After a trip to the ER with several facial fractures my 14 year old son was told to follow up in one week with this office. As you can see, they reviewed the CT scan and according to our ER paperwork said we can follow up outpatient in clinic in one week. After leaving 2 messages and finally speaking with someone I was told Dr. McFarling "doesn't do that". I said, she doesn't do follow ups?? The front office person I spoke to couldn't elaborate on what it is she couldn't do and refused to schedule a follow up for my child. Between the ER communication and this office I want to lose my mind. We were specifically told to see a pediatric OMFS, this one told the ER that we could follow up there in a week but then decided no which creates more chaos and stress during an already sensitive and stressful week. I came in on Monday afternoon to Midtown Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with an emergency. I had an extraction at my dentist's office and the tooth broke during the procedure .Pieces of the root broke deep inside the bone and were not accessible without the intervention of an oral surgeon. Your office was contacted by my dentist and it was able to find me a spot in the middle of a busy day. Dr. Jenkins and his assistant were very reassuring (I needed that after a two hour unfinished extraction and a drive across town to your office). Besides being reassuring they worked like a well oiled machine. Everything went very smoothly and Dr. Jenkins was able to get the broken roots out. First, the doctors are great, but the office staff and insurance handling is disruptive, distracting, and costly. They don't call back, paperwork is misread and filed incorrectly, and I've been lied to. I was told that pre-auth takes 6-8 weeks (actually 48 hours), which delayed treatment for months. Earlier this year I was fortunate to get an urgent appointment with Dr. Luke Tibbetts. There was no doubt that the tooth needed to come out. Oral surgery is serious. Dr. Tibbetts sensed my anxiety and was calming and reassuring. The extraction was done with novocaine only. It was surprisingly fast and pain free. Throughout the procedure he and his assistant could not have been more considerate and friendly. He is a gifted surgeon! Not one, but two bad experiences. The first appointment...I showed up, sat in the waiting room for 15 minutes and was then brought into another room where I answered a few questions, they took my blood pressure, etc. They then told me that my surgeon (I was there for a pre-procedure consultation) would be in shortly. I waited another 30 minutes and nobody showed. I understand where things get backed up so I left the room, went to the front desk and explained that nobody bothered to come in and that I'd contact them to reschedule. They were very apologetic. No hard feelings on my end. It happens. I reached out again via email and pretty much had to beg (repeated messages) for them to confirm my reschedule date/time. The day before my appointment they called and told me that the time they confirmed was no longer available (aka double-booked) and that I'd have to adjust my schedule to come in earlier. Ok, no problem. I went in this morning, sat in the waiting room for 25 minutes and nobody came out to bring me back to speak with my assigned doctor. This time I just got up and left. It's disappointing that I didn't even made it to the stage where I could at least speak with my assigned surgeon. Very unprofessional when it comes to scheduling or respecting the patient's time. read more

The stereotype about surgeons is that they tend to be arrogant with poor bedside manner. This couldn't be further from reality regarding Dr. Casmedes. While he is an excellent surgeon backed by an amazing team, he's also warm, compassionate, and extraordinarily patient. I felt comfortable and at ease from the moment I met him and am grateful I had the opportunity to have him as my surgeon. Dr. Casmedes and his team excel at managing expectations and holistic pre-surgery preparation. This increases the likelihood of positive outcomes as they not only address the physical aspects of surgery, but the mental and emotional ones as well. The tech used is cutting edge and highly accurate. The number of cases this team takes on and has completed is impressive. The decision to opt for surgery shouldn't be taken lightly. That said, future patients are in the best possible hands with Dr. Casmedes. I have no regrets about choosing Dr. Casmedes as my surgeon and would work with his team and him again without hesitation! I came here for an infected tooth that was extracted and was my first time doing so! Dr Kristovich and her assistant Brian were wonderful and very informative. They provided me every detail of the procedure and gave me options. The day of the procedure I was very terrified but it was very quick and painless. The only reason why I'm not giving Midtown a 5 is the staff at the front were not very friendly and seem to cut me off when providing Information when I called in. Also, most oral places provide a reminder and they do not, email nor text. Other than that, the dr and assistant were wonderful! read more

