Server did not listen to what I ordered and brought the items I requested be left off. What did arrive was overdone.

Where to start? This meal is one that I will remember forever and this restaurant would be my reason to come back to Sault St Marie. The food was amazing, memorable, delicious. The staff were such a huge help making sure we ordered correctly and providing suggestions super friendly staff service could not possibly have been better. The food in the breakfast pig is the star attraction. As the name says, when you go for the first time, have something that has pork in it. I had the porky's Benny with pulled pork, my partner had the 5-0, bacon eggs on a fried and toasted doughnut. All was very tasty. The home fries were cooked well and were flavourful. This is my biggest complaint at most breakfast places, the home fries are often overlooked either having no flavour or being cooked too long / not long enough. At the breakfast pig they are a nice addition not just an after thought. Parking is limited at the location and when we went in we were told we wouldn't have to wait too long, then had to wait half an hour. I realize the staff can only guess how long it will be for tables to free up, but this put a bit of a damper on the experience. Overall a great restaurant with lots of great options on the menu. We come to Sault St Marie once a year and every time we do I will reccomend we come here. read more

My first trip here was an interesting one- we came in and checked in on a tablet. A lady came over and let us know it'd be 10 minutes, and after 24 minutes, we were finally seated. The place was very small but cozy inside with a lot of tile work and art, many tables having shelves of hot sauce for decoration. We got our whole order in immediately and I found the pineapple mimosa to be pretty good, the acidic pineapple balancing out the champagne well. The spiked coffee was not very good according to the birthday girl, but was drank regardless. Our server was fairly clueless and couldn't answer many questions, her knowledge of the menu didn't match the promoted menu which left us confused at times that around 20% of it wasn't offered anymore. We often couldn't find her and she is the main reason that our trip earned four stars and not five. The food was the shining star here despite high prices, the French toast was very vanilla in flavor and the brown butter brought a lot of sweetness. Not nearly enough syrup was given but we didn't want to risk being charged for more and couldn't find our waitress anyways, so we went without. The bacon was the biggest disappointment for the food, paper thin and tasted like microwave bacon. It also blew my mind that two half strips of paper bacon cost $5.50 when the huge bowl of homestyle fries was $5, I love bacon but felt disgusted and cheated by what I was served. The potatoes were delightfully crispy and the hot sauce and egg added the perfect flavor boost to the meal. If this place stepped up their bacon game and got good quality meat, this place would be somewhere I'd be yearning for every week. read more

The menu on the restaurant's website has a vegan "Just Beyond" plate. When I traveled to the restaurant and attempted to order it, I was told that I looked at an "old menu" and there was indeed no Just Beyond option. I rarely give 5 stars, but I can't find anything to criticize about The Breakfast Pig. Had to kill time while having a car tire replaced nearby so I popped in for a bite. Cool building,, very clean as well. The servers were cheerful and physically well put together which is increasingly rare these days. I had the bottomless coffee which was smooth but not overpowering, as diner coffee should be. And the basic breakfast with Back Bacon. The baked in house sourdough toast was a great touch. Great sit-down breakfast spot in the heart of Sault Ste. Marie. Walked in to the busy restaurant and was greeted by the graceful smell of breakfast pancakes, sausages and coffee. We ordered the Korean Chicken Mac & Cheese and the Cream & Berries crepe. Mac and cheese was good! The only flaw was the chicken itself was overwhelming and a tad salty, but nonetheless, was still very good. Crepe was filled with fresh fruit and had yummy whipped cream on top. Came here on a Friday morning around 10am for takeout. The patio was setup to welcome customers and about 50% of the tables were occupied. It is quite popular as more people showed up while we waited. There was also some seating available inside. Hand sanitizer was available and we saw waitresses wiping down the tables after customers left. Food-wise, the egg Benedict tasted great. Although their basic eggs, sausage, toast and home fries was a big let down. Scrambled eggs were flat and sausages were dry. They also tried to encourage us dine in because they didn't want their kitchen overloaded with too many takeout orders. Fortunately I convinced them to have our order as takeout. read more

