Dancers used the dining room as their dressing area, with no privacy afforded to them (BTW is it sanitary to have dancers' personal items all over commercial eating areas?). Dads were allowed in the changing areas, too. The dancers were required to haul their rented costumes on foot to and from the studio, next to the busy McKellips road with no supervision from the studio. There was nowhere to park, and we still had to pay our recital fees and admission fees to sit out in the elements. My kid was freezing cold. I paid for a professional recital. I had reasonable expectations that were not met. Where did my money go if we didn't have to pay for an auditorium? The studio is not being maintained. It's falling apart and it is filthy. The only good thing there is Beverly. I wish she'd open her own studio.

I can see that this teacher really cares about the children and their dance performance which is reflected in the skills that my Eowyn has learned. The experience level of the dancers is low so DD isn't a very good bet for dancers who want to social dance beyond newbie level. Probably most people that start at DD quickly move on to other studios and venues once they get the basics down. The lessons are expensive compared to many studios who have comparable instructors.

They will likely have a small part and will play that same small part year after year after year. They also have a dance teacher, Larry, who is very rude. He yells at the children, tells them to shut up, is disrespectful and has even made comments about the girl's weight. If your daughter is in ballet and wants to move up, she will have no option but to have Larry as a teacher. I have called about his behavior and been told that management knows about it but there's nothing they can do. There are much better dance companies out there. He has a very very large group of kids to work with during Nutcracker practices and he can get stern. I was a bigger dancer and nobody ever said anything to me about my weight. They always had to make a new costume for me for Nutcracker production because I was bigger. Nobody seemed to notice or care. I always had lead roles even being bigger. I know the same people still run this studio and teach there and that is the only reason I am writing this 18 years later because it is still valid. I feel they are very good about giving deserving girls good parts. Moms don't always know how good their child really is cause they are seeing them through mom eyes but they have always been fair with the parts.