I'm giving 5 stars to Midtown in part because of the excellent care by the surgeons and medical staff but also because of the administrative help that's available. Rejeanna will walk you through everything you need to know about what you will owe and to whom before the surgery. She was correct to the penny on my daughter's surgery and when my daughter got an unexpected bill from the hospital for several thousand dollars, I knew it had to be wrong. In a very short amount of time the hospital admitted that the bill was in error and didn't need to be paid. It's a relief to know exactly what you will pay and that there won't be surprise bills that come due once your surgery is over. read more

I had a premolar that could no longer support fillings or onlays, and had to be removed. I elected to use Dr. Casmedes for the removal and an implant procedure, which took over 9 months, but was supposed to be a permanent solution. This cost me about $9,000 out of my pocket after dental insurance covered only a small portion of the procedure. Three years later, the crown was loose. My regular dentist tried to retighten it, but it would not stay, and said X-Rays showed to implant itself to be cracked. She suggested I go back to the oral surgeon for confirmation and remediation. it took three months to get an appointment, which turned out to be with a new doctor who asked me why I was there and then scorned me for showing up without having the crown removed. He said everybody knows they don't have the tools to remove a crown from the implant to evaluate it. Three weeks later, I had an appointment with Dr. Casmedes after visiting my regular dentist to remove the crown. He said the implant was indeed cracked and the only thing he could do was cut out the now firmly imbedded implant and repeat the 9 month procedure. He agreed to drop an insignificant fee, but the cost was essentially a repeat of the initial procedure. Then a couple of weeks later they presented me with an unspecified charge of around $300 dollars for their services to tell me the implant was broken, something I had known for months. I would seriously suggest you NOT use this practice for any of your needs, they are uncaring, and really aggressive about being sure they collect. Terrible!!!!! read more

My last Dental Surgeon who was wonderful but she retired and I was reassigned to Dr. Jenkins. I cannot even come close to finding enough words or praise for Dr Jenkins. I haven't even seen the surgeon yet for my daughter's consultation, but the receptionist who took my insurance info over the phone was rude. The office doesn't validate parking for the only lot nearby, and I'm required to wear a N95 mask in the office while the staff is merely wearing surgical masks regardless of my vaccination status. I am a physician in town and at this point, even if the remainder of her care is exceptional, 1st impressions matter and this office gets a thumbs down. read more

Highly recommend the services of Dr. Jenkins at Midtown Oral. I needed a tooth pulled and an implant placed after one cracked in an accident last year. This was my first experience with implants/having a non-wisdom tooth pulled, and I was nervous about the process. Dr. Jenkins eased my fears immediately and has been a wonderful and skilled doctor throughout each of the many procedures involved in this process. It was like pulling teeth with this facility. No pun intended. first they required me to take another pano x ray. which they already had from my dentist. Another $85 for the same info they had. Then dealing with the receptionist for specific questions regarding billing seemed to upset them on a personal level. Now after trying to work with my TPA and getting info they need is a pain. All I asked for was a refax of my own office notes and they act like it's the hardest task a receptionist can do. I don't care if I need it resent once or ten times, it is my info and I need it. I am very glad I decided to take my services else where. over $150 for pointless services. what a scam. read more

