It's this cozy little spot on Joanel where you can grab coffee, a breakfast taco, a fully prepared dinner to take home, a bottle of wine, and a box of cookies all in one stop. Basically if you want to look like you cooked but didn't, this is your place. The chicken salad is famous for a reason. It sells out constantly and I get why. The pastries and cookies are fantastic, the soups and casseroles actually taste homemade (better than homemade, honestly), and everything is made fresh in-house daily. I've grabbed their chicken tetrazzini for lazy weeknights more times than I'd like to admit. Staff is sweet, the space is adorable, and the wine selection is surprisingly solid for such a small shop. Granted it was a hot Houston day outside, but the AC inside just wasn't doing it for us. That being said, this was my first visit to Cottage Grocery and I was pleasantly surprised! Everything sounded so delicious it was hard to choose! We split a summer salad and pretzel bun ham and Swiss sandwich (both of which were delicious) and had Teddy graham lattes (YUM). I had first seen Cottage Grocery on tiktok which made me curious to try it. I had stopped by on a Friday morning around 8:30 and it was decently busy. While there is an attached parking lot, I can see it getting quite full during busier times. I tried their iced latte with lavender syrup. For my personal taste, if it was just a touch creamier I think it would've been perfect but otherwise not a bad latte. My total came out to $6.50 which isn't great but not unbelievable. They also had a display of pastries that looked tempting but I didn't peruse much since I was in a slight rush. For the grocery aspect, they have lots of what looked like prepared foods/meals. Otherwise of the goods they offer it seems to be largely wines, some paper/decorative goods, and some other food items like pickled vegetables and tortilla chips. Not the largest grocery selection. The first time I came here I was so shocked at how amazing it was. I knew it would be great but it exceeded my expectations. I got the cranberry walnut chicken salad sandwich and a tiramisu latte with a cinnamon roll croissant. Everything was so freaking delicious and fresh and it was only around $20. I've been here many times now and I've never been disappointed. Parking can be a little tricky but I learned to not come at peak rush lunch hour. Service is great and so quick. They are known for their Nutella latte, but I wasn't feeling something chocolate coffee so I got their next favorite, which is the teddy graham latte. Been wanting to check this place out as I had heard good things about their iced lattes! I was lucky to snag a parking spot but the parking lot was still quite full late morning on a Friday. They sell a ton of prepared good looking food and pretty home goods but I did not get any of that today. I got the iced Nutella latte and it was very good- not too sweet but you got that hint of Nutella. I also got a carrot cake scone which was pretty good. Was recommended to come here by a friend for their coffee which did not disappoint. I have tried the hazelnut latte & their now signature latte- basically a dulce de leche latte. Both iced and I really liked both of them! They have a great selection of premade foods. Would love to come grab some of their premade meals at some point. I opted for their bacon and egg salad. Great flavor- and the roll it's served on is super yummy and just a little sweet to pair with the egg salad. I also tried the chicken salad- theirs is classic- has cranberry and walnut in it. The pesto pasta salad is flavorful but would do good with some lemon. It is definitely a popular place so expect to wait a little bit. The parking kind of sucks also. Such a cute little cafe with a market inside full of grab-and-go meals, boutique wines, and so many good things to look at while waiting for your order. There was so much to take in... specialty snacks, ready made meals (fresh and frozen), coffee shop, small charcuterie boards, baked goods!! The only downside is the parking is very tight and limited and the ready made meals are a bit pricey but they are tasty and convenient. Perfect hidden gem. Tad confusing at first since there are multiple sections to adventure. The cashiers were friendly when I was able to stand in line to get through to understand. The parking lot was nonstop and a bit tight but not much they could do about that. There is a lovely little patio around the outside. I ordered a sandwich which came from them whereas my coworkers did the cooler case. I could have spend hours looking at all the entertaining possibilities. I had a very uncomfortable experience at this store. While shopping, I felt closely watched and judged in a way that didn't feel welcoming at all. The owner, Julie, would stare for long periods of time, which made the entire shopping experience feel tense and uneasy. Even after making a purchase, the atmosphere remained unwelcoming. As a customer, you expect to feel respected and treated equally, but that wasn't my experience here. I left feeling uncomfortable and not valued. I was especially surprised given how much hype this place gets on TikTok. Based on that, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to it either the cookies tasted stale and the almond croissants seemed undercooked. I hope the business takes time to reflect on how customers are treated and works toward creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. read more

