The lowlife clerk snapped at all the kids. We were going to purchase a large gift card and a pack of overpriced Senkos ($11.99 at this store, typically $7.99). Maybe the extreme markup is to make up for all the potential customers they run off? Needless to say, we left without buying anything. Overall, my 1 star is due to crappy service, poor freshwater selection, and insane markups. Wouldn't recommend this place for yourself or kids. I was not surprised to see other reviews on here describing how other families had their first fishing trip ruining. Real stand-up people running this place. Interesting business strategy. Let's see how it works out for them!

Saw a lot of the 1-star reviews on here, so I was skeptical when I went in. However, this place is awesome. The staff is super nice and very helpful. I was looking for a rod to put a conventional reel on, and after telling them what I wanted (type of fishing, the reel I'd be using, lure size, types of fish I'd be going after, where I would be using it), they showed me some options from different price ranges and I ended up buying one. Prices were very fair and I ended up going back twice for other little things, leader line and some rod epoxy. This place honestly has a better selection of fishing gear than the bass pro in Atlantic City.

The two men held up three "FucL You" fingers. The child was acting professionally and was not shooting the finger. I have and kept snapshots of this tackiness. The have no interest in decorum. Classy outfit? Not at all. My reward for voicing my opinion/critique was to be shown the door. The FB page owner "LIKED" that I said I elected to depart. I visit this area a couple times a year, if possible, so seeking out guides is my past time. I'll spend my dough with their competitors, since their attitude and indifference brought about this negative factual review. While in the Cape May, you may keep this in mind. I'll choose classy folks that value polite acceptable content, since decorum speaks to ones dignity. This business appears to have a childish bent. Moments before I departed, a Mr. Gary Bradford told me that I should get over it. I told him that I surely was and leave the page. The FB page owner celebrated my departure. Buyer beware when dealing with folks of this caliber. You never know what a cretin may pull on you. Pic post was 8/5/18. If I can share the pics to this page, I will. Like I said, I clipped them to hold proof of their behavior.

I explained what I was looking for and was led right to it with proper knowledge and explaining of the product. Since I've never ocean fished it was nice to be given simple explanation and not be offered items I didn't need. It's about the customers and not the over sell, I appreciated everything while i was there and recommend them for your tackle weather you're an out of towner like me or a local. It's a couple minutes drive from exit 0 or the wildwood crest. Happy fishing

I had questions about everything, from lures to reels, to rods. Brendan provided me with unsolicited information, about all of my possible purchases. He helped me realize that I was doing most of my fishing, in the way I should be doing it. I greatly appreciated the manner in which he was able to steer me, particularly to an awesome, Tsunami two piece surf rod. It is light weight, and easier on my wallet. Plus, various online reviews of the rod, have been stellar. Thanks! Since I am one of those older folk, who would still prefer to touch the merchandise, it is incredible that brick and mortar stores still exist. Thanks, Brendan! Tight lines!

116 DAYS WAITING FOR A $625 ROD -- latest requests unanswered…read more I ordered a $625 G. Loomis NRX+ Inshore 843S rod from TackleDirect on May 13, 2026, as part of a $1,301.55 order. The reel shipped separately. As of September 6--116 days later--I was still waiting for the rod. On May 19, customer service explained that the rod required additional vendor lead time and said their next manufacturer shipment would likely arrive "in a week or so." On June 5, it still hadn't arrived, and they offered cancellation. On June 8, they said they had no accurate ETA. On September 3, I gave them a straightforward solution: substitute a specific St. Croix rod only if physically in stock and ready to ship immediately; otherwise cancel the rod portion and refund it. I followed up again September 5. As of September 6, neither September message had received a response. I understand that manufacturer delays happen. Nearly four months without the rod, followed by silence when I request a concrete resolution, is unacceptable customer service. Based on this experience, I would not order from TackleDirect again.