I spent 8 years before I made the decision to have this surgery done. When I found Dr. Casmedes, I was sure I found the perfect doctor for me. Pre-surgery he and his staff were wonderful. They answered all my questions and made me feel very important. After surgery there were some unexpected complications, which were not of fault to anyone. The part that took me at a pause was that Dr. Casmedes made a decision about my surgery that he did not discuss with me. He cut my chin and moved it forward and completely altered the way my face looks in a way that I am very displeased with. When we discussed moving my chin forward in his office he said it was to "open my airway" after the surgery, when I asked why he did what he did, he said it was for " aesthetic facial norms". I was so very clear with him and all of his staff that I was Not doing this surgery for aesthetics. In fact, I was clear that I was doing this surgery for function. Dr. Casmedes took it upon himself to make decisions for my face that I did not agree too. Later when we spoke he went so far as to tell me that he showed me a 3D video of what he was going to do, as if I would not recall this. I am a 42 year old woman and I took detailed notes every time I went into his office and he never once showed me an image let alone a video. In fact every time I mentioned it, he nonchalantly blew it off and made it seem like "no big deal" (his exact words). But it was a big deal, in fact it is a big deal. This is my face and he did not have permission to do what he did. I don't know if it was because of the chin, but to make things worse, I have had numbness in my lower lip for a year now. I was never told this could be a result of the surgery. In fact, when I asked about what I could expect (many times over) this side affect was never mentioned. I can not feel myself kiss nor can I tell when I have food on my face and eating is still an issue. Aside from the fact that I abhor what he did to my chin for HIS aesthetic norm, ignoring all of my requests, I can't feel my lip. I would not recommend him at all. It took me over a year to come to the decision to write this review, hoping that Dr. Casmedes would attempt to make amends, hoping that I would get used to my new chin and hoping that I could feel my mouth again. None of these things have happened, so I am writing the review. I know this has little affect on him, but he altered my body forever not only in a way that I did not give permission to, but that I will be stuck with for the rest of my life. I hope you read this before you choose to have surgery here and I hope this reviews saves someone from the anguish I have suffered. read more

That certainly makes a difference when you are in pain. I have multiple complicated health issues with my lungs, medications and allergies that needed an experienced and knowledgeable Doctor. I found that in Dr. Jenkins. He can even go to the hospital for the very complicated cases. Not many dentist can do that. I know, because I called around all over Austin. He and his nurse stayed after hours to finish my tooth extraction, which , by the way was worked in that afternoon. He took extra precautions with me. Wow! Dr. Casmedes is an amazing doctor with a wonderful bedside manner; however, his office staff leaves a lot to be desired. The first surgery we had with him, the office staff was fantastic, but with my son's second, and now third surgery with them, the office staff is not helpful, doesn't listen to patient questions and does not return phone calls in timely manners. We scheduled a consult with this office for our kiddo at the recommendation of our Orthodontist to expose some teeth that have not come in yet. The orthodontist sent the orders prior to us scheduling. When we arrived for the appointment, I was given information for wisdom teeth removal (which is not what we were there for) and they were unsure what procedure my orthodontist was recommending even though the info was sent weeks prior. They attempted to schedule a wisdom teeth removal upon check out. I explained that we were there for a different procedure several times along the way during the appointment, but was still given a quote for a removal of wisdom teeth. When asking about the cost and insurance coverage for the procedure we actually needed, I was assured someone would call the next day with information for me and get everything straightened out. It has been three weeks and no one has called. I did see that my insurance paid out $103.00 for a consult for something that was not even what we needed done. I don't recommend this office at all and personally will not be using them. read more

Prior to surgery, everyone in this office was wonderful and kind and helpful. After my surgery when I was suffering major complications I was blown off and not taken seriously. In fact,​ the information I was given prior to surgery is not the same information that I was given after. This surgery has caused me so much pain and heartache​. Almost a year later I am still in pain, struggle to eat and have literally been ignored. I would not recommend them at all. Dr. Casmedes may be a good surgeon, but I discovered after the surgery that I am not the only one this has happened to. If I could turn back time, I would tell myself to run and go someplace​ else, so that is the advice I am leaving here. read more

Dr. Harry "Paul" Casmedes extracted 8 of my 10 year old daughter's teeth on July 28, 2016--4 baby teeth and 4 permanent teeth that had to be literally dug out of her mouth. I was so impressed by Dr. Casmedes and the entire experience, from start to finish. The offices were bright and spotless, with very modern and cool photographs of various Austin landmarks. The doctors and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dr. Casmedes did a masterful job on the surgery--my daughter had very little bleeding, and miraculously no post-operative complications or pain, which is frankly shocking.
