developed severe swelling in my right leg. I was diagnosed with three blood clots (DVT) -- above, below, and behind the knee. I was hospitalized, put on blood thinners, and referred to a hematologist and vascular surgeon. All other risk factors were ruled out. My hematologist concluded the clots were a direct result of the surgery. I now (20 months later) live with permanent vein damage (Post Thrombotic Syndrome). My mobility is severely limited and my quality of life has deteriorated. When I obtained the surgical report from Dr. Kern 5 months later, I was shocked to find that it described the procedure as "uneventful." He made no mention of the extended time, complications, or excessive bleeding that he admitted to me during a follow-up visit -- with his nurse present. In my opinion, this omission was deliberate and does not meet the standards of care patients deserve. I filed a formal complaint with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. After nearly a year-long investigation, the Board required Dr. Kern to take continuing education courses in Risk Management, Sedation of Medically Compromised Patients, and Record Keeping -- but imposed no public disciplinary action. He continues to practice without a public record of this case. I am sharing my story to help others make informed decisions. This was my personal experience and reflects my sincere opinion based on medical records and interactions with multiple physicians.

Dr. Kern gave him an anxiety prescription and use lidocaine spray to numb his arm. I was shocked at how calm and unbothered my son was. He had all four wisdom teeth removed without any problem. Dr. Kern has a calming presence anyway & he made my son feel at ease. They also did a great job of keeping me apprised of how everything was going, while I was in the waiting room. The entire procedure lasted less than an hour Everyone in the recovery area was extremely kind and helpful. My son doesn't even remember anything from getting the IV thru the car ride home. Dr. Kern even called to check on him and make sure he was recovering well the next day. The post-procedure prescriptions they used seem to do great for managing his pain, as well. Overall, I just can't recommend Dr. Kern and the good folks at Austin Oral Surgery enough! We will definitely be using them again when my daughter has hers removed, as well as any future oral surgery needs.

After leaving 2 messages and finally speaking with someone I was told Dr. McFarling "doesn't do that". I said, she doesn't do follow ups?? The front office person I spoke to couldn't elaborate on what it is she couldn't do and refused to schedule a follow up for my child. Between the ER communication and this office I want to lose my mind. We were specifically told to see a pediatric OMFS, this one told the ER that we could follow up there in a week but then decided no which creates more chaos and stress during an already sensitive and stressful week. Their billing practices are shady, misleading, and, in my experience, downright fraudulent. I was also nervous about the anesthesia because I'd never gone under any type of surgery before but it was a breeze and they explained everything well. In fact, I'd say that suffering with a tooth that was prone to getting food stuck in it was worth than having it removed. Dr. Voorhees has a terrific sense of humor and extremely skilled. He administered my IV and in minutes I was out and the next thing I knew I was being escorted to the recovery area. All I remember of the procedure is feeling a mild bit of discomfort and groaning a little after which there was a pause and I don't remember anything else. My only regret is not having Dr. Voorhees take these troublesome teeth out sooner. You will not be disappointed with the level of care.
