    PRIME RIB POUTINE
    Rory M.

We just had what might very well have been the perfect meal. We started with the escargot on mushroom cap special, the Prime Rib Poutine. The escargot dish was loaded with flavor with a delicious garlic butter to spoon over. The Prime Rib Poutine could very well have been a meal on its own, delicious beef, melted poutine and thick cut steak fries under the layers of beef. Our meals came with a side salad on a chilled plate!! All of the Turf's salad dressings are homemade, we both ordered the creamy cheddar dressing and it was hands down the best dressing I've had on a salad. It was similar to blue cheese but with cheddar. The Tuscan chicken OMG, perfectly cooked chicken with Canali beans and spinach with another delicious garlicky butter sauce and lemon. The Beef Wellington was a tender perfect medium rare filet mignon coated in a mushroom and Prosciutto in a flaky puff pastry. We ended our meal with Crème brûlée, it was our first time trying this dessert and it's a new favorite, it was so good we forgot to take a picture. The service was amazing, if I could give 1 million stars I would, I really can't wait for my next visit.

This place is OUTSTANDING. I had never heard of it until Schenectady's restaurant week and then decided to give it a try as their menu sounded amazing. Boy am I happy I did! The braised short rib was the most tender meat I have ever had and the crispy onions on top?? Perfection! Then I try my boyfriend's shrimp genovese and I cannot decide which one is more incredible!! We also got the crab cakes and pulled pork slider apps and both were excellent as well. Then for dessert, the hummingbird cake (a new fave of mine) and tuxedo mouse cake. I truly cannot wait to go back because I am literally dreaming about the short ribs, shrimp, and hummingbird cake.

My family and I celebrated my sister in-law's Bridal shower this Sunday at Turf Tavern. Simply put....IT WAS GREAT! [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the food, to the staff, to the special space set separate from the dining Restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Id highly recommend you think of them when you are planning your next BIG event!

Continues to be my favorite restaurant in the area. Solid food, amazing service, and great prices. Don't miss Turf Tuesday featuring three different main dishes plus salad for just $10

Went her for a birthday celebration . My first tone. Very friendly staff. We were a crowd of 12. Our waitress was on her A game. Never missed a beat. Quick to refill drinks. They started us out with a antipasto. Cured dry meats and cheeses. Peppers, and slaw. Crostini's. Very very good. Would go back for just that dish. Got the artichoke pedals. Very tender . I went with the Queen cut Prime Rib. Rare. Cooked perfectly. Side salad. Service was timed perfectly. My husband went with the seafood fra Diablo. Said it was good. Everyone was very happy with their choice. I heard the salmon was great too. Lovely place and the food was good. Can't wait to go back.

We had a great dinner at this legendary location. It's a rarity that all our kids enjoyed themselves but they won the whole gang over.

Good: Venue is beautiful (5 Stars) especially on a bright sunny day just as I mentioned in my prior review. There was ample room for a boardwalk for the fashion show and numerous tables for the raffle baskets. The new attractive white chairs with comfortable seat cushions were nice. Bad: The food served was not as good as in past under a different owner. Not even close. Salad and coffee were good. Served one flat bland roll with a dollop of sweet butter. No bread basket on table. The rolled chicken with a sweet bread and herb stuffing was terrible. It was over baked and dry. It was hard to cut, chew, and swallow. A small amount of gravy did not make a difference. Broccoli and sliced potatoes were okay, nothing special. Half of our table ate hardly any chicken. What a waste. The dessert was Strawberry Shortcake. The shortcake tasted salty. Service: Servers were pleasant, and we felt sorry for them only serving water and coffee after the salad service because it took the kitchen almost an hour to get the main dish "plated." We waited too long after the salad was served.

Our wedding was a perfect day and the venue, the wait staff, and our coordinator Ashley Dariano made it all possible. They just did renovations this year and the property is outstanding. Earlier, it had seen much activity during the 1751 French and Indian Wars and later, during World War II, it housed temporary billeting for war factory workers. Attended a family wedding here and the ambience was impressive. The food was on the order and magnitude of Michelin guide books. Views and vistas of the river and the manicured grounds were memorable, made doubly so during the splendid explosion of autumn foliage colors! Solid 5 stars. Even the water infiltration into our bathroom caused by a roof leak due to the two days of nonstop rain couldn't detract from the overall experience. We simply asked the front desk for extra towels and partied on (whilst the plumbers were called). My personal feeling is that they need to step up the food game. During the appetizer hour the shrimp and the meatballs were good, the little (cheese steak?) sandwiches were pretty greasy. At dinner, the salads seemed plated and dressed well beforehand (mostly cores with soggy croutons). The beef dish was good (I had a bite of someone's) the chicken (parm) was not good at all.

Pro's: The weather was beautiful and the scenery of the plush landscape and lake were great for a wedding! The main course was excellent, some of the best wedding food I have had. There was a lot of space and chairs for people to sit and talk outside of the pavilion. Ruth was great and very attentive to the couple and the wedding party and parents. Con's:The couple told me they had problems with getting questions answered timely and there was also confusion on who was a partner vendor and who wasn't. The wedding party didn't get any drinks or cocktail hour snacks while taking pictures. I heard from other guests there wasnt much being passed around and people were starving after waiting in line for a cocktail (one bartender for 150 person wedding). BUGS BUGS BUGS, thank god there was bug spray in the bathroom baskets because they were out and with vengeance. No water on the table- really odd, if you wanted water you had to go to the bar. Also, where was the champagne for a toast? Depending on where the ceremony is you may need to help elderly guests get up and down steep hills. All in all it was a great event for the couple. If the facility took care of a couple minor issues then they would have no problem being one of the best wedding facilities in the capital region!