I discovered The Cottage Grocery early on in the pandemic. One of our Leadership members would get our Command Center, which I was fortunate enough to get to help on, a big box of assorted cookies from here each Monday. Once the box arrived each Monday, I would run over and grab the peanut butter one for myself. I am not fibbing when I tell you it's the best peanut butter cookie I've ever had. TCG is very close to our office, so I got some cookies for my staff last month, 1/4 of them were peanut butter. the staff loved them! I also discovered the best ginger cookie I've ever had that very same day. They aren't joking around with these amazing cookies. I also grabbed a couple of small exquisite looking salads for myself for lunch and dinner. I took my Auntie to TCG a couple of weeks ago, simply for the cookies, when we were in the neighborhood. No parking! The place was packed! This darling hidden gem, coffee shop, bakery, grocery all in one is so charming and quaint. I first visited this spot when it was Tres Market and picked up a variety of cookies for a friend's party at their house. The shop itself is so neat filled with gifts, grab and go items, and a large variety of premade meals. I could tell it was a neighborhood favorite with how busy they were. I'd love to go back and grab some of their meals. A separate time, I ordered 8 meals for a corporate lunch and learn from here during the work week. The food was homemade and tasty. I will say that the vendor they use for the delivery had a difficult time finding the suite inside the building and was extremely rude. I'm a long-time customer of the store. I shop at The Cottage Grocery multiple times every week. One of their managers needs better training asap. One night, I stopped by the store, having just left a local park with my dog. I was exiting my car, with my dog in my arms, and I was in the process of turning around to put my dog in the driver seat while I went into the store for a quick 5-minute shop. A youngish male manager (I think he has red hair-hard to tell as he often wears a cap), bounded out of the store to accost me in the parking lot and gripe that I couldn't bring my dog in the store. I have never brought my dog into the store and I have never attempted to bring my dog into the store. I told the manager this, and also told him that if he had waited about 2 more seconds, he would have seen me put my dog in the driver's seat. I told him that in the future it would be appropriate to wait for a customer to actually try to bring a dog into the store before saying anything. He backed off and muttered an apology under his breath. I thought about mentioning this encounter to the owner, but decided to drop it. SO--tonight. I was at the checkout counter, when a young man entered the store with his dog that appeared to be wearing a service dog vest, although I'm not 100% sure about this. This same manager quickly went to the front door and started loudly telling the customer that the dog could not come in. The customer said his dog was a service animal, and the manager asked him what condition necessitated the service animal. The customer seemed taken aback and then answered the question. Under the ADA, and perhaps Texas state law, it is legally questionable, if not illegal, to ask the customer to prove his disability. And the manager could have asked the customer to step aside, out of earshot of other customers, to discuss the matter. The situation was horribly mishandled and, in the end, I think the customer left. This manager lacks good judgment and needs a refresher course in customer service, at a minimum. read more

Tres Market Foods is a cute little neighborhood cafe and market for pre-packed meals, snacks, and desserts for the busy family + a local haunt for a bite. The calm jazz music makes it a relaxing place to spend a morning or afternoon! The menu is overwhelming, but you can just browse their fridge/freezer section of nicely labeled packages: cinnamon rolls, scones, dips, soups, pastas, casseroles, sandwiches, salads, entrees, and a lot more! There are chips and crackers, selection of wines, and a display case of baked goods (cookies, croissants, Rice Krispie treats, and cake) and daily sandwiches. The lattes seemed popular and looked pretty, and there's self serve water + complimentary lemonade as well. They have sandwiches sitting in the display case ready to go, and the ham sandwich was really cute with the twine and wooden picnic knife. The ham and tomato flavors were simple and fresh. Breakfast tacos were very straightforward and came with a herby green sauce on the side that definitely amped up the flavor. The oatmeal cookie tasted just like a Pepperidge Farms Santa Cruz (oatmeal raisin flavor) cookie and was just as soft but slightly thicker. Our subtotal was $27. They have about 5-7 tables for 2 people (but can combine to seat 4 people) and a nice parking lot! The spot was fun to try, and it's nice knowing there's an option for meals you can grab and reheat at home. The food was fine and but nothing spectacular in my opinion, especially for the price... that, and customer service was a quite chilly today (felt like they wanted us to leave the whole time, yikes), so I'm not itching to return. read more

The staff were quite friendly and helpful, so I didn't feel overwhelmed with the endless amount of options. My friends also ordered lemon cake, banana bread and various cookies and muffins. I can't wait to return to try their savory and hot foods. I'm also excited to try their tea blends. Although there were quite a few patrons, the area was not loud as all; everyone was happily enjoying meals. Their food is delicious and is great to pick up for a quick meal or bring to someone who may have just had a baby or has been in the hospital, etc. They have numerous prepared salads, which are excellent. Also, some delicious baked goods. You can pick up fresh food that has been put in their freezer, and put it in your own freezer for a later meal. They also have fresh casseroles that have not been frozen, that you can pop in the oven and use on the same day . If you're not white just don't come here expecting good customer service. Got there at like 4:20pm and looked around since it was our first time in the shop. Watched the white guy working behind checkout desk stare at us the whole time we were trying to figure out what we wanted. There was a white group of people in there as well that he was not staring down. Then he put up the sign saying the coffee bar was closed. This business just opened recently and nowhere on your website does it say your coffee bar closes 30 minutes before close, yet this guy sat there and watched people look at the coffee menu and instead of letting us know you just looked at us as you put up the "coffee bar is closed" sign? I guess he didn't HAVE to tell us but it would have been decent to do so or at least have that on your website since we came a far distance to try this place. Will not be coming back because the vibes were just not welcoming at all and I felt watched. Maybe he could tell we wanted coffee and was watching us to see if we would hurry up and order but I just really didn't like the vibes of the staff. Please at least put your coffee bar hours on your website since that is literally the reason this place is viral in the first place... I've come to Tres Market so many times that I'm shocked I haven't left a review yet. Tres Market is my go-to for buying delicious prepared meals for friends after they've had a baby, a big move, or other life event. They have both a frozen section (great for if you want to drop something off on a friend's porch and stay good for a bit, and it also gives them the option of when they want to eat) and a refrigerated section (great if the meal's definitely going to be consumed that day). The cinnamon rolls and monkey bread are amazing, and the chicken divan, chicken pot pie, grilled chicken breasts, and broccoli casserole are all great--I haven't had anything I didn't like. On top of prepared foods/meals, Tres Market also has a fresh section, coffee bar, and bakery. I've enjoyed their chicken salad for lunch, and the ginger spiced cookie was great.
