    Breakfast!

Such a wonderful, charming, beautiful B&B!! The rooms are immaculate and thoughtful. Felt like home. She also makes an amazing breakfast that fills you up until dinnertime. What a great find in Astoria!

Wonderful Host Pam and Dave! Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We stayed in the SUNFLARE ROOM and really enjoyed the sitting room overlooking the Columbia River. My wife loved the decor in the room and house, and Dave and Pam do a wonderful job with their garden and taking care of the FIRST POST OFFICE west of the Rocky Mountains monument in their backyard! The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is we would have liked one more pillow each (I am sure if I had asked, they would have found one) and lack of electric outlets on both sides of the bed so you can recharge devices and have them handy (but the House was built in early 1900's). Wonderful stay, we will be back!

AMAZING BED AND BREAKFAST!! Pam and David are the most gracious hosts ever! The breakfast was delicious, the room was cozy, the house was welcoming, and the front porch was beautiful and full of flowers. The price is unbelievably cheap for the service, great breakfast, location, and comfy beds. This will definitely be worth your money. Pam and David even wore their tie dye shirts with us one day. They are so fun!

There are only five rooms in this centrally-located Bed and Breakfast. Luckily, we got the last one! Othello, it was called. We had a super cozy stay here. The owners are chatty and knowledgeable, the house cat is named Penny Lane (cute!), our room was comfortable and had a nice view, and I like the options of adding extras (like the romance package. Bow-chicka-bow-wow! If red roses, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne won't get you laid, I don't know what will). Pam, the Innkeeper, was super accommodating with my vegan requests. She usually makes a chili relleno quiche for breakast. For me she provided a bowl of fresh fruit, granola and soy milk, and a bowl of strawberry soy yogurt with fresh strawberries. Pretty impressed. The only part that wasn't my favorite--the decor. It was a teensy bit too.... old persony? There are knick-knacks EVERYWHERE. But you can tell how much work and how much love went into this place, and how much care they put in everyday.

Excellent. Very nice stay. The added lookout, reading room is a bonus. Owners are very accommodating.

The City of Astoria requires that any business use its legal name in all advertisements, including Airbnb listings, so as not to mislead the public. I give special tribute to Ingrid, who works in the wine bar. She's personable, professional, and very enjoyable to interact with. However, this property, as they advertise on Airbnb, is not a Victorian property as they described. This false description was a deciding factor for me to stay at the Elliott Hotel, which they do not mention. Had I known that it was a hotel--which was horribly overpriced--I would have gone elsewhere. I was assigned the wrong room. In the ad with Airbnb, it stated (with a picture that was very attractive) that this was my room until I arrived at the Elliott Hotel, constructed in 1924. This is misleading information. The Victorian Era was between 1840 and 1900. When I read "Victorian property," I was under the impression it was a Victorian home built in the 1880s or 1890s, with elaborate carpentry and design. When I initially arrived in Astoria on the 17th, I was surprised to discover it wasn't what I thought. Things started escalating from there. When I told the front desk that I had booked through Airbnb and that I had prepaid, they told me at that time that they don't have a relationship with them. Immediately I was ill-informed. I corrected them, saying, "You do have a relationship with them; otherwise, I would not be here." Even though I prepaid $235.00 for the first night, I was charged twice. The unauthorized transaction caused a significant problem, which was resolved on the spot the following morning, very early. I want to commend Atticus for bringing a quick resolve by reversing the charges on the spot when I brought it to his attention. Nevertheless, this is something that should never happen, especially when they were informed the day before that the room was prepaid. When I expressed my concerns the next day, they would not inform me who made the error, and they did not take responsibility for their actions. Instead, they blamed Airbnb. And there was no apology. As a customer, I was terribly misrepresented and, at the same time, insulted by management. When a guest experiences such a significant setback, there should be an immediate apology. I suggest that anybody reading this review do their due diligence in finding an Airbnb that offers great value for every dollar spent. Because of the ad, I doubled my budget, thinking that I was staying in a beautiful Victorian property--but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I would recommend that you keep looking. It's one thing to pay $225.00 for a room, but it's another thing not getting the room which Airbnb promised. When I brought my concerns to the front desk, they made excuses, took no responsibility for their actions, and again offered no apology. The same happened when they made an unauthorized payment after I had already prepaid. The Elliott Hotel management may argue they reversed my charges--but they were obligated to. This should have never happened, especially when I told them the room was prepaid. I have a right to know the name of the person who made the error, but they kept that a secret. Apparently, the City of Astoria requires that a business use its legal business name in any advertisement. It did not appear in the Airbnb ad that I read. Naturally, staff blamed Airbnb rather than admitting they were at fault. Unfortunately, because of the circumstances, I had no choice but to stay a second night. Included are images of the room I was in (404). Since I'm leaving this morning, I apologize for the photos, but I wanted to share them nevertheless for your benefit. Because of the things that happened, I feel obligated to warn the public: ask the right questions before booking.

