Best hummus!!!!! This is no ordinary hummus, you have to try it and you will be marveled. The smoothness and flavor will explode in you mouth like no other hummus. I been eating here regularly for a couple of years now. Everything is made fresh and is always exceptionally good. I most recently got a dinner for four and Mediterranean Market came through as expected. All the skewers (chicken, beef and kafta) are juicy, tender and seasoned just right. The rice is so tasty and moist, just how it should be. The kibbie and falafels are fried to perfection and is best eaten with the tahini sauce. The kibbie and falafel is a little crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The hummus is my favorite. read more

I loved, loved, loved the chicken schwarma pita wrap that I had here for lunch the other day. One of the best I've ever had. Not sure what spices they use, but its a winner. FYI the cooked food is strictly takeout - no tables that I could find. The market has a nice assortment of olives and middle eastern cheeses, as well as a custom butcher shop in the back. Most of the store is comprised of canned and dry goods from the Med and Middle East. If you like cooking this type of cuisine, this is your place for ingredients. read more

Your experience here will depend on what you're looking for. As many reviews mentioned, the shawermas are truly incredible. The beef shawarma sandwich is especially notable for it's authentic taste, carrying the right seasonings and herbs. Word of caution: ask for the hot sauce on the side if you must. Their hot sauce is basically lava masquerading as food; it overshadows any flavors your food might have and might give you a crying kardashian face. I just feel the shawarmas are terrific without it. Food is takeout only. The hummus from deli section gets a lot of praise and it's all well deserved. Its freshness is addictive. Pair it with the fresh pita bread that gets delivered to this store and you have yourself a simple snack/light meal right there. They do have a fresh meat section from where I haven't tried anything (yet). I can say however that meat section is neat and clean and does not have the kind of odor issues that are common with meat sections of supermarkets. As an international store, they have a good selection of Pakistani, Indian and middle eastern grocery items. My daughter n I go here almost every other week now (since we recently moved in this area) to pickup some fresh hummus n either grape leaves or tabouli salad n pita bread. All items purchased fresh n delicious. Sry minus 1 star bcuz a lil costly for our tight budget, but I guess U get (good quality) for what U pay for. Their homemade spinach/meat/cheese pies are the stuff of dreams and their homemade dips (baba, hummus, lebne) are mouth-watering. Best kept secret in Cleveland. They have the best vegetarian grapes leaves (and I like meat!). They have two other items in their deli case that are AMAZING -- garlic lebne dip and garlic spread (which is a smear on meats, veggies, etc. I like on my burgers too) Lastly, they carry "Jasmine" brand pita, which is superior to anything else made in town. read more

I love ethnic markets. This is a good one. Lots of Mediterranean staples. Sumac and other items that are not so readily available. They have a small meat section where I was able to get some lamb shoulder. $4.99 a pound. Not a bad price and also no easily found. They do a lot of hot food also and fresh baked bread. I wish they were closer to me. Out in the sticks where I live there are not a lot of dining options within a half hour drive. You need to learn to make it yourself. We have great farm markets at the actual farms out here. A place like this would be very welcome by me but alas I don't think the area could support it. Love the hummus! I swear it's the best. Me and my wife love then 4 person combo that come with chicken, beef and kafta kebobs. The rice is something special I keep trying to guess what makes it so good! You have to call and place your order at least an hour ahead of time. Absolutely LOVE the food here, and the prices are decent as well. In my opinion, the grape leaves are the best around; the hummus cannot be beat; the tabbouleh is wonderful; and the labneh is a must! My one suggestion is to change the hours on line to coincide with the correct hours of operation. I drove over 20 minutes this evening to arrive at 6:30, just to see a sign that said they closed at 6:00 p.m. (on line it says they should have been open until 9:00 p.m.) read more

