Finding gluten free anything, can be exasperating! Someone recommended The Great Bagel and Bakery for for gluten-free bagels. They have gluten-free Bagel options on the weekend, however the clerk let me know they often sell out fast. I stopped by on a Saturday and picked up an Onion Bagel to go. We had it the next day and it was absolutely delicious. Very good flavor and very good texture as far as gluten-free goes. Two out of the last three times, they've screwed up the cream cheese. The most recent time, they put very spicy cream cheese on it instead of plain cream cheese. If I had discovered their error while still in the restaurant, it wouldn't have been an issue. Receipt showed order was taken correctly. Beverage was good. read more

What a cool spot in Lexington! I visited for a music festival and needed a spot for some breakfast and coffee. This place didn't disappoint. I had the American bagel and a cup of coffee. The coffee was normal, but the bagel was outstanding. They make their bagels fresh in house and you could really tell by the texture and flavor. It was so delicious, and not overly filling like some bagel sandwhiches are. It hit the spot. The joint is spacious too to eat inside or to go. the place was busy, so the staff was busy, but very kind and quick. Great Bagel has all the variety of bagels and a satisfying breakfast sandwich if I want something of more substance. I was a fan of Great Bagel until I noticed an automatic 5% charge of "employee health & wellness" on my receipt, in addition to the tax and tip. Shouldn't the employers (and not customers) be responsible for its employees' health and wellness? Or shouldn't they be more upfront about this extra charge that gets sneakily tacked on at checkout? My husband talked me into giving Great Bagel another chance today and I took the gamble. Since it's Sunday, I could expect the gluten free (GF) bagel option to be correct. There's only one GF option, it's only available on the weekends until they sell out, and there's an upcharge for GF. Previously, we had to order upon opening to reserve one or two GF bagels. Since the veggie was previously my favorite GF flavor, I ordered two gluten free bagels and three other bagels. They were all bagged together. Might not sounds like a big deal, but avoiding cross-contamination is important for people with food allergies and/or intolerances. Once I discovered the error, I returned to the front counter and asked to speak to a manager about the issue. The cashier returned and looked baffled, as if the manager refused to speak to me and just deferred me to another employee. The employee went to get two new Gluten Free Vegetable (Sat & Sun only) after I explained that the GF bagels had not been bagged separately and I asked the employee to change his gloves. He reached in with his glutened gloves and grabbed two more GF bagels. Once I requested a glove change again, he removed his other gloves and without washing his hands, put on one glove to pick up the GF bagels. When he asked how I wanted the bagels, I simply asked that they be bagged separately and left the establishment. To top it off, the Gluten Free Vegetable bagel (again, Sat & Sun only and available in limited quantities) is super dense and tough (as if the dough had been overmixed--a frequent occurrence in GF baking) and not light and fluffy as it used to be. The quality and employee knowledge had decreased substantially, managerial staff is either dismissive or nonexistent, costs have increased, and employee health fees have been added to food costs. This place has definitely gone downhill since the pandemic. read more

They also have a basic lunchtime menu with fare like turkey sandwiches, hot brown sandwiches, salads, and pastries. I was craving a bagel and when I saw their website that they have Reuben's I knew I had to go. I was very disappointed to discover they have taken the Reubens off the menu. I ordered a New York style on wheat and an Everything bagel with cream cheese. They forgot to toast both bagels. I think they would have tasted much better if my bagels had actually been toasted. This is a simple bagel place that is close to my neighborhood. Feeling indecisive on our breakfast choices this morning, we opted for bagels (how could you go wrong?). Honestly, cost wise you'll end up paying a similar price to First Watch. We both got a NYC bagel which is compromised of lox, cream cheese, tomato, red onion and capers on a bagel of your choosing. He got a plain coffee and I got a cappuccino. Our total (after tip) was roughly $50. First thing to note is, you don't go here for the coffee. The second thing to note is, those bagels are well filled. It's not a small sliver of lox on these guys they have pieces layered in there with a ton of cream cheese. They are messy. Don't try to be dainty eating them just chow in. I've tried a few bagels from here and NYC has long proven to be my favorite! Will I continue to eat here? One and done! My wife and I each got a bagel sandwich and a sweet tea which was $30. Way overpriced and it wasn't even good. What's more, the tea was the worst we'd ever had, so much so that we had to switch into a lemonade. The most upsetting part about the experience, however, was that we were charged a 5% fee on top of our bill for "employee health and wellness" which was total BS. There was no disclosure that this was going to be charged. Really dishonest. NEVER going back. MILL ROOM SESSIONS at Great Bagel. Intetesting, informative and tasty event. An IntellIgentsia coffee tasting along with a presentation on the bean, from harvest to cup. Included was an array of "Us" vs "Them" bagels and pastries. GB is very particular about their products and the owner talked about using the best ingredients to create an excellent product. We have been eating here regularly for the last couple of years. We love the bagel breakfast sandwiches, specifically the American omelet on the French Toast bagel. The slightly sweet bagel with the omelet and cheese is a really great combination. We have learned that you gotta get there before noon or the French Toast bagels are likely to sell out though. You doesn't love a great brunch spot?! This joint is more of a order and take your food to go then seating place but they do have seating available if you want to eat your bagels in house. Quite impressed! I haven't been able to find a homemade bagel sandwich in quite some time. The bagels taste so fresh and perfectly prepared. Eggs are fried fresh how you like it, choice of meat too. I didn't try the coffee but I ordered an iced tea and it tasted delicious. They told me it was regular black tea, but it was one of the most flavorful I have had. They were very friendly, the restaurant was clean, well stocked and plenty of seating. The atmosphere was cam and relaxing. Very nice for going early in the morning! Love the taste, freshness and variety of bagels from Great Bagel. It's the closest you can get in Lexington to a real NY style bagel. My favorites are the Poppy Seed, Sesame & Everything. No thanks. I'll stick with Dunkin' Donuts. I went in at 9:30 on Thursday 7/6. There were no customers but one male worker was cooking eggs on the grill and the female worker was cutting bagels. She never greeted me but walked over to me only to look down at a receipt and go back to working. It was obviously a to-go order that was called in. So I waited patiently. She finally came over and stared at me like she was angry at something. She never said a word. It was so extremely awkward so I said in the most cheerful voice "Good Morning!!" Being a fan of the first Great Bagel, on Euclid, I had been interested in trying the new location. Well, that was a waste. I drove the extra 4 miles to the new location, and ordered one of my favorite items-the NYC bagel. I asked for it to be made open face, and it was. I guess what really stood out in my visit, is the increase in price. To be honest, I haven't kept up with what the current price for an NYC bagel, with medium coffee Is at the original store, but I had to ask the cashier to repeat the amount. Twelve bucks and change would've bought a nice, sit-down breakfast at a full-service restaurant. The bagel was OK, but I would rather have had one I usually get at their other store. It is spacious, which might be nice for people with kids. I had really hoped this location would be a big step up, but I'm going back to the original shop. read more

So this is a Brand new location and it is really cool the way it is set up. After ordering your food you can see them makeing the bagels though the glass and even milling the grain. I got the cinnamon Sugar raisin bagel toasted with egg cheese and bacon and it was fresh hot and amazing .Staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable!