This hotel is that style, but the bathrooms were spotless and not busy. The location in downtown also suggests that many guests are just out and about having a good time and not hanging out in the hotel hogging the bathrooms. We certainly were! Our room was small, but just fine and cozy for my spouse and I. Our room included a sink which seems essential if there is no bathroom and was much appreciated. The room was pretty warm so we ended up opening our window all the way which kind of freaked me out because they beautiful old fashioned windows with no screens - I was convinced a bird was going to fly in. Later, my spouse and I agreed that this isn't very kid friendly, but I think this isn't really a hotel that many with littles would choose anyway. The hotel is pup-friendly, though and we were happy to see a few canine guests. The lobby and interiors are cute and we enjoyed a couple cups of coffee in the lobby both days just to soak in the ambiance. The lobby has a little thrift selection of cool items for purchase; a small mini market of snacks and drinks for purchase; and a lending library including games and DVDs which we availed ourselves of. Each morning, we had a lovely "breakfasts with a view" of yogurt, berries, cheese, hard boiled eggs, quiche, peanut butter, and biscuits. Although the kitchen range is not to be used for actual cooking, we were told it is fine for reheating, and found it perfect for our biscuits, quiche and ...chocolate chip cookies! Though a bit on the pricey side, we found walking to the Astoria Co-op wonderful for breakfast foods (and ice cream). The apartment was nicely cleaned, and the simple decor was perfect! We also enjoyed the little snacks in the fridge. Please note that the spacious, modern with historical ambiance apartment, in an incredibly gorgeous and convenient location more than makes up for the inconveniences discussed below. But I am including them in hopes the Norblad wants to perfect the experience, and also so guests might be aware. 1. While the gorgeous, huge windows lining two sides of this apartment provided lots of light and views, they do not stay up, and when we arrived in mid-July, all the blinds & curtains were left open and the afternoon sun had baked the 7th floor apartment. With creative engineering to keep the windows up, little air came into the bedroom and sleeping was made even more difficult due to the street noise. Availability of a window box fan instead of the floor tower fan which barely moves air would have helped immensely! Between closing all the drapes/blinds before heading out for the next day's adventures which kept the apartment cooler, and placing the small, round (dusty) fan we borrowed from the Norblad in front of the one bedroom window we propped open with a book, sleeping was improved due to the cool night airflow and the fan's white noise masking the street sounds. The bedding was quite comfortable, but the mattress was quite soft. And while the towels were also very soft, they were barely absorbent. (If the hotel uses fabric softener for towels, I'd suggest stopping as it is counterproductive to absorbency.) 2. Concerning Trash & Recycling, info about what can be recycled, and where to put our T/R would have been helpful instead of letting our can get full for the cleaning staff to dump. 3. Please consider installing a wall hung coat rack as there is no closet available near the entry. I imagine that on rainy days, hangin wet jackets would especially be appreciated. 3. Maintenance overdue: * The freezer is due for defrosting. Heavy ice buildup put strain on appliances. * The bathroom sink does not drain properly. * The toilet paper holder is missing from the wall, presumably where the two large holes in the drywall remain. (If not already done, perhaps the cleaning staff could be tasked with or reminded to let maintenance know when things need attention.) We really had a wonderful time in the Astor Building and look forward to a staying again next time! It is such a charming and convenient location!!!