Stopped in for a mid-day Saturday brunch before heading back over the bridge into Michigan. As I had been here a few years previously, was super excited to come back and had hyped up the restaurant to my husband about how amazing the Pig was. Firstly, we were greeted by an extremely rude hostess. She never once smiled and was abrupt and condescending about the potential 30-40 minute wait; pretty much indicating that we shouldn't stay. Because I really wanted to eat here, we elected to stay. She asked "NAME?" To which I politely gave my name and said with a K, not a C, and she replied "I don't even know how to spell that!" The wait itself was fine, however the rude hostess was not fine. Not sure of her name, but she has purple hair (FYI: I love colored hair, but describing her as the person with purple hair is much more polite that saying the person with RBF). Due to being a party of two, we had to wait behind two other parties of two, which also was fine until a party of three came in and was immediately seated; then came in another party of three, also immediately seated. Three or four additional parties of two came in and left for not wanting to wait. When the two separate couples ahead of us asked why the disparity, the curt answer was "because they were going to a bigger table." The hostess was not only rude to us, she was rude to everyone who came in, even to the point of needed to be told by other patrons that she had ignored someone had entered and wanted to check in. Angela! You have a wonderful thing going! That girl is bringing down your vibe and needs customer service training and/or to find another line of employment! Ironically, after we finally were seated, we noted there were four open tables. Our server, Cherokee, on the other hand, was very pleasant and accommodating, plus thanked us for our patience. Recommended by one of the local residents, this hip breakfast joint did NOT disappoint! Everything on the menu sounded so good that it was hard to decide what to try. My dining partner got the Adonis eggs Benedict on sourdough English muffins, with goat cheese, roasted red pepper, pesto and balsamic glaze (side of grilled potatoes.) I tried a bite and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious. I got the Italian Sammy crepe "filled with strawberries and caramelized bananas, drizzled with peanut butter and Nutella." It was definitely a sugar rush but it was delicious. How have I not put Nutella and peanut butter together before??? It was a really good combination. This was basically dessert for brunch haha. The dining area was an open room with a short divider that split the room in half. A bit noisy when it's busy, because there's not much to absorb sound. The waitlist on an early Friday afternoon was fairly short and it was convenient to be able to add ourselves to the list with the iPad by the front door. The wait wasn't too long for 2 people, maybe like 15 minutes. The small parking lot was completely full when we arrived around 1pm but we parked nearby on the residential road and it was a very short walk to the restaurant. We came here yesterday around 8:30 AM. We were lucky to snag a table because by the time we left there was a short line of people waiting to get in. Our waitress was very friendly and sat us right away. We ordered orange juice, coffee, the classic, and the eggs Benny no sides. The food didn't take too long and the ambiance was cheerful so we enjoyed the art and sculpted pigs around, as well as checked out the merch. The specials were Kit Kat French toast and some other decadent option. All around us, people were enjoying their meals, which were substantial. The owner was working serving tables, which impressed me a lot. Our bill was $48.00 for breakfast before tax and tip. We also bought a mug for 10$ to remember the place. They accommodated groups, families of all sizes . The Breakfast Pig was a great find near our air bnb. It's my birthday and I can have The Breakfast Pig if I want to! I have been doing a roadtrip around Canada, and one of the stops we have is to visit Soo. This week I knew I HAD to try The Breakfast Pig after reading so many great things about it - and I have to say it was AWESOME! My boyfriend ended up surprising me with food from here for brunch, we did take out as I was working and it was delicious. I ended up getting the Mother Clucker Eggs Benedicts which was fried chicken on waffles with a side of fried potatoes, and boy this was DELICIOUS. The poached eggs were made perfect, and loved the runny yolk. The fried chicken on the waffle was totally divine - and the side of potatoes added the perfect crunch!
