Breakfast place i wanted to try

So I have tried a couple of Cleveland diners all over the greater NE Ohio area and pass this place a few times a month without realizing it was a diner (thought it was just a falafel place). And therein is the lesson of don't judge a book by uts cover because this place looks too small from the outside and isn't much to look at. This last weekend I came here to try it for breakfast on the recommendation of some of my friends who were with me and I was pleasantly surprised. Walking in it wasn't too busy on a Sundah at 9am, and there were maybe 2 other tables that had people sitting in them and they just said grab whichever seat you guys want, so definitely a plus there, I mean no wait and you get to pick your own seat. We were greeted by a friendly waitress and had some menus given to us. Now their prices are super reasonable so we ordered some breakfast and I personally had a gyro along with some breakfast sausage and wow was it delicious. Like my gyro seemed to be freshly made, the veggies were still crisp and not soggy and the meat was juicy and warm. 5 stars would recommend the gyro. They also have a great breakfast menu and their salads are delicious (I skimmed off my friends plate). The food came out quick, was delicious and the service was great. Also everything is super clean there and it seems like it is a small family run business so if you're looking for a diner come here they have traditional breakfast food, middle eastern food, salads and stuff like a Philly cheese steak.

I really enjoy Frank's. My dad randomly found it a few years ago while doing some work in the neighborhood and the fam has been coming here ever since. We usually get the Franks special Mediterranean platter for 2. It comes with some schwarma-in-pita, falafel, grape leaves and your choice of hummus/baba and tabouli/fatoush. Everything is good and fresh. The garlic sauce and the tzatziki sauce are the highlights of the meal. Ask for extra. Prices are reasonably low at $10 or less for an entree and the platter for 2 is $21.99. Definitely worth checking out. Bonus that they have their very own (large) parking lot because it's near a trendy area where I'm sure parking is a pain.

We enjoyed this little place. Got the chicken shawarma plate and falafel and it was very well priced. Will come back when in the area.

Had falafel and hummus for lunch. Very average hummus and the falafel was too raw. Extremely slow service.

Brassica in Shaker Heights was such a good find while visiting a friend. I went twice in one trip,…read morethat should tell you something. Got the salad bowl both times with hummus and basically loaded it up with everything, and it just works no matter what combo you put together. Tried the chicken on one visit and the brisket on the other, both were fabulous. Fair warning though, the brisket is subject to availability, so don't count on it being there every time. Do yourself a favor and order the fries at least once even if you're trying to be good. They complement the bowl perfectly, and throwing a few fries right into the salad is genuinely a great move. Also have to mention the beer selection. Good local options and reasonably priced, which is a nice touch alongside the food. This place earns the trip back any time I'm in the area.

The hummus is also a favorite. I love a salad bowl with greens, hummus, falafel, special sauce, pickled cabbage + extra carrots. Don't sleep on the tahini chocolate chip cookies, either. Staff is all so nice when you go through the line to order your food. The restaurant is sparkling clean with a really patio area aside from the abundant seating inside. It's a favorite stop when I'm in the area for work.

Bakery + Mediterranean Cafe…read more I only drove by Assad's a million times, it was finally time to stop in. It's a small Middle Eastern grocery store with a small menu of Mediterranean food options. It seemed like a destination for grocery shopping. There were quite a few Arabic guests who seemed to be regulars and had friendly banter with the owner. It was great to witness communal feeling and hospitality. If you're grocery shopping, you'll find a lot of great products in the aisles. Products include olive oils, halva, dates, produce, chocolate, olives, frozen goods, dairy, teas, coffee, and a lot more. Countries represented in the aisles are UAE, Turkey, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, and probably a lot more. Few standouts are guava, hookahs, Yemeni Karak chai, and citrus with leaves still attached looking super fresh. Of course there's spices shelf with the most pleasant aroma that transports you to the Middle East. The aisles are a little tight, but the variety is impressive. You can find enough things to cook an elaborate dinner and then some. The grocery store temperature was hot. Additionally, there were comments overheard about broken coolers, which was disappointing. It made me question the quality and freshness of perishable and frozen food. If you're hungry, there is a kitchen at the front of the store with the spinning shawarma meat. There is a small menu displayed. There are also a few other options. At checkout, you'll find ready food - pitas, meat pies, and other delicacies. Nothing looked super fresh. You can place an order at the kitchen for the food and pay at checkout. You can order premade food at checkout and pay. If you plan to enjoy the food onsite, there is patio seating made from stone (see photos). The service was pretty friendly. I encountered a few store employees. They seemed genuine and welcoming. If you pay with credit card, there is an up-charge. I ordered pies - chicken pie and pepperoni pie. I have tried many pies at the local Middle Eastern grocery stores and eateries all over the city. These were my least favorite. The main problem was that the dough was soggy. Almost like they were frozen, then thawed and left standing out for awhile. Chicken pies didn't have enough spices, and pepperoni enough meat. I did not eat either after first bite because they just didn't taste fresh. It was disappointing. I would recommend this store for grocery shopping. I'm reluctant to recommend it for prepared foods.

Nice family owned place with great options to eat, nothing fancy but good local food. A+read more