OK, I understand my rating is substantially under the rating other customers provide. My biggest gripe - nothing is described here. So first off, we go there a few times a year (getting the car serviced at Sunnyside across the street). We will say the baba is top notch and the spicy hummus was very good. Grape leaves - just ok to us. We'd gladly try other products but nothing is described in the case - it looks good ... very good. Word to management - if you want increased sales you may want to tell the customers what you have! Especially for a culture that is unique to many customers. Even their prepared pitas/dinners have the same effect - there is a hanging sign above in the middle of the main row indicating what they have but no where do they describe it with any detail. Note: Tried a chicken shishtawook rolled and while the chicken tasted top notch, we did not care for the garlic sauce which was clear and light, not like the creamy garlic sauce others places put on. But, getting back to the prepared - their is no indication of where to order it - cash register, back counter, counter that holds the hummus??? We first tried the back where a man was cleaning the area - no acknowledgement whatsoever. We gave up so we went up to the hummus counter where they have a whole host of different looking items. I personally am not that guy that asks about everything - "what is that?" or "OK, i don't know what you just said so describe it further." Plus when I am in there the man around the hummus counter is running around to the cash register, getting things from the back, etc. He doesn't have time for my 50 questions. Note: However, they have answered all my questions when I have asked in the past! Final gripe - came in on Wednesday - Halloween around 10:30. Saw a lady pushing spinich pies on a cart to the front area. Asked if I could buy a couple spinich pies - answer: nope - that's for an order. We have none!" So I will go in, ask for my baba - happily pay for it. Buy Jasmine pita bread (which is exceptional and made in Cleveland) and call it a day. A lot of missed sales there but ... oh well!!! read more

I absolutely love this place. A friend of mine recommended trying this place about a year ago and I've been going ever since. Nice people who own it and are always very friendly. Good fresh meats and they offer kefta made with only beef, which is how I like it. I gotta say their hummos, tabouleh, and spinach pies are the best I've ever had and their pita is always nice and fresh. I've tried other places and nothing compares. There's so much I haven't tried yet! To give you a little info on some of what they carry: Bulk spices, fresh produce, pita, fresh halal meat and chicken, small frozen section, lebne, cookies, canned and jarred foods, a deli case with an assortment of fresh olives, cheeses, and dips. You can order hot food as well like falafel, gyro, shawarma, and many others. They usually have fresh spinach, meat, and cheese pies up front by the register. This is a regular ethnic-type grocery store and pretty run of the mill in that sense. If you like those, it's a good deal but not unbelievable. The reason you HAVE to go here though is they've got the best hummus EVER and lots of other delicious things in the case--tabouli, lebnah, spinach/meat pies, breads, and more. It's soooo good and prices are pretty great too. So stop driving by it on Pearl and thinking it's just another dingy ethnic market in a crappy plaza. It's not, it's hummus heaven! read more

I absolutely love ethnic groceries, and this one is no exception. The name of this place is "Mediterranean Market" but I would say it's Pan-Middle Eastern. They carry everything from specialty pantry items, to Mediterranean dairy and cheeses, to fresh produce, to spices, to Halal meats, to freshly made bakery and sides, I even saw some South Asian ingredients here. I rarely ever find the need to stop in an Arabic grocery store, but happened to be in need of a particular ingredient and a friend referred me here. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was inside, and I saw a lot of people popping in and out even on a Monday evening. I found everything I needed very easily (it's a pretty small grocery despite the variety of items they carry) and they had at least 3 or 4 people working there, so there was no trouble getting service (which can often be an issue with smaller groceries like these). I ended up getting the pomegranate molasses I needed, as well as some other items that caught my eye. I was looking around for Zataar bread, but they didn't have any on the floor. I asked the gentleman at the counter and he was happy to grab me one from the back. He was eager to even have me try some of a fresh batch of dates they had just gotten in from California. You could tell he was really proud of his products, and was extremely friendly in terms of his service. I think this place is great whether you need one item, or a bunch of stuff. You could easily get everything you need for a meal here.... I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of the ready made items such as hummus and other dips! read more

I shopped at the Mediterranean Market on Saturday, June 24, 2017, and a very nice young lady waited on me.  Among my purchases I requested a pound of Bulgarian Feta Cheese, which I was planning to take with other things as a side dish to someone's home.  It did not occur to me to examine the Feta after the young lady put it with my other purchases, unfortunately that was a mistake, it appears that she may have been inexperienced in cutting and packaging Feta.  As when I returned home and took my purchases out of the bags, I noticed I did not have a piece of Feta, it was Feta crumbles!   This may be due to attempting to squeeze the Feta in a container way too small.  In addition, being given too much Feta almost 1 and a half pounds, plus it appears she may have overlooked wiping off the knife too, it had some bits of something on the Feta, which resulted in Feta that is unusable.  Thought someone could use this information to show this young lady how to handle, weigh and package the cheeses properly.  Since this was the first time I ever experienced this from this store, thought I would share, to avoid a similar experience in the future.  Tried several times to call the store, hoping to exchange the Feta, however the line is consistently busy.  The E-Mail Address is invalid as well, as the Website on their business card, so I made ever attempt to enable them to rectify.
