My husband, Tom and I signed up to take dance lessons with FADS Phoenix North. We always wanted to take formal dance lessons; the pending marriage of our daughter prompted us to finally sign up. We are in our mid 50's and weren't sure how much we'd be able to do. We were nervous and hoped we wouldn't embarrass ourselves too much. At our first lesson we were greeted by the friendly staff, Isis and Sarah. They welcomed us and led us to the big beautiful dance floor where we met our dance instructor, Nedko. What a relief to find we truly were having a private lesson, just us and Nedko. It was difficult at first, our legs and core were sore the next day (dancing is a great workout!). We had difficulty remembering the simplest steps, but Nedko was very patient and helped us understand what we needed to do by using great analogies. One of our favorite analogies was when Nedko compared Tom leading me in the dance to towing a vehicle with a rope vs a stiff bar. After a couple of lessons we got our courage up to attend the group lessons and monthly theme party. These events include dancers of all ages and skill levels, everyone was fun and friendly. We look forward to our dance time and wish we would have started sooner. I cannot say enough about our experience at Fred Astaire Phoenix North. My husband and I finally decided to take dance lessons and found the studio because it was a convenient location to our home, but when we walked in, saw the beautiful decor, and were greeted so warmly, we knew we were really fortunate to be able to work with THIS particular studio and group of instructors. Nedko, Sarah, Isis and Addie are such a special group and make our lessons fun and productive! The time flies! And the weekly practice parties are so well done with so much creativity and an effort to include everyone in the dance activities - it's a great way to practice what you've been learning! We love it here and appreciate the work they have done to create an atmosphere that combines professionalism, friendship and fun. My husband and I decided to use dance as an added technique to learn more about each other and supplement the therapy we began last year. We signed up for lessons in October of 2020 and it has exceeded our expectations. Private lessons are like a personal date night where my husband and I work together to solve a challenge and learn each other's body language. It has been a safe way to engage in a mentally and physically stimulating activity during this pandemic. The studio staff are all extremely kind and interested in your success and personal hurdles. Jeremy is the instructor we work with the most and always has an upbeat, cheery disposition to persuade improvement from his students, leaving each lesson with a nice break from the stress of adult life. My fiance and I wanted to make our first dance at our wedding special! Neither of us damce at all....no talent!!! We decided to visit this dance studio...a month before our wedding date! We requested three dance lessons since we were short on time. Sarah choreographed an absolutely beautiful dance for us! She kept it simple and very sweet! I can't praise her enough for the exceptional job she did for us, and it was so much fun! We had several comments after our dance at the wedding that we looked like we've been dancing for years together! Any amount of time spent at the studio is always the highlight of my week. I have always loved to dance, and wanted to learn more, but as soon as I started here, I surprised even myself at passionate I am about dance. If you decide to start dancing as well, I think you will have a similar experience. The owners, Sarah and Nedko Petrov, are beyond incredible and their love of dance is contagious. I would highly recommend the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Phoenix North. Everyone there is so friendly. We worked with Sarah to learn a dance for our wedding. She was very patient and encouraging. While Nedko was not our instructor, he was still very supportive. They all clearly care a lot about you and your experience with them from being comfortable with the moves to understanding even the basic fundamentals of why certain moves are done a certain way. We had a lot of fun and are already talking about taking more lessons after the wedding. They really worked with our schedules and made sure we felt prepared to dazzle our friends and family with our cool new moves. We loved every part of our experience! read more

My wife and I enrolled in preparation for the first dance at our wedding reception. Our instructor (Sarah) was amazing with the choreography, as well as making every effort to ensure that we were well prepared while having a great time! Our first dance was fantastic and will forever be a memory that Sarah helped create. We have also incorporated some of those choreographed moves from our first dance into general dancing as well. I danced for 22 years before I decided to retire my dancing shoes and focus on my career. It has been difficult to find an outlet, especially for adults. I've had the pleasure of having Nedko Petrov as my dance instructor for 10 years! I had no dance experience when I started and now compete in regional and national competitions. Not only has it been a remarkable learning experience, it's been so much fun! As a wife, mother, grandmother, and community volunteer, my time is spent seeing to the needs of others. I first started dancing a year ago and was lucky enough to have Sarah as my teacher. I was inexperienced and very nervous. But she was so warm and welcoming and over time she helped me develop the confidence I had always wanted in dancing. She is such an inspiring person and so very talented! I was also lucky enough to work with Nedko. He too is very talented and I learned much from him. He choreographed a beautiful dance for us and showed me how to be a better lead. The experience was very enlightening. I actually can dance. Not a hint of being embarrassed as Sarah, our instructor, was just fun to learn from. It's like going over to friends house. Sarah was so nice, but ISIS was the one that really made you feel welcome. The gift certificates for friends or family is a unique gift.
