All the pecans I tried here were extremely fresh and these were on the sweeter side but tasted buttery and had a caramel depth of flavor. Chocolate amaretto pecans - $16 lb. - These pecans were coated in a milky smooth chocolate coating and had amaretto flavor, but no alcohol. I can see why this was one of their signature pecans. Honey toasted pecans - $13 lb. - These are lightly sweetened with a touch of caramel. The sweetness wasn't overpowering and these paired nicely with the other pecans. Overall I was impressed all the pecans that I sampled here! Service was incredibly helpful and they offer gift boxes to take back to family and friends.

(It was 8 days before and I didn't care. They were promised in five days.) Then I actually got a notification from USPS that a shipment had been sent December 3. Obviously it was not shipped until the day I called to ask where it was. They were sent to Dallas, Texas, then to Pennsylvania, then to Avondale, Arizona, then Phoenix. SEVENTEEN DAYS AFTER PLACING THE ORDER, FINALLY RECEIVED. The woman on the phone COULD have said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll credit you the shipping, or I'll send you an extra pound for your trouble." She could have said many things that would keep me as a customer, but nope. Nothing but snark and excuses and she hadn't shipped anything until I called to question it. I have thirtysomething years of experience in this field if you insist on a formal CV. But I only need to tell you one thing right here: Bagel Dots are a fabulous addition to the bagel game in Houston proper. If Aarti (the owner) is reading then you should do something about Bialy Dots too, because if you're not a lantzman yet by blood, marriage, adoption, or conversion, then you will get an honorary induction into the tribe when you conquer the bialy game. Bagel Dots do not seem to have a lot of press in Houston so here is the hot new local biz starter pack. Bagel Dots offer free delivery if your home, business guy enterprise, underwater cat breeding facility, or sex dungeon are located within the 610 loop. So unlike having to schlep over to Hot Bagel Shop and park in that cramped lot where nearly everyone I know offline has had their car hit by someone else: Bagel Dots comes to you, fam. So you only need to deal with the people who would otherwise be backing their big huge Texan truck into your parked and unattended car at where-ever your home, business, or "business" is that you are already parked at; you don't need to add the shitty drivers of the Hot Bagel Shop parking lot into the equation, as I presume they are all drunk over there being able to hit both my car and my brother's car in a very short period of elapsed time. I love delivery because who am I, a guy to drive all over town to get food? No. This is not me. Food comes to me because the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach - though I have been told that there are convenient detours, which is just scandalous. A dozen dots are $9. That is the good thing about grabbing a dozen, eat them all and feel like a big guy (4u) because you ate a dozen of something (put Mitch Hedberg's ghost to gluttonous shame that he preferred rice and devoured by the thousands.) Besides it being a refreshingly unique re-imagining of the bagel (like how Drunkin Donuts re-imagined donuts via the donut hole) the dots are made utilizing 'natural ingredients' and are baked in small batches so you can feel a tiny bit of love poured into what you are eating. This is the bagel version of how Annie Rupani approaches chocolate in her shop, the fabulously elegant Cacao & Cardamom. The little extra special attention they put into the crafting and the love in the small batches really just shows that they care. This doesn't come from an industrial factory and conveyor belt line that would frustrate even the best of sorts like Lucille Ball. Let's talk about my faves, listed in order because of reasons: "Jalapeño Popper" is a cheddar cheese topped plain bagel filled with jalapeño cream cheese. Lock up yo kids and hide yo wife, because this is one delicious monstrosity. It's a more sensual amalgamation of flavors than Hot Bagel Shop's jalapeño bagel with Philly jalapeño cream cheese. My extremely masculine ability to handle the spiciest of the spicy wins me a lot of dumb bar bets, so this wasn't spicy at all. But it had a very nice, pleasing tinge of jalapeño (from the cream cheese) and cheddar (topping) that finished nicely on the plain plain plain plain bagel. Any more flavors and it would be a mess. This was deliciously pleasing. I wish it was hotter but for that I need muh Guatemalan insanity pepper I am still searching for. "Asiago" is an asiago topped plain bagel filled with peppercorn cream cheese. [exaggerated Vince Vaughn voice from the film Old School] Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese! If you like asiago this will be heaven. If you do not like asiago this will be like Tina Belcher's twice-warmed over fires of Hell-Jail. "Kitchen Sink" is an everything bagel filled with veggie cream cheese. An everything bagel is a challenge because too much is overkill, but not enough is just false advertising because the gat dang thing is called the "everything" bagel in the first place - not the "almost everything" bagel. This one manages to get it right in an understated way. The 'everything' is there without needing to pick poppy seeds out of your teeth until the next Quarter Quell. I was skeptical about the veggie cream cheese because girlfriend, I would never order that off the menu of available cream cheese options - even if a gun was held to my head. But surprisingly, it provided a really crisp and understated finish and complement to the seeds on the everything bagel. Everything came together at the end without a flaw. "Nutella" is a cinnamon topped plain bagel filled with nutella. Put nutella on pretty much anything and I am happy. This is a nice, light dessert finish to all the other bagel dots you shoved in your mouth. This is a really, really good dessert option if you are sick of the cupcake thing after all of these years and finally want to board the Nutella train. And that's why I am voting YES on Bagel Dots.
