I had been dyingggg to try The Cottage Grocery and it did not disappoint. Such a cute little cafe with a market inside full of grab-and-go meals, boutique wines, and so many good things to look at while waiting for your order. We got a matcha, a cold brew, and two breakfast tacos and everything was really good. It's definitely a little pricey, but the quality and flavor made it worth it honestly. We sat outside after our workout and had the best slow breakfast morning. I already want to go back to try the baked goods and some of the premade meals because everything looked amazing!!!

This place is super cute! My friend recommended this place and I was excited to try it. There was so much to take in... specialty snacks, ready made meals (fresh and frozen), coffee shop, small charcuterie boards, baked goods!! I took home 2 ready made meals home and they were both good. I also bought an iced latte with coconut milk and it was pretty good. The only downside is the parking is very tight and limited and the ready made meals are a bit pricey but they are tasty and convenient. I will definitely be back to try the baked goods and more ready made meals!

Perfect hidden gem. Tad confusing at first since there are multiple sections to adventure. The cashiers were friendly when I was able to stand in line to get through to understand. The parking lot was nonstop and a bit tight but not much they could do about that. There is a lovely little patio around the outside. I ordered a sandwich which came from them whereas my coworkers did the cooler case. I could have spend hours looking at all the entertaining possibilities. I likely would do that in the future The sweet treat sprinkle cookie at the end was delicious. It reminded me of homemade.

Unfortunately there's only one in the city, but it's "centrally" located (get the pun?) off Westheimer and 610 near the Galleria. We frequent this grocery store a few times a month, and though the products are more expensive overall than your normal Kroger or HEB, the selection is amazing and worth the visit. Here's what I love about Central Market: the produce, salads, sandwiches, meats, seafood, wine, cereal, yogurts, bread, coffee, ice cream, spices - actually pretty much everything. Even their flowers are incredible. Now here are some pro tips; listen carefully: - if you want the real, full CM experience, go on a Saturday or Sunday. You'll feel like you're at Costco waiting in line for samples and trying to push your cart without running someone over. But if you want a quiet, peaceful experience, go on a weekday during the day. You have to work, you say? Take a few hours of vacation or personal time off and head to Central Market. It'll be better than your last few vacations. - they have an app and it's amazing! You can save 20-30% each shopping trip with their offers and coupons. Make sure you add the deals in your app before you go to check out. (This part is a little annoying.) - ice cream section: buy the Hellenika Ube coconut. Just do it. Taste it and you can thank me later. It will change your life. If you want to overpay for it, fly to Seattle and find it at Pike Place Market. - stop buying spices like peppercorn and coriander seeds in bulk that are stored in bottles and jars. Go to Central Market and just buy exactly what you need for your recipe. You'll spend 24 cents for this and 58 cents for that, etc. Not $5 for a jar of spices that will lose its flavor or expire after a year. And the big question everyone asks: Central Market or Whole Foods? Whole Foods has way more locations, but CM takes the cake. It's just amazing. Trust me.

Herbert's Specialty Meats on Richmond near the Galleria instantly took me back home. The moment you walk in, the number of items from Louisiana is delightful Their boudin, seasonings, and prepared items reminded me so much of my grandmother's gumbo, boudin, and rich, slow-cooked stews--comfort food that warms your soul. For drinks, I got the Mekhong Mojito and it was sweet and refreshing! For appetizers, we got the crispy squid and the crispy wonton- crispy squid was good but if you had to choose between the two, get the crispy wonton! As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. The curry broth with coconut milk was fragrant and with the toppings that came on the side (i.e. lime, onions/shallots, mustard greens, etc) enhanced the dish. The flat egg noodles were bouncy and the shrimp was solid. If you're stuck between choosing a curry dish and a noodle dish, get the best of both worlds and order the Khao Soi! As for my friend's spicy red snapper, I tried a bite and the spices/texture in the dish complimented the fish very well. For dessert, we ordered the classic Mango Sticky Rice! The mango was soft/sweet, the rice and sauce had that salty coconutty flavor. Aside from the delicious food, the interior is cozy and the waiters here were friendly and gave great advice on what to order. They have that street food vibe as a well representation of their name, Rim Tanon, which means roadside. With dedicated parking that fills up quick during peak times, it may be difficult to locate parking as it is shared with a few other restaurants and the spaces are quite tight. We tried their appetizers including Salmon Rolls (flavorfully packed with cream cheese, salmon, and spinach in a crispy shell and loving that actually spicy mayo on the side), Thai Style Jerky (deep fried and sun dried marinated pork and beef served with sticky rice rolls and side spicy tamarind sauce, a bit too dry/chewy), Fried Tofu (perfect little triangles, so good by itself or with the side sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts), Chive Pancake (deep fried and chive packed triangles with a slight chew to it, great by itself or with it's spicy soy sauce companion). As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. I'll be back for more when I'm craving some modern Thai food and especially want to try their curry dishes. Service was quick and efficient, attentive to refills on drinks and friendly!
