I called the day before about the engine problem. Boss gave a decent estimate. I showed up the next morning and saw him in the parking lot. He checked the car right away, ordered the parts and told me to wait inside. They started working on the car, took apart the engine cover and showed me the old parts, and the new parts to be put in before wrapping up. The whole thing was done in an hour, much quicker than the book labor rate. The car was left running for another 30-40 mins to let the sealant cured. Boss didn't explain that. He just said it was not ready. Boss is super busy running in & out, inspect incoming vehicles, talking to customers in person, follow up on repairs by the team, ordering parts and answering messages and inquiries, doing cashiering, writing receipts. I can see why he can't do all that all the time but he is pretty close to Mr. Do it all. Most people would be overwhelmed in his shoes, but he is pretty calm the whole time. Red Oak Auto Repair Center is a beautiful new limestone and red brick building on Ovilla Road near where we live in Glenn Heights. They've been open a few months and we decided to drop by and present our truck's problem. We had been told that the EGR valve and gasket needed replaced and our usual oil change and simple repairs place would be unable to do it. We were greeted immediately by a friendly young man who introduced himself as Mo. Mo listened, understood what another place had to say about the issue and offered to do a free diagnostic while we waited. I have to say that the waiting area is more like a living room than your standard waiting area. There are two distinct areas. One side has a coffee bar with snacks and a refrigerator with drinks and water. The unisex restroom is on that side in the corner. There's a four kettle chair seating group with a table, rug and a wall TV. Across the room is a comfy long couch and two chair set with tables, large area rug and a wall TV. The light green walls were a wonderful change from automotive or industrial design and there was lots of natural light. Just a lovely airy welcoming room. We had showed up somewhere around closing time not knowing really that they would start on the repair. They choose to and in the end, we waited until they closed. They had to go buy a part and on the Ram 2006, the part was very difficult to get to and then get out, as it was rusted in place. Mo kept us aware of everything as it developed and offered to drive us home and bring the truck to us after the repair was done in the morning. We lived but a few miles away. The repair with tax, labor and parts was $324.75. They worked hard on this repair. This truck has never been housed in a garage. Dodge Rams live long but this is the second engine. It's been awhile since we have had a repair other than A/C or a turn signal. Given what Red Oak Auto Repair did for us and the great rapport we established, I can say we'll definitely be back!

I asked about diagnostics informing them that I had already performed my own diagnostics having owned a automotive shop in the 1990s but being 65 with disc degeneration from C3 to C7 along with my eyesight not so good anymore I needed some more capable fresh eyes on the matter with regards to the CEL & perhaps performing a smoke test & isolating a vacuum leak which was causing the Emissions system, specifically the purge circuit for the charcoal canister to fail registering with a code. I informed them that I had already ferreted it out with the TSB's & confirmed that the fuel filler neck had been replaced as per a warranty recall but that instead of a hard plastic Teflon vacuum line there was a fuel line in place which I suspect it was collapsing upon evacuation of the purge system "call". I also informed them that I had already replaced the fuel cap, the purge valve, with items from Amazon, & the dealer without the issue resolving itself. I also informed them that I had a iCarSoft along with a LAUNCH CRP, EQUUS 3140 INNOVA & an ACTRON CP9410 scanner tools & that I was able to read, clear & monitor in real time the issue with regards to the CEL. They came back & said they don't work on old cars.... Or that they quit working on cars that old a couple years ago. Which is just bullshit. If you go to their site Facebook page or otherwise, even their ad/advertisement shows a C Class, W203 car that they claim to have worked on which is exactly what my daughter's car is. They just don't want customers like me that know what they're talking about because they won't be able to take advantage of me & now they refuse to even respond to me over chat. I even gave them the chance to say just let me know that "I'm one of THOSE customers, & that you don't really wanna deal with people like me" but they're fucking cowards & therefore they're liars because they don't want to tell the truth. I wouldn't deal with liars if I were you .

I provided them with the diagnostic from Sewell, which clearly indicated that my vehicle needed a new AC condenser and both rear wheel bearings. After a week in the shop, I was informed that the AC was still not working and that my car had developed a new "screeching" noise that was not present prior to service. I later learned that instead of replacing the AC condenser, as the diagnostic indicated, they replaced the AC compressor. Great Motors then charged an additional $188 to re-diagnose the same issue, when it was their mistake that they replaced the AC compressor instead of the condenser. Their misunderstanding of the difference between these AC parts resulted in an additional hundreds of dollars!! Unfortunately, this experience left me with a car that was incorrectly repaired, unnecessary additional fees and concerns about both the accuracy of their work and accountability. While I wanted to support a local business, I cannot recommend Great Motors based on this unsatisfactory outcome.
